It's the talk of 'we have money to sign good players' and the comments from Mowbray and Waggott along those lines that are putting a real downer on what has been a pretty good transfer window. Getting expectations up, and then nothing happening.
-
Bellamy was a complete t--t at Newcastle and Coventry, refusing to play and mouthing off about how rubbish the clubs were. He only seemed to perform when Hughes managed him at Wales and rovers.
-
A risk, at worst another Bradley Orr, but Mowbray could be the right manager to unlock the talent. Think Hughes and Bellamy.

Sounds like cricket to this day. Now there's a sport with a school tie and blazer mentality. -
Maybe Buckfast is not to Caulker's taste.

The only way I can see a D of F system working in British football is if the manager says "I want player X" to the D of F, who then goes and deals with the contracts, fees etc. and keeps the manager in the loop. Then, if the manager or the board balk at the cost, the D of F helps co-ordinate the scouting system to find a player Y the manager likes. So the manager has control of who comes in, but leaves the legal stuff to someone else. -
The only way Rodwell would make sense is a £1000-8000 p/w deal until the end of the season, with the possibility of a a better deal after that. Keep the carrot of a proper wage and the chance to rebuild a career, and hope Mowbray can motivate him.

Best comment this week at least.

He was always a plank, but a few still wanted him here at one point or another. FC Twente was his version of getting Burnley promoted, and other than that McClaren's record is poo. -
I figured it was an update of the old 80s wrestling with big daddy and co. The BBC did a documentary about when that was prime time viewing and it was actually interesting history. Shirley Crabtree was the brother of the guy who ran the whole thing and he was an out of work builder until he became big daddy.

You can sign one or two, but there needs to be quality control. Anyone still thinking McClaren is a decent manager? Surely no serious club will hire him if this continues at QPR. A brief stint in Singapore or Brunei perhaps? -
Living in Coventry, I'm glad he seems to have fitted in at Rovers so far, as he was great at the Ricoh, and it seemed obvious he needed to be given a chance. He was by far the most popular player here.
-
Well I'm assuming things as we have been scraping around signing the likes of Nathan delfonso last time we were in this division. We are still owned by venkys and can you trust them to provide a good budget or even a consistent train of thought?
-
Oh so it is my turn for the BRFCS point scoring game. Sorry but I can't be bothered to play. £8m is too much for someone so inexperienced when we are not backed by a super agent and a Chinese billionaire.
-
He looked much sharper, but Wilder is a ridiculous step up for the 3rd fight after a lay off. It'll be one last pay day before having to scrape around fighting Chisora or veteran British/European has been.
-
I would leave the deal as well since forest are being greedy and messing about. £8m is too much of a risk on our budget and there must be better value elsewhere. Can't suggest any names off hand.
-
FFS just get a decent striker without being robbed. Whoever is screwing up the deals had better stop it. I have no idea how good Brearton is, but if he is a star at the youth levels he is possibly a player who you might rue letting slip. We need some good players in but I think we will be disappointed or ripped off.
-
Have to say, he's not highly regarded in Coventry, but I think he did ok since he had to work with SISU, who run Coventry City like the Oystens. Even Jesus Christ himself would spend a week with them and say "eff this, I can't achieve !this miracle" as any player with any ability is sold on the cheap, and a new squad is formed every season.
-
Yes, Bordeaux who are managed by Poyet. I saw that on the BBC website.
-
Normally a rival club hiring Coyle would be funny, as Burnley fans would agree. Blackpool however have been such a dastardly, calculated car crash it invokes genuine wishes against this happening. I wonder if that Gordon guy still thinks the oystens are justified in taking all the money out the club and running it to the ground because they own it.
-
So this Brearton guy looks to be signing very soon, but it is not a done deal? And didn't he do well in one of the youth world cups? At best this could be like signing a very young Alan Shearer. At worst, a very young Per Petersen.

That's a lot of doughnuts. I wonder how much of that was paying off the crap like Best and co. from previous years?
