  1. I’m surprised it’s taken the sickness so long to kick in. I lost a stone and a half in weight in 4 weeks when I worked there.
  2. Yes Tyrone, but it’s not just that. We haven’t got that centre forward to get on the end of things in the area, to knock centre halves about, to win the flick ons that turn back fours towards their own goal. We’re completely sterile up there - and wide open at the back.
  3. He has us and Mowbrays layout weighed up. Open, expansive game leaving us wide open. Nothing up front.
  4. I’ve been saying it for quite a while now, but we’re playing without a centre forward. We don’t have anyone in the club capable of playing that position effectively.
  5. Have we all given up hope of getting anything other than another defeat? I have.
  6. The football is the same for every minute of every game. Nothing ever changes. It’s mind numbing watching it. One things for sure, Mowbray doesn’t have any answers.
  7. If you wanted to cash in as much as possible on the Brockhall land, while keeping the minimum Academy requirements on the site, this is how you’d do it - isn’t it?
  8. He’s heading for what he believes is the safer ground of “potential” squad value. In the article though, he doesn’t really say anything does he.
  9. It’s so very obvious that Venkys basic plan hasn’t shifted since they turned up here. Their financial plan for rovers was that this club could only survive by producing young players, sell them at a profit, reinvest then move forwards. I do wonder where they want to move forwards to, because they sold an entire Premier League squad to invest in youth. Is it to move forwards to a league we dropped out of because of their own plan of relying on producing young players worth good money? It’s the wrong plan for us at this moment in time anyway IMO. The plan surely has to be to get a manager in who can get us back into the Premier League which ever way’s possible. Number one plan has to be to get a manager who bases his reputation on results - whichever way that’s achieved. How it’s done shouldn’t matter in the least. Mowbray has this alternative get out with the owners. If we can’t win games, he focuses on the squad value and dangles the “big sale” carrot in front of the owners. He knows that very well and it makes life so very, very easy for not just him, but for any manager here. That’s why they last so long. Ive also got to say, that for owners and manager who focus entirely on youth development, building houses on half of a fantastic academy facility is a very strange way to proceed. Between the lot of them - have any of them any idea at all what they’re trying to do? It doesn’t look like it to me.
  10. Mowbrays quotes above are from this new LT article. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/19126978.rovers-owners-venkys-must-plan-future---mowbray/ Meaningless, baseless waffle.
  11. To have any real optimism for these games, we need to know we have the ability - at least sometimes, to keep the game very tight. To know that we “can” keep clean sheets. Unfortunately the chances of us doing that are as close to zero as it’s been with any rovers team in my 60 yrs of watching Rovers. I don’t know how anyone can think we’ll win this one. We probably will now. (No we won’t).
  12. It’s quite simple really, win games and nobody will be on Mowbrays back. People suggesting that isn’t a high priority are the problem.
  13. Ian Bell’s thoughts on England’s squad rotation. I think he makes good points, especially about form.
  14. What do “proper”, ambitious football clubs do? Do they hire managers because they might represent a steady hand, or someone who’ll not overpromise but do his best? Do they hire managers who might want five years to try to get things going on the field? No, they don’t, not if they’re ambitious. There is only one reason why ambitious clubs hire managers and it’s to WIN games. Win games as quickly as possible. That might happen quickly or might take a bit longer, but that’s the only criteria top clubs work on. They certainly wouldn’t put up with this crap were currently getting from Mowbray. You don’t need to be in the PL to be ambitious. You can be ambitious in the Blackburn and district league. If Venkys aren’t ambitious, what are they doing here?
  15. There have been more posts on this cricket thread today, than there has been all the time it’s been running.
  16. Root getting 5/8 against Indian batsmen brought up on turning wickets should tell us what’s happening. All he did was turn his arm over.
  17. The previous ball spun and bounced over his left shoulder Jim. This is the problem. Nobody can bat on it including the home players.
  18. Truth is neither side can bat on this. Pope out to a straight one, previous ball spun and turned over his left shoulder. If anyone knows how to bat on this wicket let the England team know.
  19. 180 minimum needed I reckon.
  20. Got to take the game to them here. Not rash, but positive.
