  1. Nothing but pride for those 10 lads in that second half. Not often I clap in the living room at the final whistle. Have that Brentford. And I’ll even say it: well done Mowbray. Capitalised on a stupid, arrogant double tactical substitution by Frank, with both of Tony’s subs combining to get that priceless goal. COYB!

  2. Hi all, Two things, firstly thank you all so much for the good wishes, it genuinely gave me a huge lift when I heard about this thread. A quick update, I'm now home with the family and recovering. Both me and my wife (as I feared both working in the NHS) got Covid, it was awful for a week and both very poorly. I suddenly took a turn for the worse and was rushed into Hospital with a Temp of 41.2 and was admitted into intensive care. Covid, Pneumonia and Sepsis basically kicked the life out of me for several days and it was very much touch and go if I survived or not. I spent 5 days in i

  3. The trouble is, this is a well-trodden route in the Copybook of Tony Mowbray. A week back, prior to Cardiff and following the utterly woeful and woebegone showings against Wigan and Barnsley, we needed to see a late and sustained charge. What did we get? Win one, draw one, lose one. In keeping with the season. In keeping with the managers record. That kind of infuriating and tiresome predictability just creates a detrimental staleness that engenders apathy amongst the ever diminishing fan base, and ensures that any player of talent and therefore ambition will not grace Ewood for long. 5. With respect, you are talking absolute rubbish on this point and imo being extremely disrespectful to Jack Walker. I hope my post doesn't send you scurrying off to the moderators to complain as I would prefer not to suffer a ban and I'm not surprised you riled many people with your comments yesterday. No-one expects the facilities left by Jack to remain untouched for 100 years or more in his honour or memory. No-one expects the Jack Walker "Legacy" to mean that future owners should be hamstrung or restricted in their running of the Club. The Jack Walker "Legacy" is a notional st

  6. Joe, I mean this will all due respect, but Jack’s legacy isn’t Rovers winning the league. I would assume you’re too young to really remember what Jack did? Jacks legacy is putting Blackburn on the map. It’s giving the fans pride in the club. It’s the commentators on TV saying “the most successful town football club in the world”. It’s giving local kids the opportunity to train at a superb academy and maybe one day, represent their town. They don’t necessarily need to be stars at Blackburn Rovers. Its about the soccer schools for local kids. The disability groups for local people. The wome

  8. First alarm bell that should be going off is the fact that the club have only acted AFTER the news has emerged through fans doing homework online and spotting the planning application. If this is such a brilliant, ambitious and sensible plan why weren't they shouting about it from the rooftops early doors? I'll be honest I feel physically sick about this. Not just at the thought of Jack Walker's legacy being dismembered before our very eyes despite still being lumbered with Venkys but also the possibility that there are other agendas in play here with the Coventry-Venus-Waggott conne

  10. I know it’s been mentioned a few times, but I honestly think he really crossed a line last night when he made the comment: ’we are the team we are, with respect to Blackburn Rovers, we haven’t been tearing it up in the premier league for a long time’. Having previously said: ‘This is Blackburn Rovers, premier league winners. You have to have an ambition, you have to want to push on. I want to get this club to the premier league as fast as I can’. I didn’t want to believe all the self preservation stuff, but he’s in the position where he’s blaming literally anyone and anything bu

  11. I must admit that I've reached the point as to seriously question the value of paying even a tenner to watch Rovers at the moment. Like arbitro, I hadn't got a clue as to what formation we were playing or what role the players had. The substitutions - particularly replacing Nyambe with the kid from City - were mystifying at times. The Nyambe substitution really irritated me. Here we have a really good prospect who should be our right-back for years to come. A lad who has all the qualities required to play that position in the modern game and yet in the summer I feel sure he will

  13. It's the lack of communication from the club that angers me. One of my "lockdown jobs" has been to get my collection of sporting - mainly BRFC, obviously - programmes into some proper order, rather than just living in boxes, as they have done for far too long. I mention that because I had forgotten that I had very few programmes from the 2011/12 and the 2012/13 seasons. And that was because I was boycotting the club because of its ownership. But I could also identify with the PNE fan on the link from Lancashire Live. In a way, Ewood's been my spiritual home since the late 1950s and I've

