Is George Hirst still available?
-
I read that like you as well. maybe more along the lines of “We’ll just keep plodding along the same old route. “. No real ambition. Just keep turning up. What would Jack Walker have thought about that?
-
I’m not convinced by the two lads we were intending to sign either. why would we take a player unproven at Premier League level, tieing ourselves to pay £10m and a P.L. Contract if we are promoted? What if he got himself injured, missed most of the season - or simply didn’t live up to the billing? What would we, at this point tie ourselves into that? Also, why would we take a 19 yr old, 5’ 6” midfielder who was on loan at Stayleybridge last season from Rochdale? Our 19 yr olds are playing championship football at that age. This at a time where we are needing first team squad players. I just don’t think they know what’s needed. I don’t think they know what they’re doing. We had as much chance of bringing decent players in when Saxton used to tell Fox which player he fancied and the chairman did his best to get him. Not all this bollocks where the manager doesn’t know who he’s going to get put in front of him.

Rovers had all of January to sort out loans. There has to be a deadline that applies to all clubs and the league will be obliged to apply that strictly to every club otherwise the lawyers will be at them. I don’t think Rovers failings here have anything to do with the rules.
-
Rovers statement. No acceptance the club has done anything wrong. No apology to the fans for anything. Its poor from rovers. Such a cold hearted statement. You would struggle to think they’re bothered by the events. Fans put fortunes of often hard earned cash, into supporting the club often for a lifetime. They deserve far better than that offering.
-
There’s some real anger. I’ve never seen the rovers twitterati so hostile to the club - and just about everyone involved in the running of it. Anyone listening I wonder?
-
The league rejected the two loans because the complete paperwork hadn’t been submitted in time.
-
As for the two transfers, I think if the league have asked for the other documents there’s every chance that the deals will go through.
-
Of course, every bit helps. ST prices aren’t the biggest driving factor for attendances though.
-
I think you know that Paul’s trying to say that crowds dropped under Allardyce because of the non entertaining football. Without actually saying it. They didn’t.
-
In the position we’re in, we’re talking “entertainment”! It’s astonishing really. we are talking professional sport here. There’s only one thing that overrules everything else, that’s winning. There’s no right or wrong way to win games. If you’re consistently achieving results then you’re doing things pretty well. If you’re winning games in the top league -as a small town team - you’re doing exceptionally well. How much more entertaining would you want to be?
-
-
Can’t see how it can go through if the correct forms aren’t sent through before the deadline.
-
Sounds quite feasible
-
How could rovers at this point - I guess it was GB, because it appears that JDT doesn’t get involved - possibly commit to paying £10m for a player unproven at PL level? I really don’t understand how the current management structure works. Or shouldn’t I say I don’t understand how it can succeed. Not here anyway.

“Apparently “? good source?

Best guess is they’re trying to drag Thomason back to Ewood.
-
Thought of another one. Could be there’s a dispute about whether it was registered on time.
-
It could be they’re waiting to unveil him before the press, it could be that there’s an unholy bust up, or it could be he failed the medical. The other option is I don’t have a clue.
-
It’s all very strange. Nothing at all on the official site, nothing at all from the LT - and last night Thomason said he knew nothing about transfers. Makes you think there’s “something” going on, somewhere.
-
Exactly Rev, as a football club, there is no other reason to exist. I was lucky enough to be given the opportunity to meet with John Williams. Something he did with many fans. I remember him uttering those very words. In his opinion Rovers weren’t there to keep shareholders happy or any other outside interest happy, they were there simply to win football games. A question for the club. If you don’t want promotion now - and the last manager didn’t particularly want it either, when WILL you want it?
-
Said it a few weeks ago Arbitro. There is no ambition. No REAL ambition. Everything from the neglect of the pitch, to attempting to sell off parts of Brockhall, , to the talking down of promotion chances and lack of backing for the first team squad is negative. It just shows everywhere.

v Birmingham FA Cup 4th Round replay - 31/1/23

and who in the club is going to raise these problems with anyone else? At most other clubs the owners would be demanding answers. -
Surely we’re not paying people to scout potential loan signings? Theres two separate things here… Scouting that should happen every day of every week. The loan market. You can’t surely “scout” the loan market. That simply boils down to what the situation is at other clubs at the time… and what the cost is.
