  2. Nothing but pride for those 10 lads in that second half. Not often I clap in the living room at the final whistle. Have that Brentford. And I’ll even say it: well done Mowbray. Capitalised on a stupid, arrogant double tactical substitution by Frank, with both of Tony’s subs combining to get that priceless goal. COYB!

  3. Hi all, Two things, firstly thank you all so much for the good wishes, it genuinely gave me a huge lift when I heard about this thread. A quick update, I'm now home with the family and recovering. Both me and my wife (as I feared both working in the NHS) got Covid, it was awful for a week and both very poorly. I suddenly took a turn for the worse and was rushed into Hospital with a Temp of 41.2 and was admitted into intensive care. Covid, Pneumonia and Sepsis basically kicked the life out of me for several days and it was very much touch and go if I survived or not. I spent 5 days in i

  4. Could people attending this meeting please raise with the club about having a match for Tony Parkes to raise funds for alzheimer's or make a match day Tony Parkes day and let him walk the teams out and give him the fans reception he very much deserves. Get some former players back as well on that day.

  5. The trouble is, this is a well-trodden route in the Copybook of Tony Mowbray. A week back, prior to Cardiff and following the utterly woeful and woebegone showings against Wigan and Barnsley, we needed to see a late and sustained charge. What did we get? Win one, draw one, lose one. In keeping with the season. In keeping with the managers record. That kind of infuriating and tiresome predictability just creates a detrimental staleness that engenders apathy amongst the ever diminishing fan base, and ensures that any player of talent and therefore ambition will not grace Ewood for long. 6. This isn’t intended as a thorough summary of the meeting, but here’s what I took away from it. This is from memory, not my notes, please consider this my observation and interpretations. Transfer Window Disappointing window, what happened? Mowbray disappointed we couldn’t get anyone in. Wasn’t for want of trying. Spoke about the difficulties around this for 25 minutes. Shocked by wage demands and asking prices. Won’t break wage structure. Got close on some deals. Has to field questions from Venkys as to why he hasn’t bought anyone You said

  8. How do we know there is no urgency? 3 years ago.. Back 4 v Southend 2017 Nyambe, Lenihan, Mulgrew (c), Williams, All 4 players still at the club and 3 nailed on to start against Bournemouth. 18 months ago. "defenders are coming." It's a piss take to be honest.

  9. My Dad is going through a similar thing, albeit in his early eighties, and it's so sad to see ... Tony should be so proud of his daughter ! Watching things like this puts all the " silliness " around local rivalries in it's true perspective. All Clubs have their legends and favorite sons, and Tony Parkes truly is one of Blackburn Rover's finest. The " Up the Clarets " board has a post about Tony this morning, and there's much best wishes and sympathy being expressed, to which I should like to add my own. Good luck, fella !

  11. It's the lack of communication from the club that angers me. One of my "lockdown jobs" has been to get my collection of sporting - mainly BRFC, obviously - programmes into some proper order, rather than just living in boxes, as they have done for far too long. I mention that because I had forgotten that I had very few programmes from the 2011/12 and the 2012/13 seasons. And that was because I was boycotting the club because of its ownership. But I could also identify with the PNE fan on the link from Lancashire Live. In a way, Ewood's been my spiritual home since the late 1950s and I've

  12. Here's wishing every one of you and your families a wonderful healthy happy and successful 2021. We've been through a lot together as Rovers fans and 2020 has had its own particular twists and challenges to say the least. But I am very upbeat about the coming year even though the first quarter promises to be the worst part of Covid. We even have a bit of a Rolls Royce of a Rovers squad albeit the tires at the back are bald, there's no spare and we have found out what we suspected all along, the long serving chauffeur doesn't know how to drive... Here's my 30,000th post- wh

  15. West Bromwich Albion are Founder Members of the Football League, they’ve spent around 80 seasons as a top flight club (10 seasons more than us), they’ve also won numerous trophies. They are a historical football club of similar ilk to Blackburn Rovers... oh and they are in the Premier League. Some serious football illiteracy if you think West Brom are a ‘nothing club’.

  17. I expect progress within 3 years. I expect not to see players hopelessly out of position. I expect us not to stock up a defence with crocks. I expect us to be able to beat teams above us from time to time. I expect basic idiotic mistakes like letting players chose if they are fit not to be made. I expect good players contract situations to be sorted. I expect us to have a bit of bottle and launch a serious promotion bid. I expect us to not hide behind the excuse of they spent more than us. Boo bloody hoo. Didn't stop Hughes or Souness's teams. (And by

  19. Personally, I don't see this as a normal season and therefore no way is this going to be a normal transfer window for the majority of clubs. With plans for an October return to grounds now abandoned by the Government, I fear it's likely to be next spring, at the earliest, before spectators are allowed back in grounds, although I suspect it will more likely be next season before we get large numbers back - if there is a vaccine. Under the circumstances, the majority of clubs, Rovers included, are going to have to watch every penny with income being drastically reduced. Whatever the

  20. Mowbray’s man management of Chapman is a disgrace. The guy finally gets a chance and makes an assist, has an impact and then in the following game doesn’t get a look in in our final game, And he bangs on about attitude. Yet brings On Bennett who we all know is useless. The guy is clueless. Get rid.

  23. Taken from that article.. This is why we'll never progress with Mowbray, if you're signing players for any other reason than improving the first 11 then what's the point? We have enough squad fillers as it is.

  25. Been said earlier in this thread but the difference when the shackles are removed is like night and day. If we keep this mindset and keep our key players fit (and make a couple more shrewd acquisitions) who knows what we can achieve? Having been a fierce critic of Mowbray in the past I have to give him huge credit for how we're currently performing. Hats off to him and long may it continue.

