  1. We've lacked firepower and attacking threat all season but a solid defence and central midfield have been the foundation to our success so far. We shot up the league courtesy of 6 wins on the bounce, with 4 of them being 1-0 where we proved difficult to break down and then pinched a goal. The problem being we now have both central midfielders out injured and our third choice has been recalled by Stoke, meaning we are relying on players who have always been deemed not good enough, or Adam Forshaw who has arrived on a free transfer after failing to get in Plymouth's team ! Our problems up front are made worse by the loss of Ohashi, who may just be industrious yet limited, but was our top scorer when he got injured and the best option we had. Throw in another key injury in Harry Pickering, and then notice we are playing our 34 year old free transfer Danny Batth 90 minutes of every game since October, and you are getting the picture. We've still been good enough recently to be competitive, but losing Tronstadt on Saturday means we are crying out for re-inforcements which will not arrive till the very end of the transfer window (if we can find the send button). However, as @ben_the_beast says above, the defence is still difficult to break down so there's always the chance of us nicking something. There's a slight chance Lewis Travis may be back which would be a big help.
  2. Not great by Beck turning his back on the ball there.
  3. That would be more crazy. It’s a long while since I’ve seen anyone get turned so easily in the middle of the park.
  4. Maybe Oxford put a bid in for it?
  5. We had Tronstadt yesterday. Be interesting to see if he’s on the bench Tuesday.
  6. Pears Brittain. Hyam. Batth. Beck ACD. JRC Buckley Hedges Weimann Gueye
  7. Radio Lancashire obviously didn’t tell him how bad he was in that second half.
  8. If Pickering was fit, Beck in midfield would be an option like we did with Warnock years ago. Alas, the squad is that piss weak we haven’t got another left back.
  9. Disagree. Armstrong and Szmodics didn’t have one and scored plenty. We need goals. And a midfield. A winger with pace would only give more chances to those up front who are generally lacking. Dont get me wrong though. I’d like the midfielder, striker and winger.
  10. Buckley / JRC couldn’t get a look in for a midfield start when Baker was here. We are now relying on one of them or a poor Forshaw for the foreseeable future. Therefore we are clearly weaker in central midfield than we were in December. A central midfielder has just jumped alongside a striker as our most desperate requirement.
  11. Portsmouth gone infront against Boro.
  12. We knew Baker was going back to Stoke a few days before he was recalled. Now we know that Tronstadt could be out for a few weeks, and that Forshaw makes Baker look like Patrick Viera, let’s hope it wakes a few people up. As I said at the time, we didn’t need a ‘squad player’. We needed a player who would be first choice for January, and then again if either Trav or Sondre got injured.
  13. Has some guy not just had a clear shot from 14 yards that Pears had to save? Or did I imagine that? Also did Pears not that volley that he didn’t connect with wide? You’re bias is legendary.
  14. Yep. This second half every time he tries to close down he gets turned, and the free kick came from an awful misplaced pass.
  15. Once upon a time you’d groan and say “we’ve seen this before, we know how this ends”. Now we smile and say it.
  16. So you were unhappy with what was happening, but decided that you’d still continue to watch rather than cutting off your nose to spite your face. Kind of like being unhappy with TV moving football kick off times but still deciding to watch.
  17. Let’s not forget that you once said that you wouldn’t get a season ticket if Owen Coyle was appointed manager, and then did.
  18. As of last year, you received £125k for being a live TV game, and only £55k for being on I player. Thats such a nominal amount that you can't even have the argument the club should use that to subsidise lower tickets for an inconvenient date / time.
  19. 1st one clearly isn't, but as the Burnley player isn't trying to play the ball it should be a red card. 2nd one I think is. I really hope that Sheff united game on the last day of the season is a dead rubber for us but crucial for their automatic promotion.
  20. I'm sure Ty will jump at agreeing to that rather than let his contract run down.
  21. On Assanthe, this seams a balanced view from West Brom fans.
  22. It wasn't actually. "Did well under Eustace. Doesn't seem suited to the way we play now but wouldn't be a surprise if Eustace got him playing well again." Leeds fans have hated Bamford for a couple of seasons at least now.
  23. My issue with Rudy was when he said one of the reasons we couldn't spend money on players was because "the money we receive for outgoing transfers is paid in instalments". The club has since rowed back and acknowledged that incoming transfers are also 'paid in instalments' so it shouldn't make a difference. The problem is, once Rudy is caught out trying to pull the wool over the fans eyes you then start to doubt everything he says. The Forshaw signing looked a strange one on paper, and now we have the Boro link it starts to look a little bit 'lazy'.
