Eustace this. Lowe that. The minute we replaced Barker with Forshaw and then Tronstadt got injured our fate was sealed.
-
Even Karanka is probably watching this thinking "fuck that shit"

Fucking Hedges and Pears

Not sure why it takes 3 minutes to decide the ref has made a “clear and obvious” error.

We need two draws and lots of red cards.

Meanwhile in the Savoy, unbeknown to those at Ewood, "Hello Aitor. My name is Suhail"

I enjoyed last Saturdays game at Ewood, but Plymouth looked fairly bad by Championship standards. Very little about them. That's why I didn't get over-excited by some of the individual performances from our players. They do it regularly against more average Championship opposition. I've not seen much of Derby so I've no idea if they fall into that category of teams who on a given day most clubs can beat most other clubs. Probably looking at 6 wins minimum (or 18 points).

Bookies odds are largely just due to weight of money. Because the bookies have already taken a lot of money on him a few days ago he will probably still be their biggest liability (or more likely their 'smallest' profit). Therefore they don't want anyone else backing him so keep him short odds. Once they take enough money on other candidates they will naturally push him out to make him a bit more appealing.

I know. No-one (well certainly not me) is saying anything as definite. It’s all pure speculation. However IF Karanka got it I’d be very disappointed, and I would think the relationship made when signing Gestede back in 2017 is a big part of the reason he would be given the job.
-
We don’t know anything because we are not employed by rovers or part of the interview process. But he’s not managed in the UK since 2021 after failing badly at Brum. Due to the supposed vast number of possible candidates, the fact that our very inexperienced director of football appears to have green lighted interviewing his former manager who gave him one of his biggest move in professional football is leading to speculation.
-
The reason Karanka appears so “bad” is he’s failed at Forest, Birmingham then Granada. I don’t mind a manager who has failed at a club, but to fail at 3 on the bounce is very Coyle-esque. With 150 applicants he really shouldn’t be the outstanding candidate. Based on his recent record, he’d have to be one hell of a charmer in his interview to get it.

Karanka now into single figure odds.
-
Possibly cos he did Rudy a favour and signed him for Boro.
-
He was the most likely candidate on paper from day 1 from a Gestede angle. However we know Waggot does like to go his own way when it suits (Fleck, Eustace). It wouldn’t surprise me if Rudy is pushing for Karanka, but Waggot wants to interview the rest of the field.

I don’t think they spent much under him, and he was 6th when he got sacked at West Brom. Wouldn’t be my choice though.

From the West Brom forum just before he was sacked:-

So was Ashley Ward. 😄

Valerien Ismael the latest betting move. 33/1 into 5/1 on Skybet

I don't even know where to start with replying to that ! But yes, that's what I said.

Well league position clearly isn't everything otherwise Eustace would still be here. And JDT couldn't 'walk away' in the summer, so unless somebody takes it on a 13 game contract how would they be able to 'walk away'?
-
Confirmed no investment of the money received for Wharton. Szmodics sold and not reinvested. Never ending court case being adjourned to halt funding. No existing players seemingly offered new contracts for over a year. Half the squad currently leaving in the summer. Other key players leaving as it stands in 2026. Other than league position, it’s a clearly less attractive than last year. If we don’t go up there looks to be an impossible job on.
-
In that scenario I'd be playing 4 up top and sending keeper up for every corner in the last 10 minutes.

West Brom currently sit 6th with 48 points after 33 games. That is the lowest points tally for a 6th place team in 20 years after 33 games (and possibly further, I stopped checking). However its difficult to draw parallels with previous years. Last season after 33 games, 6th place had 54 points. Therefore this year is tracking 6 points behind last year, where 73 was enough for play offs. However in 20/21 at this point 6th place only had 49 points (the next lowest I could find), and yet by the end of the season you needed 77 points to get in, one of the higher totals required.