We've been through a lot together as Rovers fans and 2020 has had its own particular twists and challenges to say the least. But I am very upbeat about the coming year even though the first quarter promises to be the worst part of Covid. We even have a bit of a Rolls Royce of a Rovers squad albeit the tires at the back are bald, there's no spare and we have found out what we suspected all along, the long serving chauffeur doesn't know how to drive... 17. West Bromwich Albion are Founder Members of the Football League, they’ve spent around 80 seasons as a top flight club (10 seasons more than us), they’ve also won numerous trophies. They are a historical football club of similar ilk to Blackburn Rovers... oh and they are in the Premier League. Some serious football illiteracy if you think West Brom are a ‘nothing club’.

It's also a huge misconception that the users of this site don't represent the 'general fan' - one thats usually peddled by people that either: 1) don't enjoy the forum (which is fine) or 2) have previously been banned from the forum and now have an agenda. The forum usually receives - on a normal day, 700 individual hits from across the globe. Of which, usually, around 200 post, but the majority of the 700 are members with an 'active' account to post if they see fit. Each of those 700 people usually spend between 10-12 minutes browsing the forum each session, which is massive, a normal w

  20. With respect to Tony Mowbray, we are Blackburn Rovers and we have pulled you off the football scrapheap and given you 4 years that your previous management achievements barely deserved. Now that you are trying to drag the great name of this club down to your level while trying to take the high ground you need to walk. And now.

  21. I expect progress within 3 years. I expect not to see players hopelessly out of position. I expect us not to stock up a defence with crocks. I expect us to be able to beat teams above us from time to time. I expect basic idiotic mistakes like letting players chose if they are fit not to be made. I expect good players contract situations to be sorted. I expect us to have a bit of bottle and launch a serious promotion bid. I expect us to not hide behind the excuse of they spent more than us. Boo bloody hoo. Didn't stop Hughes or Souness's teams. (And by

  23. Personally, I don't see this as a normal season and therefore no way is this going to be a normal transfer window for the majority of clubs. With plans for an October return to grounds now abandoned by the Government, I fear it's likely to be next spring, at the earliest, before spectators are allowed back in grounds, although I suspect it will more likely be next season before we get large numbers back - if there is a vaccine. Under the circumstances, the majority of clubs, Rovers included, are going to have to watch every penny with income being drastically reduced. Whatever the

The guy finally gets a chance and makes an assist, has an impact and then in the following game doesn’t get a look in in our final game, And he bangs on about attitude. Yet brings On Bennett who we all know is useless. The guy is clueless. Get rid.

It’s just with the latest forum software you can see (or I’m guessing you can) who changed the title and when. When I say always, usually it’s not for attempted comedy like in this instance, usually if a thread goes off topic or details about a game change / aren’t included I will tweak the thread title to be suitable. I changed the title of the thread because I found it funny. I really enjoyed StevenSK getting wine recommendations half way through the thread because I was expecting c

  30. This sums up exactlyhow I feel. I am in my 70th year, have had a season ticket since 1967 and have supported my club through thick and thin (and believe me there have been some bad times). However, I have never felt more depressed than I do today. I'm not one of those who think the club has a divine right to be in the top division, but as a fan, I feel I do have the right to see my team play with purpose and passion and with definite gameplans. To my mind, the players we have now ought to be good enough to be challenging for a play off spot. The problem is that they are completely lacking in g

  31. Having visited the academy site many times both as a spectator of the under 18 team and also through work, studied these vague plans in the document I am pretty confident that the site cannot accommodate what is required and supposedly sought by the club. There simply isn't the space, and that is before we factor in access, environmental issues, neighborhood opposition etc. Lets take the indoor pitch - the existing one must be 50ft high and there's no scope for building above it. The 'new' one will have to be the same height and cannot be built on top of. What does this mean? Well the 'pl

Established Championship club ✅ Recent history of Premier League football ✅ Squad packed with quality, including 2nd highest scorer in the league and a returning Dack ✅ No forced sales ✅ Owner investment and no interference ✅ Fantastic training ground ✅ Cat A academy top of the tree in the country ✅ Most successful club outside the top division by trophies won ✅ Low expectations from both fans and owners ✅ Its a dream job. If we conducted a proper recruitment process they'd be clamoring over each other for a crack at promotion here. Quite frank

  33. Been said earlier in this thread but the difference when the shackles are removed is like night and day. If we keep this mindset and keep our key players fit (and make a couple more shrewd acquisitions) who knows what we can achieve? Having been a fierce critic of Mowbray in the past I have to give him huge credit for how we're currently performing. Hats off to him and long may it continue.

