  1. As a season ticket holder, I must say I do have sympathy with the club, especially losing two big money makers in the Leeds and WBA games. I can even stomach not receiving any refund, but the idea of paying for a cardboard cut out of myself-£25.00 or £45.00 for one in pride of place- seems a wee bit tacky. I wonder if we could get giant ones of Steve Kean/Jerome Anderson/Owen Coyle? How the mighty have fallen!
  2. Interesting reading between the lines about his views on the current coaching set up (not TM)...which delayed Ryan Nyambe's progress... Hodgson's signings were not rated by the other players and there was clearly a bad atmosphere in that relegation season. And doesn't he just love Brian Kidd!!
  3. Not sure about the persuasion of "numerous managers". Take Samuel, for instance. He has been given contracts by Reading and Rovers and been loaned out 5 times. Of his 21 goals, 8 have been scored at Championship level ( after a quick scan of Wiki!) Brereton is interesting in that he made 53 appearances for Forest, as a very young player, indeed. So they must have thought he was good, (but not necessarily £7 million good lol) Meanwhile, Sam Gallagher seems to have enjoyed his best-ever return as a very young player in a piss poor, Owen Coyle Rovers team.
  4. I think " the football family" is indeed sentimental nonsense. It is all about dog- eat- dog Darwinism and greed. Any help would only be forthcoming, if it were in the interests of the "giver".
  5. I guess I was being ironic. I don't believe for one second that Brereton, Samuel or Gallagher are good enough!
  6. To misquote Jack, why do you need Lyle Taylor, when you have got Ben Brereton/Sam Gallagher/Dom Samuel?
  7. Thanks for posting. Enjoyed it. Both seem, who have their heads screwed on. But I can't see DG getting another deal...(unless it is strictly appearance-based...)
  8. This makes me angry all over again, so thanks, Vinjay! One thing I don't get is even after all this "our club/our fault" contrition/aka "learning from their mistakes", we had to stomach a whole sickening parade of car-crash, awful appointments-Shebby Singh, Paul Agnew, Paul Senior....all the way to Owen Coyle, so...do I feel lucky?!
  9. Lol..Sometimes a messageboard can seem like a court of law...
  10. What an epitaph too...dying just after Rovers beat Burnley...
  11. Ouch! It is almost as if you could have written that in Latin lol
  12. You're not kidding! I am late to the party with this one. I have only just watched it. I didn't expect it to be literal, but why they should deviate quite so far from the historical facts I don't know. I had forgotten quite a lot of Rovers' history, but I knew we had been in the final against Old Etonians before Olympic actually won it. I was surprised to see that Old Etonians had hardly won it at all in real life. Also, I am sure others will know that Suter never played for the first Blackburn team to win the FA Cup. Also, Rovers were never even questioned about the payment of players. I don't know about Olympic. Others were actually expelled from the competition. I think PNE were one such club. Bastards, even then lol Making "Blackburn" play in claret rankled a little, but I suspect someone on the production team is having a laugh. At least, they painted Monkey Hornby, as an all-round good egg!
  13. So do I. Abject failure of leadership and lack of moral courage.
  14. You are right there, but it is too hard to resist a dig at the self righteous concept of "football integrity"..
  15. Was that the "Timmy's got red boots on" game? (Sherwood tapping his foot to the beat of the away fans' chant, as he picked up the ball for a throw-in..)
  16. Yes..It was Barrow..Well remembered!..The caller went on about both PNE and his own Barrow, as being Kidd shipwrecks and Rovers fans better beware etc
  17. Kidd certainly managed PNE..but way back I think he also managed a nonleague side, although I can't find proof! . I remember a (bitter) supporter from that other club contacting Radio Lancs on his Rovers appointment to predict total disaster, saying how everything he touches, as a manager, turns to sh1t It sent a chill through our whole house!..
  18. Actually, I think we all need to stop beating ourselves up-well I do anyway-about this and results like the away win at Old Trafford under Kean. The awful truth is that Kean was staying, come what may... because it was..er.. before "they learned from their mistakes" Hahahahahahahahaha
  19. 1989 Selhurst Park for me too. A wild card entry would be Burnley v Orient in May 1987-well there were lots of Rovers fans in the crowd-I saw them!
