  1. There's always the casual fan interested in a game like this. There's 4 going from my work who, despite all being Rovers fans and having a history of attending previously, haven't paid to go to a game all season.
  2. No it was "What I do know is that money can’t buy a thriving and positive culture in a football club or any organization." when talking about how close the Liverpool squad and Klopp all seem, and that's true. Sometimes you can bring in all the big money signings you want but it won't equate to a great team spirit. Look at the end of Roy Hodgson's Ewood career.
  3. EDDIE HOWE has told his Newcastle United players to put last night’s thrashing at Arsenal behind them as they turn their attention to their “biggest game of the season” at Blackburn on Tuesday night.
  4. Yep. Fair play to the Liverpool kids, but as a Chelsea fan you’d be furious at that extra time performance. Having said that, the Liverpool keeper was outstanding in normal time.
  5. Being nowhere near the top 4, and having not won anything for generations, Howe would be stupid not to be giving the FA cup his full attention.
  6. Never rated him that highly untill he ran rings around us a couple of weeks ago.
  7. With QPR at home to Rotherham and Sheff Wednesday at home to Bristol City this weekend, the table could look a bit more grim for a lot of the teams around the bottom if they lose tomorrow.
  8. A win and Wharton to go right through Ashley Barnes would make my weekend.
  9. That's nonsense. People wanted Walhstedt out the team because some of the goals (Huddersfield opener, Watford at home) were stuff you'd really expect your first choice keeper to be dealing with. We know Pears has clangers in him, but they seem to be further apart than Leo's one every other game. I don't know how saying Pears "Not being great himself" is massively overstating his abilities either. I prefer @RevidgeBlue take on this. I wanted Wahlstedt in early season as I thought he would be better. However I'm not stubborn enough to admit I was wrong. People seem to either not want to admit that, or not want to admit Gregg signed an absolute dud for a significant fee.
  10. The problem being that Leo was conceding from shots which shouldn’t really have been any kind of test. Despite not being great himself, Pears is simply a level above Wahlstedt.
  11. If we win it’s probably worth £250,000k to the club even without the share of any gate receipts in the next round. Add in gate receipts with the right tie and it could be worth £500k+ That could blow Swag’s targets out of the water.
  12. I'd like to win either here or on Saturday so we can have a go at Newcastle. If the gap to the bottom 3 is down to just 1 win, I think we would ring the changes next Tuesday.
  13. It's not just when he is on on the ball. On Saturday he seemed to come out of tussles very few times with the ball and at times in that second half they drifted past him fairly easily. I'm not digging him out. He's clearly the first name on the team sheet in midfield and has been the one transfer success of the season. But he's had to play every minute of every game since mid-October apart from when we sacrificed him at Huddersfield and Southampton due to being well behind.
  14. To be honest he's not been as good recently. I thought he was poor at Preston, but as you say he probably needs a break as we are reliant on him every minute of every game.
  15. I've been looking how that compares to our previous strikers, and surprisingly it's roughly the same strike rate as Mike Newell had for Rovers.
  16. Wonder if he will take the cups seriously, or if he ‘forfeits’ them like some of our previous managers.
  17. Another defeat. Let's hope for some inspiration and fighting talk from our senior players and captains. "Don't boo us, we're trying. It upsets the younger lads and dominates our half time discussions".
  18. He has left his well-paid contract at Sheff United to come here for the same length of time, so he won't be on £1k a week. Therefore , under the financial circumstances, why the fuck did we bring him in until the end of the season if he can't play till April? To me it stinks of being a knee-jerk reaction to the knee-jerk reaction of selling Wharton. All this whilst Travis is out on loan. As the footballers at the club come under the remit of Broughton, I'm adding Travis and Fleck to the list of fuck ups along with Wahslted, Mola, the Maguire situation and countless others. And before someone jumps in, of course it's Venkys who cut the budgets and allow these incompetents to be employed so ultimately it's their doing.
  19. Todays dragging at work so.... TEAM. W / D / L Burnley 0 / 3 / 6 Preston 4 / 3 / 8 Blackpool. 7 / 5 / 2 Wigan 4 / 6 / 8 Bolton 5 / 1 / 8 OVERALL W20 / D18 / L32 Win ratio 25.8% We also:- • Failed to beat Oldham in the league in League one • Have a negative (4/11/5) record against Huddersfield * Got put out of the League Cup by Morecambe in our only ever meeting.
  20. Good old Gregg. Paying someones wage for 8 weeks before he can even be considered.
  21. Next Saturday against Burnley might be the time. 👍
  22. I'm not sure they did know they were selling Wharton. Had the court case gone as planned and Venkys been allowed to send funds I think Wharton would have stopped till the summer. It was a knee-jerk reaction in my view. We will only have received a portion of the fee up front, but it will tie us over until more funds can be released. As many people say, if the judge says no we will be screwed. Regardless, if we do go down, loaning out Travis will go down in Rovers history as one hell of a stupid decision. For me, Tronstadt is steady but isn't the upgrade on Trav people make out. I'd be happier at Preston with a Tronstadt / Travis midfield than any we are likely to field.
