JDT saying that Travis was "one of the more expensive boys in our group" said it all. Anything to save a few quid a week. -
Not sure we collapsed. We only lost four games after the disaster at Rotherham in mid January. We started drawing a lot more but were unlucky not to win a couple of them at the end of the season (Coventry and Preston). We were a better side in the second half of the season than the first even if we didn't win as many games. The Leicester midweek FA Cup win followed up by beating Sheff Utd at home on the Saturday, we were outstanding in both games. Just a shame the only January addition was Sorba Thomas on loan, that season could have been the one....
-
Both things are true. We were hurtling towards the relegation zone and would have been in there within two or three more games had JDT not walked. But at the same time we hadn't been in a relegation battle, we fell from just outside the play-offs and there are far worse situations to inherit than 18th place and five points above the drop.

Odd. In what way did he have to deal with them? JDT did a very good job overall (note 'overall', rather than just his last few games and yes, I know he got Burnley away badly wrong) and people were angry that the club had messed him around. Our pretty poor results when Eustace came in meant people had some early doubts about him. All completely normal. Doing a great job now of course.

Really, he played a couple of excellent through balls in the first half through the eye of a needle. Class act. And even though you associate creativity more with things like through balls, he also stuck that cross right on Gueye's head. -

The Yak, scorer of our most recent Premier League goal.....god knows when the next one will be 🙁 -
Well done to the guy for refusing to name the 'manager' we had after Big Sam. And yep, the treatment Salgado and Nelsen received was a disgrace.

Dunn getting subbed for Liam Feeney in a Rovers-Burnley game at Ewood. Nice one Gaz. Varney starting over Gestede too. The defeat to them was coming - we'd got lucky with late equalisers the previous two games against them - but given they got promoted in 13/14 not losing that game would have prolonged the unbeaten run for another 18 months or so. -
Where's that from? I'd imagine there'd be an 'announcement' rather than straight on sale.
-
I think they said if any tickets are still left after today, there'll be an announcement on the 22nd. Hoping there'll be a decent amount left for ST holders with less than 270 points....

Burnley away tickets
frosty replied to simongarnerisgod's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Jealous 🙁 lack of away games costing me. Surely it'll be a miracle if there are any left after these three phases. Will have to be better prepared next time we're in the same division as them.... -

Playing them on the opening day in 1997, 1998 and 2001 means we played them on the opening day in three Premier League seasons in a row for us….some odds on that! -
The Summer Transfer Window (Press Submit)

Are the win/loss stats with Gallagher in the team still a thing even? Feels like it was something from the first half of 22/23. And given he missed most of the first half of last season when we were winning plenty but was back for the second half, I doubt the stats are of any relevance now. -

Ref absolutely couldn't wait to give that. Well in Brad. Unlucky to lose on the night, but a great record against United that season (won two, drawn one, lost one). Great times. -

Germany in the quarters, France in the semis. -
https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2024/july/08/memberships-available-for-2024-25-/ Does 1875 even give you priority to away tickets for this upcoming season? Can't see it on the benefits list. Or is it just the loyalty points? I've never had it before and completely disagree with the idea if I'm honest, but it had crossed my mind given how stressful it was getting tickets for Burnley away last time.

Italy were the best team in the tournament and stronger than in England in every position other than maybe attack (and even there, Chiesa was one of the players of the tournament). -
John Eustace - our head coach
frosty replied to chaddyrovers's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Embarrassing. 7 points clear when he took charge after the Stoke game. And, assuming that should read "we'd had a lot of defeats in a row" when he came in, we were actually on a run of......one defeat in a row in the league. -

And got knocked out of the cups to Morecambe at home and Wigan. It was great to have a manager in JDT who wanted to do well (and did) in the cups. -

Mental that though, innit? Bristol City aside I've appreciated what Eustace has done in the last few games or so. But JDT.....JDT was the one IMO, the chance to do something different after years of nothingness, the one who actually had genuine ambitions for Blackburn Rovers and who could quite easily have taken us there. And the club cocked it up. -

Did he really inherit a complete shambles? Makes it sound like what Bowyer took on twice in 12/13. Nothing like that. It had been an awful ten (only ten) games with a manager that had done a very good job but was starting to cast glances elsewhere (can’t blame him) and with some players that were disillusioned. And if Eustace did in any way inherit a complete shambles it’s more the club overall, recruitment, and the wastes of space off the field, i.e coming in straight after it’s confirmed that a third Jan transfer in 12 months has been sabotaged, best player sold and nowt spent, Waggott, Pasha, Venky’s.
