Souness must go ?

Who replaces him is irrelevant.

There is a cancer in our stricken club and it needs cutting out before it kills the patient.

That comment is in very very bad taste.

Why?

To liken a football club to a disease is particularly tactless.

To liken cancer to our football club is particularly distasteful.

For you to need to have the matter explained to you is very worrying.

Supporters like you are the cancer  :<img src=:'>

And with recent falling gates i guess most are back supporting Man Utd from where they once came.

I disagree.

A cancer can be described as a vice or other evil of an inveterate spreading kind, which sums up perfectly the influence that Souness is having at Rovers.

Very disappointing to have to define this for you.

Typical of GAV to make judgments on individuals rather than addressing the issues.

Nobody can blame the manager for today’s display. Workmen like with no end product, but what can the manager do about that? we had enough chances to have murdered Leicester but they didn't go in.

WE WERE MUGGED.

Give Souness a big pay off and bring in WHO?

Because we have no money to build a new side and I doubt anyone willing to take the job would turn the current crop into title contenders. But that comment doesn't mean these players are bad players because they are not.

Only the brain dead are asking for the sacking of the manager. No he's not beyond criticism but looking at the wider picture it's clear to most supporters that we just can't afford to let the manager go.

You're beginning to sound like your mate Garry 'Bitter and twisted' Hickson

:sarc:

I admire your loyalty to Souness. But I repeat - look what happened to George Burley and Ipswich.

A classic example of a well-loved (by most) manager doing a fantastic job (manager of the year - was he?) taking his team into Europe.

The next season the team went on a disastrous run but crucially the board held fire because of what Burley achieved in the past. That loyalty was rewarded with relegation. And then they only removed Burley after a dismal start to the Division One campaign.

When players lose confidence and the team slumps - they're are times when the manager has to go. That's not saying the manager is not good enough OR that it's his fault. It is simply an admission that psychologically the players need a change. Simply to revitilise themselves.

Boro got it right when they brought in Venables after Robson was mucking up. Was Venables some football genius who guided Boro to safety? Almost certainly not. It was simply a new face with new ideas that the players responded to.

As for who to replace with Souness. I would welcome Tony Parkes taking it on for a while until a someone can be found.

jim.

You have tried to wriggle and squirm out of outrageous comments in the past and have made yourself look a toal and utter fool.   This time you are achieving the same without even getting near to the edge of the pit you've dug yourself into.

Just admit for once, that you are plain and simply wrong.

When was that, pray? I can't recall any.

Instead of attacking personalities, why not address the issue?

i don't see how you can say Souness takes not blame, it all comes down to Souness, if a player is lazy of can't cross it is a player that Souness has bought or selected, Souness must be doing something wrong, to be honest i think that Souness is in a far better situation then Hodgson was when he got sack because Hodgson had half the first team injured, although i would not want to see Souness sacked, are the players losing faith, is he selecting the wrong team, are his tactics bad, has he signed the wrong players, Souness has to be responsible and has to fix the problem

You will have the right to unopposed reply here, as this is well off topic now, so I won't respond again.

I disagree with your views on Souness.   I can live with that.

However, it would have been refreshing if you could at least accept that the analogy you used in your post - which is what I have objected to, not your fundamental view - was not pleasant, and unjustified.

You seem to pride yourself on being a man of great articulation but you fail to display any humility and you have a singular inability to be dignified at times, refusing to accept that a careless choice of words undermines your argument.

And you let yourself down by always wanting to have the last word.

Have you ever considered that you may be wrong on some issues?

Perish the thought.

I can see why he won't put forward a name - you'll only mock it through ignorance. As has happened with my suggestion of Paul Sturrock - a name some people have laughed at without having the faintest idea who the hell he is.

Glenn Hoddle is available. And before you laugh. Remember his record at Swindon, Chelsea and Southampton. Didn't cut it at Spurs - but all managers fail now and again. As Souness did at Southampton and Liverpool. As Strachan did at Coventry.

We couldn't go far wrong by employing Hoddle and Sturrock in a duel management role.

rover6, I have read most of your posts with incredulity but now you are talking complete and utter cobblers.

Souness is flawed. He is no tactical genius and his man management skills are neanderthal but he has mellowed a bit. He also had a phenomenal record at Rangers, is worshipped in Turkey and achieved a miraculous recovery for the Rovers.

Compared with Hoddle, Souness is a model of new age enlightenment. Hoddle is a walking disaster, a complete mess of complexes and finds it impossible to contemplate that he could in any way be wrong. Thankfully, there is no way Hoddle will ever be coming to Ewood.

Hoddle may show more tactical awareness, sometimes, but he is totally out of his depth as a Manager.

sturrock is a scotsman who was an average midfielder in an average scottish league.

he moved onto management having had to finsih his football career short through injury. he moved into the then non legue status of scottish football managing such thoroughbreds as clachnacuddin and alloa before an ill fated stint at dundee his football nemesis. he was then appointed part time basis only as plymouths manager and enjoyed a reasonable good run resulting in him getting the job full time and is now at the helm on a 3yr deal.

that good enough for you ?

he simply could not cut it in div 1 never mind the premiership, maybe if he proves a point 5 or 6 years down the line then come back with his name until that day let him be and never mention his god damned name name again on this thread he is not premiership material.

Rover 6, the amount of rubbish that you talk is beyond belief. I have got to laugh at the suggestion that Hoddle and Storruck could do better than Souness.  I will take great pleasure in reminding you of this in May when under Souness we have achieved a respectable position in the Premiership.

Without wishing to slag off Tony Parkes do we really want him in charge again?

Don't forget the last time he was in charge he was ready to sell David Dunn and Matt Jansen.  And I have not even mentioned his "ideal Scenario".

Rover6- you are talking drivel.

First of all- we will play our way out of trouble like we did two seasons ago.

            - the team is not playing that badly, the tide will turn.

            - the league is very quite tight and a couple of wins can push up a few places.

            - your suggestion of Sturrock and hoddle is surely taking the @#/???

Significantly, Souness stayed in the dressing room after the match because he was to "upset" to face the media, sending Tony Parkes instead.

Hopefully, Souness has realised he can do no more for the team and will spend the next few days considering his future.

In many ways, I feel sorry for him but football is  harsh world and he must carry the can for his mistakes.

its an obvious thing to say when TP speaks to the press aint it ?

how about giving the manager some support, the team some backing and then how about having a change of drivel spouting from you overwroked keyboard !

Absolute complete and utter rubbish.

I have seen some nonsense posted on here but you are without doubt the master of it. I think you actually enjoy Rovers doing badly.
