Could put Pickering or Riberio in at left centre back to give Pratt a breather maybe.

Unless Pratt is knackered of course, we are back to 1 game a week now, and he only played 45 minutes at the weekend.  If we are going to persist with a back 3, I would prefer someone with a future at the club over a left back playing out of position

Normally I would agree but our squad is in absolute pieces. I'd play the few first team players who have not had much game time - Toth, Montgomery, TGH, Pickering, Riberio, De Neve. What's amusing is half of them are left backs, which is also Powell's role.... so we can probably only play one out of Powell, Pickering, Riberio, De Neve?

I guess we could line up something like :

                                   Toth

           O'Riordan    Atcheson  Pratt

?????              TGH            Montgomery    Powell

                               Henrickson

                       Joseph        Higgins

Could implode, might surprise us. I suspect though Ismael won't go for this sort of thing, and will keep flogging Ohashi, Cantwell, McLoughlin which tbh is a perfectly reasonable thing to do as it's madness to send out the kids. But then again it's madness to take risks on more injuries to our few remaining experienced players.

Maybe switch Dlamini/Doherty/Tyjon (only bothering mentioning Tyjon as he was in the squad at the weekend) for Higgins, and keep the 3-4-2-1 from the weekend?  Higgins then could be an actual striker to use from the bench

16 year old Theo Pitt at right wing back anyone?  unless Dlamini is tried as a wing back?  or Houghton (a right back, older than Pitt but with a lower ceiling) is promoted from the U21s

I expect to see Toth, Atcheson, O’Riordan, Cashin, Pratt, De Neve, Montgomery, TGH, Henriksson, a new striker and the Academy lads.

I’d be shocked to see Miller, McLoughlin, Sonny, Baradji, Cantwell and O’hashi.

I would like to see Doherty in action for Rovers, he got rave reviews when we signed him, and he chips in with goals.

A step in the right direction, our 1st signing of the January window. Cashing a defender, on loan from Brighton. Can we please strengthen our attack now.

I would love Rovers to lift the FA cup at Wembley, but its not happening at the moment. Our main priority is stay in the Championship. Rest some of our seniors, and try some of the academy players.

Zero interest in this competition right now, fighting relegation is our main focus/ambition this season....and the next and the season after next!

What have they done to us.

I do enjoy a cup run and would usually want to progress as far as possible, but this season it does seem sensible to rest the majority.

Toth

Atcheson O'Riordan Cashin

TGH Montgomery Garrett De Neve

Henriksson

Dlamini Joseph

Am I right in thinking you don't have to be in the registered 25 to play in the FA Cup, so Garrett could play?

I know you can register and unregister players game by game this month but it's just me wondering.

I am fairly certain they have to be registered for each round, but that registration is separate than the 25 for the league, so assuming I've not dreamed that up, yes he could play (albeit he has so far only played a game and a half for the U21s since injury)

Registration is a one off thing, ie if the deadline is met for the third round it’s met for subsequent ones too.

The squad list relates to league matches only

Ill be really annoyed if we put a line up like that out.

It SHOULD be the strongest possible line up. (But won't be I know, it's just a question of degree.)

I won't be overly impressed myself if it's a line up like that as i'm going

I must admit that I'm going in the hope that I DO see a team full of kids the the senior players rested for the League battles ahead.

It will make no difference whatsoever to whether we stay up or go down Parson.

It would be just forfeiting a game.

I get that we do need to rotate our squad which is not fit for purpose.

But I think if I was going that I would at least want to see a competitive side. That should be possible with rotation, it seemingly wont be here.

If you was willing to disregard the cup to that degree, as if it doesnt matter, then I dont even see why you would bother going. Surely a more fitting mindset would be that you understand a few will be changed but you are still desperate to see us progress.

A few years ago I was sick of Mowbray not taking the Cups seriously and thought when JDT arrived at the Club that the powers that be had suddenly decided to take them seriously because they'd decreed we needed all the money we could get.

Well, we still do, and the Cup runs under JDT were wonderful for morale which frankly we need a boost of even more at the moment after one win in ten.

The senior team is already full of kids, we sold most of the squad with any experience.

It was strange under Mowbray. His selections didnt tend to suggest that he had no care for the cups, far from it but for some reason his record was shocking in them.

I remember in the season that we finished 8th, we played Morecambe at home early in the season in the League cup, I dont think we had signed anyone by that point, another example of the owners letting us down, and we went pretty much full strength and still embarassingly lost.

A couple of other examples of cup exits. We played Newcastle in the third round of the FA cup I think the season after promotion and went full strength and got unlucky with dodgy decisions. Then a couple of years later we played Wigan, again the team wasnt a weak one but the one change that cost us was the goalkeeper.

Equally, Tomasson didnt necessarily play his strongest team by any means but we went on a good run.
