B16Rover Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago Inspired by the sister forum, I thought we were also due a thread on migrants activity in Blackburn. On that basis, the rules are below: Blackburn Rovers best 11, but you can only have 1 player from each country. E.g. no Neil and Emerton! I have taken inspiration from Big Val and gone for a 5-2-3. Showing my generation, and putting some faith in the engine of some players.. Raya (ESP) Emerton (AUS) Samba (CON) Nelson (NZL) Givet (FRA) MGP (NOR) Tugay (TUR) Jermaine Jones (USA) Duff (ROI) Shearer (ENG) Bellamy (WAL) As a bonus round, I'd also like to see the worst XI 2 Quote

Backroom Mike E Posted 7 hours ago Backroom Posted 7 hours ago (edited) Friedel (USA) Berg (NOR) Samba (CON) Nelsen (NZ) Olsson (SWE) Emerton (AUS) Tugay (TUR) Nzonzi (FRA) Duff (ROI) McCarthy (SA) Santa Cruz (PAR) I chose this because I feel like it’s the best available players in each position, given the restrictions. Some are undeniable (Friedel), some are debatable (Pedersen vs Duff, Olsson vs Givet) where nationality then restricts others (Pedersen vs Berg? Nzonzi vs Givet?), and some are made obvious by lack of alternative (Emerton is the only quality foreign player I can recall who was a suitable RW). A really interesting one, great idea. Edit: Occurred to me that I could pull Emerton back slightly and turn that into a back five and give Duff more room to roam behind the strikers. Edited 7 hours ago by Mike E Quote

Except, maybe, regarding injuries towards the end of his career. Had we held on to Hakan Unsal, the Turkey left back, he may well have gone on to be one of our best left backs. Worthy mentions for Andre Ooijer and Eyal Berkovic. The striker, Kalinic is an odd one, scored goals in Serie A but flopped here. Not necessarily the worst but players that disappointed: David Yelldell Deyovaisio Zeefuik Lorenzo Amoruso Amine Linganzi Barry Douglas Martin Andresen Oumar Kounde Radosan Petrovic Corrado Grabbi Egil Ostenstad Maceo Rigters Quote

Freidel (USA) Neill (AUS) Berg (NOR) Hendry (SCO) Givet (FRA) Gillespie (NI) Tugay (TUR) Batty (ENG) Duff (ROI) Santa Cruz (PAR) Bellamy (WAL) Pains me to leave Shearer out but don't fancy any of the other foreign midfield options over the years, Nzonzi was good for us but shouldn't be near a best 11. Worst... Leutwiler (CAN) Henley (WAL) Orr (ENG) Dailly (SCO) De Neve (BEL) Kargbo (SLE) Petrovic (SER) Taveres (CAP) De Pedro (ESP) Gueye (SEN) Stokes (ROI) Edited 4 hours ago by MarkBRFC Quote

Duff was world class, Pedersen was just a decent Prem level player. 2 1 Quote

Rover down South Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago McCarthy (SA) Duff (IRE) Bentley (ENG) Pedersen (NOR) Tugay (TUR) Nzonzi (FRA) Emerton (AUS) Samba (COG) Hendry (SCO) Nelsen (NZ) Friedel (USA) Not sure it would have worked out in reality, but more a team of my favourite players. Could quite easily have thrown Savage in there instead of Nzonzi because of his shithousery!! Quote

Relocating a few at a time and integrating them into the club/country/area and getting them used to the football etc fair enough, especially when you have that British philosophy to ease them into. Throwing together half a dozen or more at once and trying to blend them in with raw kids and your British core has gone, asking for trouble and here we are. Quote

Bethnal Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Interesting that nobody has put Wharton in theirs, so far. Quote
