  1. What? The biggest scandal in the town for many years, involving hundreds of jobs and millions of pounds1 Imagine, if it was the MEN or Liverpool Echo!!!
  2. Why? I thought it was just ironic shorthand for its long spell, as an uncritical, party-line ( non) newspaper...
  3. Agreed. I know I have a bee in my bonnet about "how bad it was in the 80's" and "our natural level etc"..and I am on a mission from God to challenge it.....on line lol You are so right about our constant bereavement, as bigger clubs poached managers and players. I was working in Burnley at the time they lost Coyle and they were gutted.(almost as gutted as I was when we appointed him!) It was the first time they had experienced it! With Furphy, Lee, Smith and Kendall Rovers fans had lost four good managers in a row. And it is a sign of the modern, foreign manager obsessed times that Dyche didn't leave long ago-for the likes of Everton, Leicester or Villa. What's the point of it all indeed. I have come to think of Rovers fans, as characters in a Beckett play. We are all upside down in a barrel of Venky sh**, awaiting the next repeat cycle of pointlessness!
  4. Thanks, but I think you will agree that compares very poorly to the Rovers' performance in the 80's?
  5. Sorry. I know I am in danger of labouring this point, but we made a much better fist of it in the 80's. Twice we missed out only on the last day and we were in the top 2/3 certainly up to Christmas on more than one occasion. Under Venky's, I can't recall Rovers even entering the playoff positions for more than 10 minutes under Bowyer- and that it with shedloads of parachute and transfer fees received! It feels pretty pointless. We are treading water ...and losing money! Apart from all that, I agree with you!
  6. Enjoyed the interview. Always loved Don Mackay and actually felt a bit uncomfortable/ashamed, when he was sacked after all he had done. Not saying it was wrong, but it didn't feel good(for me.) A few years later, the night after the Cantona Kung Fu incident, I was driving up the motorway with the radio on. Don was on a Radio 5 live phone -in. One of the callers-with a distinct, Lancashire accent- was arguing that Cantona should be banned for the season/for life/for ever etc. Don joked- "Isn't that because you want Blackburn Rovers to win the title!" I laughed out loud. However, the best bit came right at the end, when the caller said, "We still love you at Blackburn, Don. God Bless!" And so we do!
  7. Agreed. And I seem to remember Desai spouting that the future was loans, just after the takeaway...
  8. Well, I admit that the headline irritated me. TM said something similar about previous summers.
  9. Not looked through any stats, but it certainly resonates with my perception. Maybe, "error after error" is slightly overstating it, but he certainly cost us points early on..
  10. Haha..Well, I bet Titus Oates doesn't screengrab this! And Rich Sharpe's original article was entirely reasonable and just a local journo doing his job.
  11. Always Lol? Stevie Kean's Blue and White Army? Sorry, but I was that child, who would always scratch my fingernails down the blackboard before the teacher arrived!
  12. Therapy at others' expense is not a model I would recommend!
  13. Lots of people taking delight in this. Some of it has got very nasty though. Glad I don't do twatter!
  14. I stress this is only a hypothesis! If Mulgrew does indeed have "such a clause", that may explain his decision to end his Wigan spell. In theory, it would have put him in a stronger position to push for a free transfer with Rovers paying up the rest of his contract?
  15. Lol As in... I have a dream today..I have a dream that on Saturday every tackle will be missed...
  16. The only possible excuse/explanation is that we only have a partial analysis. Maybe( yes, I know..) there are things about DS's, Chapman's fitness we don't know. I have to say that Rothwell gets better in fans' eyes, the longer he doesn't play.
  17. He is just being seen to stand up for a teammate in public. Nothing to see here.