  36. Please tell me who these 6 right backs are that are better than Nyambe and are within our budget? Remember we have spent a number of years developing this lad in our academy at some expense. If he leaves - and I have no doubt that he will leave and probably this summer - that money is wasted. Mowbray threw him under the bus on Friday when he knew that the kid he has brought on loan Everton was badly out of position and whose judgement was shocking from start to finish. Lenihan too was caught out. No wonder the goalkeeper decided he'd better start playing centre-back himself with the w

  37. Outthought and outdone by Alex Neil yet again. What's that now? 5 times in 6 games? He should have gone after the Preston embarrassment of October 2019 when Mowbray and his dithering team collapsed and chucked away a 2-0 lead at Deepdale. 16 months down the line and he's still here being outwitted by Nob Enders. Where I come from the mere prospect of losing a game to Preston was at one time inconceivable but thanks to this setup they repeatedly get the better of us thanks to clueless management, so much so that we are at best neck and neck with a clearly inferior squad of players bu

  38. Today was classic Mowbray. We have a good group of players but we are being held back by a stubborn, arrogant, deluded manager who seems to think he is a gifted tactician but he's not and everything on the pitch looks a confused over complicated mess. The 4-3-3 does not work yet because that is what he has been working towards playing for so long he won't admit that it isn't. The 4-3-3 also does not suit Dack he's far to deep in it. Whenever he does make a tweak to the 4-3-3 it is to play a false 9 which has never worked whoever plays the role. Harvey Elliott is not a false 9 he is a righ

  41. Its a terrible result. We had him from being a kid, brought him through to 1st choice and then sold him for £3m, which we squandered. We certainly didn't bring any long-term benefit to the club. Meanwhile Brentford have had him for one year only, will make 4 times as much as we will and use the money to strengthen. We are amateurs at this game---mugs in charge.

  43. Abysmal. We're an absolute shambles. A squad with more deadwood than actual potential, a manager who is inept beyond comprehension, an astounding ability to play football without any effective tactics, an executive level who either haven't got a clue all this is happening or are the reason it is happening, and all the while an air around the club as if life doesn't get any better than this. It's so frustrating. You know straight off the bat three things will happen in our games at present - 1) we'll have a wealth of chances we don't convert, 2) we'll concede some piss weak opener, an

Over the last 12-18 months I have really questioned my love for it all any more but then this sort of development has hit a nerve and wound me up about things like I haven't been for some considerable time. Not for good reasons or the right reasons, but it at least reminds me that I still care deeply about the club and what it used to be and should be. It has also brought things into focus with the three stooges in place there now. Previously I had them down as genuin

Make their own league, cut their own deals, have their own governing body, mess about with their own rule changes, make it practically a different sport if they want. Whatever. Scrap the premier league, return to a 4 division football league, regulate it properly and share monies more equally. I can but dream.

For Reading also, it's extremely important that they play this game. Mid-table mediocrity bragging rights are on the line. If we don't field a team that can play this game, we will have no chance of achieving our dream of fulfilling our fixture list. The stakes are now very real. I'm hoping we can field a team that definitely includes Bennett. This hope is the best way to make sure I'm not disappointed. It might be best if he plays in goal

Nobody at the club is striving for it to be the best it can be, so why will anything change? We are a zombie club, from time immemorial we have been run by what I saw as ‘Rovers people’, even if they weren’t local. From John Williams, Jack, of course, and before that decades of the butcher, baker and candle stick makers of east Lancashire. All understood the club, the town, the fanbase (debacles like 1960 aside), making the very best of what we had, even if the club was
