  1. I feel like friend needs a manager who will help him transition to centre haf
  2. One of the many things I loved about Tugay is how he clearly loved being here. A genuine one off in many ways, the best player I've ever seen seen at ewood and my favourite player by a country mile.
  3. People have short memories when it comes to Rothwell I find. Second to last game of the season vs reading he was outstanding. For me his position is left of a midfield 3. He needs the ball to feet and to drive
  4. Refusing to play Harrison Reed in centre mid still winds me up. Didnt know his position like smallwood does but one didnt play a league game all season and one is about to start a playoff final.
  5. I'd take david stockdale as an experienced number 2 keeper. Rob elliot also available on a free. Luke Garbutt as an attacking left back could be a good shout
  6. Chapman as a wingback is completely nonsensical. He cant do the other side of the game. He doesn't work hard enough. His body cant get him up and down the pitch. Maybe for 15 mins at the end of a game when we are losing.
  7. I feel pretty sure we played 4-3-3 vs reading. Travis johnson Rothwell Brereton Holtby Armstrong With Holtby dropping into the hole In possession.
  8. Every time we try the 4-2-2-2 it doesn't work. The two wide 10s come inside to the extent that we dont look to cut through anyone. He has tried it before this season and it looks rubbish. It also opens you up on the counter. Why Mowbray had cycled back to it from the 4-3-3 that looked positive against reading is strange it's almost as if he still doesn't know what he is trying to do. I know it doesn't sound much but that one change to the formation between reading and Luton has worried me massively. He doesn't have a clue of how he is going to build a system that can get us to the playoffs. I used to feel like the 4-2-3-1 with one striker out wide and one defensive winger really straitjacketed us but at least there was some consistency to it and the players understood their jobs. He wants a new passing style but hasn't committed to a system to achieve it. This season weve played 4-3-3, 4-4-2, 4-4-2 diamond, 4-2-3-1, 3-4-2-1. I understand a little experimentation post dacks injury but it just highlights 1) mowbrays inability to coach players to fit a plan 2) mowbrays lack of direction. Oh he is flexible I hear you say, well how he uses and pidgeonholes his players shows his stubbornness. I suppose he hasnt done a bad job on the whole. He just frustrates me
  9. The switch to a 4-4-2 hasn't worked at all here.
  10. A quick look over the man city and liverpool squads suggests that isnt true at all. You get the odd maverick at this level who this applies to but I'm not sure Chapman is talented enough to be in that bracket especially after losing a yard of pace.
  11. If wigan go down Robinson has a release clause of £1.5million. Which is incredibly cheap considering he nearly went to AC Milan for £10 mil
  12. I was assuming they dont rate the youngsters. If they think either has a chance of making it and they have been in training then they need to be playing.
  13. From what I've seen of Buckley he seems to lack composure in front of goal, thinking his miss on Saturday and huddersfield away where he looked unfamiliar being almost 1v1 and shat himself. Both his 1st team goals came from outside the box (both sides by deflections I think). My instinct is he will end up deeper as an 8 pulling the strings but it would be hard to justify that at the moment, he needs to develop physically and defensively. In terms of our shape saturday we definitely defended as a 4-3-3 with holtby pressing like a 9 through the middle with Armstrong left and brereton right. What worked better was Holtby found space more effectively (game was more open) dropping deeper than he has done previously. Travis sat closer to johnson and Rothwell often roamed from the left cm position to good effect.
  14. We haven't got another goalkeeper anywhere near the standard. Leutwiler is worse. The young lads they .just not rate
  15. To me on saturday we played Travis Johnson Rothwell Brereton Holtby Armstrong With holtby dropping deeper and Rothwell floating when in possesion
  16. To be fair he was playing on the right of the 3. Great goal but strengthen mowbrays resolve in playing him there
  17. An entertaining games today. To pick out some performances.. Brereton - took his goal well (poor defending) looked good In general play but missed 2 other good chances. Rothwell - my MotM, a constant threat, drove at their defence and got a goal and an assist. Carter - very steady debut. Didnt do much wrong defensively and kept it very simple with his passing. JRC - looks good but I'm not sure yet where he ends up. Buckley- there is such a good player in there. Needs to be more robust and more decisive In front of goal Chapman- I've written him off bu looked bright and could be a width option off the bench Holtby - best performance that I've seen from him Gally- brave header more of that please
  18. Shoot me down but I'm not quite getting the brereton hype after this.
  19. Rothwell and Armstrong look so good atm it's scary.
  20. Rothwell needs a consistent run in the side on the left of this midfield 3. When he is being positive like today he is so exciting to watch.
  21. If we are doing a no budget blood the youth thing then I'd rather it wasn't mowbray doing it.
  22. I wouldn't say no debate. Armstrong has had a much stronger second half of the season. Travis has been consistent all season.
  23. Wasnt defending mowbray just think this Roy Keane idea is a bit silly
  24. Mowbray has the won the championship more recently than Roy Keane and playing a very attractive style of football.
