  1. EFL Website: Clubs are required to meet with a representative group of supporters at least twice a season to discuss significant issues relating to the club. The framework for each club’s specific consultation strategy is to be documented within its customer charter. Anyone know if Rovers have a documented customer charter? If so is it publicly available ?
  2. Preston's scouting and recruitment on a limited budget has been very successful over recent seasons. It's one thing we are sorely lacking and need to sort out as a priority.
  3. A couple of weeks ago I was all geared up to go to this match but then somehow just forgot about it. Only remembered this morning that we were even playing today. I think it's called Venkyitis and it just drains your enthusiasm. Only one cure as far as I know. Anyway, now that I have remembered and we have all our top defenders back I am brimming with confidence. ( Venkyitis also affects your judgement )
  4. Two relegations , a string of disastrous managerial appointments and the creation of a rudderless club suggest none of the above can match Venky's for ineptitude.
  5. If this current run was at the start of the season and we sat bottom of the league on 4 points after 9 matches I don't think anyone would be defending the manger. If we were a normal club with a competent board made up of people who understand football I would say now is the perfect time to change the manager - International break for him to settle in and then 8 games to assess the current playing staff. Then recruit over the summer ready for next season. However, we are not a normal club. VO.
  6. I think we are heading the same way now. This team is worse than the one he inherited despite the money he has spent. 4 points from 27 ( probably 4 from 30 after Villa ) seems to prove that.
  7. I used to play in a football team with Craig MacKay - Don's son. On a couple of occasions, despite being obviously busy at Rovers all week, Don came down to watch from the side lines. He never tried to tell us how to play but It terrified the opposition who thought he had come to scout one of our players. In that same team, incidentally, was Steve Archibald's brother and Neil Arthur of Blancmange fame.
  8. I hope you are right about beating Wednesday. I work in Preston and I am not looking forward to tomorrow morning.
  9. Unconfined joy at Bloomfield Road today by all accounts. Not because of the 2-2 draw with Southend but because the fans' sense of belonging has returned. They have got their club back and can celebrate as one. Who knows what the future holds but they have got something to believe in again. I'm jealous.
  10. So we had a converted midfielder, a right back and a left back as our 3 central defenders. A right midfielder at left back and a centre midfielder at right back. Is anyone surprised they looked lost! Nothing makes any sense at the moment.
  11. Exactly right. Venky's stated early on that one of the main reasons they bought Rovers was to act as an advertising vehicle for their company. Nothing has changed
  12. Tweet doesn't mention it being a trial or anything more than a 3 month visit. Nice top he's got on - anyone know where I can get one ?
  13. I think you are right. There are a number of things to consider regarding Dack: Celebrity lifestyle, loss of form ( and motivation ), tendency to look a little heavy, off field issues - court cases, not doing community service on time etc. He's got baggage. If he's not performing at his best on the pitch then other clubs may decide not to take a risk on him unless he's going for a bargain price.
  14. This is the key issue - the owners. We can rant and rave about the manger ( who isn't good enough) and the team ( who aren't good enough) but until we get owners who understand football and care about the club we are going nowhere. We need a proper board and infrastructure to allow us to function as a real football club with ambitions. The owners are the root of all our problems. I don't rate Mowbray at all but I don't think anyone will succeed at Rovers under Venky's. I think we need to ramp up the protests again. Venky's Out.
  15. A very subservient view. Not a lot of point in having 'an evening with Tony Mowbray' if you can't ask questions! Supporters are the lifeblood of any club. Managers are temporary employees.
  16. What is our record number of consecutive defeats ?
  17. It's such a depressing situation. Even if Venky's authorise some spending we still have no infrastructure in place to make use of it at the right time. Before we start thinking about new players we need to sort out the club behind the scenes and make it functional. Despite their money, our owners are a massive handicap.
  18. I think Mowbray has done just about enough to have another go next season - but it's a close call for me. I think one major problem is his closeness to Waggott. I think they are both decent men but Waggott's remit is to cut costs wherever possible which may account for Mowbray's reluctance to spend in January. The summer recruitment was an expensive flop and another window like that may have had Venky's on their backs. Mowbray has a long term contract so he won't be feeling too much pressure and is probably happy to be persuaded by Waggott that things are OK without splashing out at the moment. Their futures are probably intertwined so if Venky's think Waggott is doing a good job, Mowbray is safe and secure. Waggott is a money man not a football man. I would be happier with Mowbray if he had a more demanding, football savvy boss who put pressure on him to achieve more - feeling satisfied because we are 'doing nearly as well as Preston' is just nonsense. He needs to be more ambitious. If the setup remains the same then I don't expect much improvement and I would then probably think a change is required. Having said that, a change is unlikely to bring anything better so what's the answer ? I'm not sure there is one at the moment.
  19. This is exactly how I see it too. A long term contract with his chum as CEO is great for Mowbray but not good for Rovers' progression - as evidenced by the lack of ambition in the last window. I think the Chapman signing was just to appease the fans a little - doesn't look like he will play much this year - we could have waited until the summer and saved half a season of wages or got a useful loan player in Overall I think this season has been drab at best.
  20. Sorry - That is very true but the fans voted to allow him to take over and made sure he was going to run the club in a way that they approved. I think the Portsmouth Supporters Trust still has a seat on the board.
  21. One day (soon maybe) they will be back in the Championship along side us and they will be fan owned. Imagine having people who actually care about the club making the decisions! Good luck to them ( and Luton too for that matter)
  22. I noticed the same at Preston, Wigan and Sheff Utd. No fighters or leaders in the team
  23. I honestly feel we could have done business in the last window. Good players available and Venky's interested in buying but maybe Mowbray didn't want to gamble. End result is we are well short of depth in the squad and we rely on a couple of key players. I don't care what their wages are but BA or CA and a decent right back in our team today would have made all the difference. No ambition means no progress. We should have strengthened in the window - no doubt about it.
  24. No bottle when it gets tough - Bristol, Swansea, Preston, Wigan, Sheff Utd, Brentford how many more to come ?
