  1. Saw a great piece of graffiti on a bog wall once.. " Knowledge is knowing Frankenstein is not the monster. Wisdom is knowing that he is.."
  2. I think your disenchantment comes through in your recent posts. I never had Sky in the house and I no longer watch MOD...Premier League greed sickens me and that little wheeze of an attempted power grab was just embarrassing. As for the EFL, how can they pretend to believe in FFP, when their TV deal allows for certain teams to be televised all the time as others hardly feature.. The only point I would challenge is the implication that cheating is a new thing. Players have always cheated. Indeed, one of my favourite memories is Rochdale away, when our players attempted to collude, when the ref nullified a good Rochdale goal after our fans had fished the ball from the back netting and thrown it up into the away fans. MGP at Newcastle, anyone? Martin Olsen at Burnley ?
  3. I think we are at the stage of it being enough, just to get his wages off the books/paid for...
  4. Yep...but it might be an opportunity to suit all three parties?
  5. I remember a list of memes, which went down a bomb in politically correct social services departments... One was "You're different and that's bad!" haha
  6. In all the circumstances, I am very happy with the win. I worry what Davenport has done not to deserve a start previously. No idea why TM bothered with a contract for Chapman. Not sure whether Dolan's brilliance is more evident against tired legs. I just don't get the Gallagher situation. It looks like 3 players have been pitched in before the medical team believed they were ready-Ayala, Williams and possibly Travis? Despite the confidence boosting goal, Dack still looks a long way off. Not sure how you fit Arma, Dack and Elliot into the same team. And yet, the lone market and a steady centre back pairing would make such a difference to this team even after all the recent disappointments. Love Kaminski!
  7. I went to college with a Spanish guy, who was a big supporter of Athletico Bilbao. He educated me on the connections between our two clubs..Arthur Pentland and Bilbao's original colours etc. But......I am uneasy about the Trust's energy going into celebrating our illustrious past, when our present is such an abnormal shitshow. Bread and circuses etc And I think they erected the big picture of Ronnie Clayton at the Blackburn End, just as we were at the lowest ebb under Kean...as if that would placate us... Oops now I can hear John Prine in my head... For a heart stained in anger grows weak and grows bitter You become your own prisoner as you watch yourself sit there Wrapped up in a trap of your very own Chain of sorrow
  8. Now that is the one failing I just don't get-especially for an ex defender!
  9. ...said Flashman....The only thing to say now is that you remember, when BRFCS had fagging...
  10. Oh, so very true! It's New Years Eve and time is a strange thing, all right. I started to follow Rovers later than most kids. It was in 1968, when I was 12 years old. I do remember listening to the stories about the 1960 scandal, the 8-2 victory at Upton Park, the polio epidemic and relegation, as if it had happened a lifetime ago.. To think it was 25 years ago, when Rovers won the Premier League. Twenty five years before I started following the team, Britain was at war with Germany! Happy New Year!
  11. And the context is that this peak has been good enough for some, ever since they arrived in 2012.
  12. Now you've got me thinking about Gordon Lee and what he did with the Tony Field money-or some of it.
  13. Re resources, of course. I was there, but that wasn't the point I was making. When Don's time was up, I remember I couldn't join in with the "Macky Out" chants. He had tried and eventually failed-partly through lack of resources. But I will never forget that rotten feeling after we went down at Brentford. After everything else that had happened under Venky's, it felt like the end. TM gave us some pride back, when it had been drained from us. It does feel like the end of his time now...or it would, if we were a normal club. Personally, I don't want him to depart in acrimony and that is what will happen, if he doesn't resign.
  14. Agreed. I like the guy and I will always be grateful. I don't think he can improve this situation, but I can't call for his head. I felt the same with Don Mackay... I do have that luxury, as a mere fan. Were I leading a functional board of directors, I would have to act.
  15. I think he did though...ref. all his pre-match stuff about TM being lucky, being given time etc...
  16. I was disappointed, when we signed him. I was boycotting for most of the insulting Coyle season and missed SG's (possible) good period. I only started attending again with the Burton away game....so my SG expectations were low....
  17. I would be interested in TM's rationale for this. What is supposed to be happening/ What am I missing?(what is TM seeing) in SG's performances on the wing? Anyway, it looked like he was holding his hamstring on Saturday....
  18. Well, I did buy one and I know I will be one of many, who won't be bothered/forget to keep the receipt. I wonder how many of the 2,500 season ticket holders are concessions. My own deal seemed quite reasonable, but I don't think I'd have put my hand in my pocket, if it was last season, when I was paying full price. Clearly SW has made a mistake with the pricing structure and anyone, who did pay full price would be entitled to feel short changed. Not all will feel that way, though, and will merely make allowances for the club in the face of the EFL and the unusual circumstances.
  19. This! All the visible evidence seems to point to this being the season to go for it with the follow up plan of cutbacks, should we fail and FFP re-emerges. We are certainly off the pace, but the situation is redeemable, as long as we don't fall too far behind. But the question is how much more time should be allowed to go by before "they" decide that a managerial change is an absolute necessity to save this "make or break"season?
  20. How very rational of you! Whenever I get the frozen picture (and it is too often) I whinge, complain and swear about what a crock of shite ifollow is...and then, when the opposition - predictably- score from their first and only chance.......
  21. Never would have guessed...
