😆

That's good then. As long as you respect it but totally disagree with it with utter disbelief just a little bit, that makes me feel so much better.

Merry Christmas mate, take the night off and enjoy yourself!

Merry Christmas Rev.

I am, discussing things on here whilst watching football and Darts. Plus a good dinner out at the pub with family this afternoon

Can I asked why?

Not that it matters, but imo Tom did all the real donkey work behind the scenes and John was more the PR man ( which tbf he was very good at)

In your opinion? Based on what?

Well, that's me for the night, had enough of being baited for one day.

Tomorrow Rev gets strung up for saying he preferred Clayton over Douglas.

How strange you should mention Douglas! Because I distinctly remember, around 1957,  him being driven to requesting a transfer, as a result of the inane abuse he was receiving, from a very small section of the crowd.

That for the greatest Rover I have seen, just because his form had temporarily dropped from his own impeccable standards.

And that was before the advent of social media

Not remember those 30 yard screamers he scored under JDT?

He doesnt get a nosebleed in the opposition half either.

He has never scored more than 2 goals in a single season. Any screamers were very much the exception so are a strange area to focus on.

I think Travis was a good player and has been missed but he isnt this all rounder you suggest. He cannot protect the defence or read the game as well as Tronstad and isnt as good on the ball. Travis was more athletic and got about the pitch more although he isnt the same type of player.

You suggest that the stats back you up, what stats?

Tronstad does a very specific role, he sits in front of the defence, he keeps the play ticking, he reads the game really well and he is essentially the glue in our team. We play much better and do better when he plays. 2 players of a similar style (obviously elite players) are Busquets and Makelele, neither ran all over the pitch and neither made it to 20 career goals. Did they hold their teams back as limited and peripheral players?

I'm sorry that you don't like your opinions to be questioned.

A load of talk online, given the traction it's received, about that Hackney assault being reviewed and upgraded to a 3 game ban by the EFL.

I don't even think they can do that, but more to the point; doesn't help us one jot, does it?

Because the ref saw it and booked him, I dont think they can go back and do anything about it.

I also dont think anything really changes in the game if he was sent off, we might have had a bit more possession but dont think we were ever scoring.

They could punish the ref, but why rock the boat, just let the standard of refereeing get worse and worse.

If you want to question me in a civil manner on anything vaguely relevant to 2025 fire away.

I've been perfectly civil throughout, and only questioned you on things you said.

You fired a couple of aggressive chaddy style questions at me. All I said was I preferred Tom Finn to John Williams, I was being complimentary about Finn not derogatory about Williams.

Where is there to go with that? It's my own personal opinion and no-one else's business. It's also completely irrelevant anyway all these years later.

If you perceived aggression, that's down to you. None was meant. I've got better things to do than be aggressive about football opinions these days.

You said that Finn did all the work behind the scenes or something like that. I was asking where you got that information from. Where to go with that would have been to answer the question so that I knew what you were basing that opinion on. Perhaps I'd have learnt something.

From my interactions with them both on the FF and from speaking to a couple of people I knew at the time who thought similar.

I have to stress that's a compliment to Finn as opposed to a dig at Williams. I can't believe my opinion on the subject is of any interest to or matters to anyone.

Edit: Just as I can't understand why me saying

"I think Tronstad is ordinary BUT I KNOW OTHERS DON'T AGREE"

seems to be so controversial.

Based on what I posted the other day I think the FA can, despite the yellow, still retrospectively punish him.

Of course can and will are two entirely different things.

The power to intervene does certainly seem to be there in the regulations.

Then again they could have ordered a replay of the final 10-15 minutes of the match 11 v 10 against Ipswich.

I didn't know you were on the fans forum back in the Williams and Finn days

Was that when he returned to the team after he'd broken his leg? He definitely took a while to recover and was often caught in possession.

An idiotic section of the crowd took to booing and jeering him, I remember being appalled at the time.

Same with Ronnie Clayton when he lost his pace late in his career. Astonishing that fans would react like that to 2 of the greatest servants we have ever had but they did.