  30. Its a terrible result. We had him from being a kid, brought him through to 1st choice and then sold him for £3m, which we squandered. We certainly didn't bring any long-term benefit to the club. Meanwhile Brentford have had him for one year only, will make 4 times as much as we will and use the money to strengthen. We are amateurs at this game---mugs in charge.

  32. Abysmal. We're an absolute shambles. A squad with more deadwood than actual potential, a manager who is inept beyond comprehension, an astounding ability to play football without any effective tactics, an executive level who either haven't got a clue all this is happening or are the reason it is happening, and all the while an air around the club as if life doesn't get any better than this. It's so frustrating. You know straight off the bat three things will happen in our games at present - 1) we'll have a wealth of chances we don't convert, 2) we'll concede some piss weak opener, an

  34. Lewis Holtby is a Rolls Royce of a player in this league. Mentally head and shoulders above anything I've seen this season. I've not seen a more effortless, classy display for some time from a Rovers midfielder. Dont think a Preston player could even smell him.

Hidden work permits in drawers at Ewood - Shaw/Agnew - leaving rovers with a decimated medical team - whilst they played King of the castle. Kean's contract written by himself, with ludicrous bonus and a hefty personal loan off rovers for himself Kentaro massive business associate in Venkys pharmaceutical business (this has always bugged me, that relationship of the people who were in Kentaro continues) Yet its still laid out they were naive. 36. Can we stop with the ‘we will be Bury’ bollocks. For one thing, and absolutely no disrespect to Bury, we are a completely different proposition. They have been kicking around the lower leagues for a century, our grounds aren’t comparable... no need to labour the point, but the outcomes of the two clubs in the same position would be massively different. The fact we are bleeding money like we are is down to Venky’s mismanagement. The fact we lost our premier league status and income is down to Venky’s mismanagement. The fact our fanbase has been decimated is down to Venky’s misman

  37. The best scenario would be for these “big 6” to piss off and form a super league with the other “giants” throughout Europe. Make their own league, cut their own deals, have their own governing body, mess about with their own rule changes, make it practically a different sport if they want. Whatever. Scrap the premier league, return to a 4 division football league, regulate it properly and share monies more equally. I can but dream.

  39. There is a game on Saturday at 3pm. We are in it. Reading are also in it. This is an absolute must-play game. It's crucial that we play this game. For Reading also, it's extremely important that they play this game. Mid-table mediocrity bragging rights are on the line. If we don't field a team that can play this game, we will have no chance of achieving our dream of fulfilling our fixture list. The stakes are now very real. I'm hoping we can field a team that definitely includes Bennett. This hope is the best way to make sure I'm not disappointed. It might be best if he plays in goal

  40. As always with Rolo! And he touches on why I just don’t bother getting wound up over managers with this regime. Nobody at the club is striving for it to be the best it can be, so why will anything change? We are a zombie club, from time immemorial we have been run by what I saw as ‘Rovers people’, even if they weren’t local. From John Williams, Jack, of course, and before that decades of the butcher, baker and candle stick makers of east Lancashire. All understood the club, the town, the fanbase (debacles like 1960 aside), making the very best of what we had, even if the club was

Hey everyone, I'm one of the boot room staff here at BRFCS, I look after the servers and make sure they don't fall over ... or rather, get them running again when they do, I'm BRFCS' Mike Pettigrew if you will. With that in mind that I've been doing some work with the admins and mods to try and make the site a bit more resilient, it's no Vince Grella for staying on it's feet as it is, but it's no Derek Fazackerley either, it could be better. Over this coming weekend there will have to be some downtime (not during the game, I'll be watching that) as I start the work, then again in a f

  45. Superb post. I know @mheadand the Rovers Trust have been really pushing the idea of a heritage project in conjunction with the club. We touched on something on the Rovers Radio show a few weeks back when some fans were asking for a statue of Mowbray(!!!) to be erected... I know John has proposed we should have one for Bob Crompton. Every one of our fans should know his story. I used to conduct ground tours at Ewood, and the amount of history there is unreal. Tours were supposed to last an hour to 90 mins. I’d regularly do double that, or more, and always have loads more to show and talk a

  46. I think there are two ways this could go. Your scenario above is one of them - e.g. Mowbray will leave when he feels like it and that will only happen when we are really struggling and he's nowhere to hide. The alternative is the Bowyer scenario. This is that the owners have had enough of him and his failure to deliver promotion and get bored of it all again so refuse to meet him, fail to provide any more funds and expect sales to cover costs, and we end up with confusion and chaos. I've got to say that I am disturbed and unimpressed by Mowbray admitting in his interview last week th

I start every factual point about Venkys with “they’ve been absolutely terrible but...” Ive actually been a pretty regular poster for 12 months outside of the transfer windows but Hey, don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story...? I have supported Rovers since I was 10. My then football manager took me to Ewood in 1991 for the first time and I fell in love with the place. As for perspective on owning / running bu

  48. After seeing Lowe and Evans stroll around our midfield for what seemed like decades, this guy was a breath of fresh air in our league one campaign, finally someone flying into tackles and showing a bit of urgency in midfield. Special mention for that winner at Fleetwood and that performance in goal at the hawthorns. He isn't quite upto it at this level, and should have gone 12 months ago in my opinion to play some football, but his contribution to the league one promotion shouldn't be overlooked.

  49. We need their cash because they put us in a financial black hole. We were chugging along OK until they came in and burned everything to the ground - so forgive me if I don't fall at their feet in reverence. The least they can do is keep the lights turned on considering the destruction they've wrought in the past decade, during which the "highlight" has been promotion from a division we hadn't been in for decades previously.
