  1. After O'Brien and Maguire I'd be amazed if anyone is willing to let us have a loan to buy type agreement anyway.
  2. Difference is I guarantee they spend some of the proceeds on good Championship talent rather than scraping the barrel for anyone willing to play for headpats and tummy rubs.
  3. I don't disagree, but that doesn't change the fact that every season we collapse the second the squad gets stretched by fixtures and part of that is due to our squad being threadbare. Relying in the likes of Tyjon and Duru is at this point no different to having a Semir or Billy K because we have no idea if they can make that step. We need numbers AND we need quality, not either or. Even if the core we have now is good enough we will struggle when injuries and suspensions set in.
  4. Aren't we 8 players or so down from our first team squad last season anyway? So if that were the case l, at best we'd be 2 players down on the threadbare squad that collapsed when the fixtures piled up last season. There is absolutely zero planning for success in our structure, Waggott just learned that blowing smoke up the general fan by claiming we were going for play-offs is better PR than last seasons "we might survive".
  5. We've heard that 100 times at this point and yet there always seems to be a hitch when it comes to getting things over the line. Since Tony left there hasn't been even a hint at building a team properly. Times running out to prove me wrong this window.
  6. He did, and so did Steele and Walton. All of them looked awful at times for us, yet all of them find themselves Premier League keepers whilst we flap about keeping our heads above water in the Championship. The same coaching staff throughout that entire time on our end - makes you think.
  7. Yup, I noticed on my lunch break someone has posted the delay on the facebook supporter's group and was getting absolutely hounded for "being negative" when our nee signings are doing so well. The vast majority won't react until the club is already gone.
  8. If the Venkys can't (or won't) fund the club and the club is relying on its own internal fundraising to be able to function then they offer zero value and need to sell up. Simple as that. The FA/EFL should be all over any owners that either do nothing or strip clubs but of course they still fit under "fit and proper" for some reason.
  9. Tbf most people of any profession won't accept being paid in buttons and IOUs so doesn't surprise me in the slightest.
  10. We've still got a poor manager and we have a squad that has lost its only decent player from last season, I'm not sure what anyone was expecting. Burnley will put 5 or 6 past this lot.
  11. Am I imagining set pieces supposedly being one of the strengths of Eustace's backroom team when they arrived?
  12. Almost as if we've neglected to work on improving a relegation level team.
  13. In which case we should be seeing some come in. The squad is somehow considerably smaller than last season and whilst there is the argument that we've started well in an attacking sense we also need to bear in mind Sammie was on when the majority of those goals were scored. Will be a massive loss but there is an opportunity to use this as an opportunity to create a better squad... wishful thinking I know.
  14. It can be found wanting as much as it likes if he scores a goal a game. We've had enough strikers who are allegedly good away from goal but utterly useless in front of it.
  15. The current league system makes competition very difficult and those teams that do go up suddenly have resources more than every team in the Championship combined. The fact that the powers of be don't see this as an issue is bewildering.
  16. I appreciate we're looking to sell him, but which moron decided it was a good idea for him to not even train for the last month?
  17. I was thinking that. Decent signings but yet again we will need half a squad next summer regardless of where we end up.
  18. A good day with a lot of potential, but still a long way short of what we need to be competitive this season. However, some out of the box thinking that hopefully comes off better than the likes of Ennis and Telalovic. We definitely need a keeper, at least one full back and one or two wingers, and that's assuming we don't lose Szmodics, Dolan, Hyam etc. Hyam had a bad season but if we were to get him off the books and replace with McFadz and Batth we'd be mad. On a personal note, there's something about Ohashi that makes me really want him to well regardless of everyone else and I can't place what it is. Potential cult hero in the making if he can kick off right.
  19. Neither was Dolan when he joined tbf. If he's good enough, he's old enough. All gambles but at least ones that could come off, which is a nice change. Next priority needs to be a keeper though, we can have all the strikers in the world but I expect we'll play tight games with Eustace and Pears drops too many clangers over a season for a team playing that way.
  20. Maybe that's a reference to some past transgression, but I'd love to see what in his post you're refuting, as it's all fairly common knowledge at this point. Even if the first transfer is finalised we're still a net negative from a dire squad last season. We'd need 3 or 4 good players in (not a bunch of nobodies with zero experience) before I'd feel even the slightest bit better about oir predicament.
  21. That is another beauty. Macron really have outdone themselves again this year.
  22. It's going to take a miracle to salvage next season as it stands. I think we are comfortably in line for a 24th placed finish and may even be fighting for that all-time low points tally. Eustace may genuinely never see a home win if this is the squad we're going with. If Venkys can't/won't fund us and we have to be completely self sufficient, then we may as well be supporter run. Either scenario is not sustainable, but at least with one it's ran by people who care. But of course, like many clubs before us, the FA/EFL won't do anything and will let the club rot.
  23. Ultimately we'll see who is chosen, and they will get their chance, English or otherwise. I highly doubt we're ever going to get runs as "easy" as the last few tournaments, so whoever comes in is going to have to step it up as far as the football goes. There will be risks with all of them, but most of the names mentioned certainly have both positives and negatives. Even the likes of Pep and Klopp have big question marks when it comes to tournament football, and for me Pep's football is as boring as Southgate's but in a different manner. They have some time now to properly look at it and not rush a decision and hopefully they have a succession plan in place.
  24. Stones was also very good and Konsa came in out of the cold and looked solid as well. The defence was mostly solid, but we need to get a new LB in the squad. Biggest issue is clearly how we move forward, and that is as much a manager issue - we have no identity moving forwards because the manager doesn't like attacking.
  25. I saw someone saying Gareth was better than Sven because he got to finals. Sven lost to a generational Brazil team, was robbed in 2004 by a refereeing decision and admittedly was poor in 2006. But Gareth loses every one of those games too. He is tactically inept but manages to scrape past poor teams through moments of brilliance and luck.
