  1. About a week ago I was talking to my PNE-supporting brother-in-law. As I listened to him a grin got broader and broader on my face. He complained about a club that isn't run properly, a manager who doesn't know what he's doing, playing players out of position, ridiculous substitutions, square pegs in round holes...............and on and on. It was like reading this message board. Anyway, North End do well away from home. If they play in green we'll lose 2-0. And Mercer will have lost a packet.
  2. 4-4 at full time. Extra time about to start.
  3. I would love to see referees far more strict. But then people would call him too fussy. He cannot win.
  4. If we are to accept that it's a mid-table finish, any sensible club would pot Mowbray and staff now and bring in a new manager (Nigel Pearson would be ideal) so he has time to assess the playing staff, bring in his own coaches, organise contracts for those he wants to keep and make good use of the summer transfer window. It's not rocket science.
  5. I think QPR are a bit like us. It depends on which QPR team turns up on the day. I hope Mercer hasn't put a jinx on it all.
  6. Well I'm not going to pay The Entrained Scum any money at all. Leicester City, a very respectable club, let me watch the last game free.
  7. Yes. That rings a bell. What was the Dirty Duck's previous name? The Wheatsheaf?
  8. It was one or the other. I really don't know. Was the Mecca on St Peter Street between Mincing Lane and Darwen Street? If so this pub was on Darwen St.
  9. Another excellent podcast. I enjoyed Tim Farron but the best for me was the explanation of ifollow. Hilarious but true.
  10. I know we've moved on from old Blackburn pubs but I just want to ask one question. I'm not a Blackburn person but in the early 1960s we used to go to the Locarno (Mecca). I seem to remember enjoying the pubs, Jubilee, Vulcan and was it the Peel(?). There was a pub opposite the entrance to the Mecca (name please) and, if you came out of the Mecca, turned right to the main road, turned right again and a few yards down crossed the main road to a large pub. I always called it the St. Leger, but what was its real name?
  11. I would say the whole production is reasonable, Stuart. OK, sound doesn't always get switched on early enough. Cameras are still focussing on one individual whilst game is back underway. Re-runs of play taking place whilst game continues. Those are the cons. Pros: The two commentators are OK most of the time. We have to put up with adverts like watching ITV and Sky. It's par for the course. I have got used to watching Rovers on my screen in a warm room and also the bonus away fixtures.
  12. With regard to the camera work I agree. During the minutes applause the camera should have remained on the big screen. I was waiting to see a photo of my best mate, a Rovers fan since 1945, who died back in August. Instead the camera switched between Rovers team, Luton team, Mowbray, the officials and Jones with occasional flashes of the screen. I was seething.
  13. Pike was good. So was Nolan. I was disappointed with Luke Brennan. He had the ball a lot on the right wing but his final touch or decision was regularly poor. Top of the league, though.
  14. Jack Vale scored just before half time from a lovely through pass from Dack.
  15. Taylor at right back and Johannson alongside Berg in central defence in a patched up Rovers team were absolute heroes at Millennium stadium, Cardiff in 2002. The sight of Tiny attacking the Spurs' defence down the right wing in the last 10 minutes of the game still warms the cockles of my heart. Both were streets ahead of anything we have had under Venkys' tenure.
  16. I still think Nyambe would be twice the player if he were properly coached.
