[Archived] Zurab Khizanishvilli
G Somerset Rover replied to colin's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
I like Zurab and wish him the best if he does move on. He's a steady defender and never complained once despite being out of the team for the majority of the time. In this day and age that is rare, so fair play to Zura. He does seem a bit too laid back at times to be a centre half, but he always gave his best for us. -
Extremely saddened by this news. Respected by everyone in the game - he will be badly missed. RIP Bobby

The right result for football. Messia, xavi and iniesta had me on the edge of my seat throughout the game. The latter two dictated the tempo and showed united's midfield how it's done. -

The problem we have with Benni - aside from his attitude, is that if he doesn't start the match then he's useless as a sub. He's got to be the worst impact sub I have ever seen. Only once did he come on like a man possessed, and that was the Cup match against Arsenal. Even then he ran off like a spoilt child. If he's not starting, then there's no point in having him in the squad. If he really does not get on with Ince, and Ince clearly does not see him as a big part of his plans, then why weren't we snapping off Sunderland and Gala's hands to anything over £6 million? -
I agree with the above. I'm quite sure that if we were after Kaka then Nicko would be the first to report it. It's hardly his fault that we're after the likes of Fowler, Andrews and any player with two legs whose willing to come for a trial.

[Archived] Mark Hughes - Good Choice ?
G Somerset Rover replied to Ste B's topic in Football Messageboard Archive
Absoloutely not. Now that he looks as if he's not in the Chelsea running, he has two options, choose City or resign-and lets face it he's hardly going to do the latter. He's played his hand, and ultimately he's come up short. There's no coming back. You only need to read Warnock's words to see that he will have lost the faith of the dressing room. Also despite being a little git, what would Bentley and all of his other signings think? It's a sad end to a very good job, but Hughes has to do the honourable thing now and that is to realise his risk didn't pay off, but join City all the same. -

Don't fret Joey...Moko is back from International duty Better to have a full squad and all that though I guess -
No offence Graham because I do agree with alot of what you say, but if you're wanting rid of 'fancy dans' and players who aren't giving 110% then Benni should be one of the first players out.

I know that some of Hughes' selections and substitions have been baffling in recent weeks, however it would show incompetence on behalf of the board should they EVER sack Hughes without him being given funds during his tenure here. There's a table on one of these threads that shows us bottom, by some margin, with regards to transfers in and out, and unless we back the manager then we cannot say that he hasn't done a good enough job. The time to assess Hughes' situation would be after we've backed him in the transfer market - but lets be honest this isn't going to happen anytime soon.

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport...rs_strikers.php Even Kevin Gallacher believes that Benni's body language and attitude isn't right at Rovers, and he too points to the penalty miss as a man who is "at ill with the world". It's even blatantly obvious from Hughes' comments that he's losing patience with the man - remember it was only a month or so ago that Hughes had to have stern words about his form and professionalism and now it looks like he needs to do this all over again. Of course he's a proven striker, but if there's any possible chance that Hughes has a ready made replacement lined up then get rid of him like a shot. Finally, for all those saying that Roberts has a poor attitude and that he shouldn't have handed a transfer request in, how would you have felt if you put in two excellent performances against Fulham and Newcastle only to find yourself being kept out by a guy in McCarthy, who was not only having one shocker after the other but also seemed to have poor attitude (I know he came off against Fulham). Fair enough he would have been out of order if he'd been benched because a guy was playing out of his skin, but when somebody's not putting an honest shift in it's time to give players like Roberts a chance. -

Just said it in the match thread too, but get rid of this idiot before he disrupts the harmony at the club further. You can tell he doesn't want to be here - he thinks he should be at Barca or Utd, so Id let some other mugs take him off our hands. He'll soon realise the grass isn't always greener, especially when a second rate club comes in for him. Great player when he's right upstairs but a childish prat when not - he looked like he'd done more major sulking when coming on today. This evening's lethargic 'few flicks' cameo summed up his season for me. -

I was pleased that Brazil equalised-hopefuly a draw to Estonia will get this numpty out of the job asap. So Bents gets a couple of under 21 motm's in a row...then a B motm but still McClaren tries Jenas and Dyer for the umpteenth time. A great advert for aspiring England International's here-work your way up through the International ladder and ......oh.... .......McClaren out. -

These are from two-three different interviews. After the first interview hit the press Skysports news also did a short interview with him which I saw and he more or less said exactly the same things. And now there appears to be a latest one from the Nuts Awards. I too like John think that Hughes will be angered that he attempted to put to bed the interview only for Benni to then come out and say the same things a couple of days later. -

I've said it before but I cannot see any of the Premiership big guns coming in for Benni. I'd be more worried about the likes of Sevilla and Zaragoza giving him another crack at Spanish football. -

I can sympathise Eddie. Before I got the first patch installed I got Madrid to the Champs league final only to see the majority of my South American's go off on International duty on the day of the game. Needless to say I lost the match. A glitch that's happened before as well and one that should never happen on any future game. -

I'd probably be more worried of a European club coming in for him. I just think like others that the top 4 will have bigger targets than Benni this close season. I know he didn't settle too well at Celta Vigo but I think that a few Spanish clubs will probably be sniffing around.
