  1. If you’re not prepared to change because of the fear of making the wrong choice, you will never succeed at anything.
  2. 👍 Exactly why this idea of long term plans is garbage. Players come and go on a yearly basis, hardly anyone - including the manager hangs around that long. You can’t “build” anything unless you’re in the few top clubs in the country who can keep hold of players. No. For me, when a manager comes to a club like Rovers and talks about building the club slowly, he’s basically giving himself time and giving himself some protection. Do players want to hear that kind of thing? I doubt that as well. Please, give us a manager who wants to be successful from day one - and demands that from his players as well. Of course it might not work out, but at least it would show a bit of ambition. Every manager can be ambitious, wherever they are. Long term plans at this level are a get out clause.
  3. Hopefully someone who doesn’t think that developing young players is the priority. The academy is there to provide those and the managers priority is to assemble a squad that can win games. I do believe that since Venkys took over and dissembled a Premier League squad with the idea that rovers could only prosper by bringing through youngsters then selling on, the focus has been far too much on player development. Mowbray said on Saturday the new manager should focus on that also. 12 years later - how’s it working?
  4. You want another 5 years of the same then Gav?
  5. Can we have someone who believes that we CAN (no, must) compete with the other teams in this league please - and has some idea of how we can do it?
  6. Yes. To be honest, he should have spoken about Mowbrays position before Mowbray himself said he was leaving.
  7. It took some doing to finish behind all these teams, but we managed it.
  8. Yeah - and it was the game when Duncan McKenzie gave one of the best individual performances I’ve seen. What a footballer he was.
  9. It’s the mental health side of all this Chaddy. Stokes is a man who’s just taken time out from the game because - I guess - he found the workrate or stresses too much. Coming back and immediately taking on a job where expectation, stress and focus of every media outlet will higher than ever before doesn’t make any sense to me. The most important thing is his health, not the England captaincy. This is captaincy of a struggling side with a dearth of test talent as well. He should have refused it IMO, but I wish him all the luck in the world.
  10. He might be proud, but I would want more from the next manager in less than 5 years. Mere championship existence interspersed with record winless runs and frequently being reminded that we can’t expect to compete with most of the teams in this league, doesn’t do anything for me.
  11. I’m not sure that he’s done well during his time here. I wouldn’t have settled for what we’ve seen for the last 5 years. 5years is a long time in football and for a manager getting that long I would have expected far better than that. Wasted years in my opinion. Would anyone settle for another 5 years of the same?
  12. Full member. My mate retired last year and we always said we would spend some time at OT. Went last Thursday and thoroughly enjoyed it. c£160 - not too bad we didn’t think. Parking behind pavilion £4:50 as well which was a lot cheaper than I expected.
  13. I got told last night that he was retiring at the end of the season and that Duncan Ferguson was on the shortlist. Take that as being a rumour from someone apparently with links to rovers.
  14. It’s my first season as a member O2G’s. Sod’s law, I can’t make the York’s game😏
  15. Fantastic performance aided hugely by PNE allowing us acres to run into behind their back four. Did their manager not do his homework? Very happy tonight.
  16. Is anybody confident because I’m not.
  17. I expect rovers to come out second half thinking the games won. It isn’t if we don’t keep pressing them up front.
  18. If any Northenders niggle you, just remind them that nobody under the age of 62 has ever seen them in the top division. Apart from that, don’t remind them that Rovers were 19 points ahead of PNE earlier in the season - and now, a team having a poor season themselves, will only be 2 points behind us if they beat us. How crap is that?
  19. I remember them being relegated.
  20. Blimey. Man Utd players don’t even walk fast.
  21. I think it’s much more basic Arbitro. We started the season using the long ball over the top for Brereton to use his strength and pace. Teams eventually saw that if they just defended deeper, we had nothing else to offer. That’s basically what every team has been doing for months now and we just don’t have any players capable of breaking teams down. Its a serious situation because it needs a complete rebuild of the entire squad. I doubt any manager could get the current squad suddenly tearing defences apart.
  22. Bingo. Thanks Herbie, I feel much better now 🙂
