  1. Come on, he is frustrating at times, though he is improving and can often shoot, and find the right pass. And stats can be used to say Big Sam was the greatest England manager ever. I admit that part of the reason he is criticised so much as he seems to be a bit of a nob like Neymar as much as his performances.
  2. Sterling is inconsistent. When he's at his peak he is deadly but he has games where he shoots like a 4 year old and does not have any end product.
  3. You'd get a death stare if Roy heard you say that. There does not seem to be any up and coming, inspirational manager linked to the Republic team. Kenny seems to have worked wonders for his Irish team (according to Wikipedia) but might he need a bit of time managing at a higher level first? All the other names are just more of the same as O'Neill.
  4. I can see why Keane got out of there if McCarthy is returning. Roy will be back to ITV looking like he's about to stab anyone in the studio. I did look at the odds, and Kenny was odds on initially, but the other names on the list were not inspiring. Big Sam was the best on offer.
  5. I stopped at FM 11. That was enough detail for me. All the pre match media stuff had to be turned off, and I only wanted to talk to the papers to slag off Steve Kean, who I made Burnley manager with the ability of 1 in everything. Is that remake of Final Fantasy 7 out yet? If so, is it any good?
  6. It's been a bit like the rugby team in 1998 that got thrashed 76-0 by Australia. Players like De Glanville, Carling, Grayson, Leonard and so on were moved on and a very young and inexperienced team went to Oz. That team consisted of Wilkinson, Vickery, Grewcock, Rowntree, Lewsey and Dawson. They turned out OK in the end.
  7. It's good to see a senior, experienced player who has been at higher profile clubs happy to be here for the right reasons. It sounds like things are good and there are no nobheads like a Leon Best around.
  8. I think the point I was making was Chapman would be a waste of money as he is worse than Vince Grella for injuries.
  9. I think the players we have now are better as they actually play. Perhaps signing Palmer full time would be a better option, and/or Reed. Hope Chapman can stop getting injured and have a decent career, but he is too much of a risk to sign.
  10. As things stand, Mercer is talking out of his hat about Mowbray. After 'Coyley' and the previous bouts of madness and corruption since 2010 a manager getting promotion easily and then taking the team near the play offs is great. There have been odd substitutions and tactics at times, but show me a manager that is perfect in that regard. As I type now, I wonder what Mercer demands. Wolves style dominance is unrealistic.
  11. If he can't get in the worst A league team, who lost their last match of last season 8-2 then I think it's all over. CCM are usually fighting for the wooden spoon with Wellington Phoenix.
  12. According to the BBC it all went mental after the winner started to fight McGregor's team, which in turn led to a small riot. UFC is half way between WWE and boxing, so it will no doubt be spun into a rematch.
  13. What you highlighted there DE is why I think Mourinho has lost it at Man Utd, and how Ferguson was so good at complaining about the ref, or whatever when Keane had a mental and kicked someone.
  14. My dad has a signed Brian Clough autobiography. It was a good read.
  15. So AJ won after a pretty ordinary performance according to the BBC. Surely now after the Wilder/Fury fight they can arrange something with Wilder or Fury that does not lead to rigged decisions like the Alvarez/GGG fights or Sven Ottke vs. Robin Reid, and a more equal payout.
  16. I doubt it. I'm guessing Eddie Howe if they insist on an English manager. Maybe Jose if they want a foreigner (he'll be sacked/resign by then).
  17. Never seen a win against Coventry. I was even at the 5-0 hammering when we were champions.
  18. Yep I can confirm that. I worked with a Romanian, and a guy from the Congo called Anderson Lwaba, and asked why my Romanian friend was trying not to laugh when he found out his second name.
  19. Just flicking between BT Score and the Wasps game against Sale, the score went like a match under Coyle. I hope it was not that nervy and inept overall.
  20. Rowett seemed good at Brum, but since then it has been one disaster after another. There are so few decent British managers developing through the leagues that you could bet that Southgate's successor will be foreign. Or Boothroyd.
  21. The chorus seems relevant in a way.
  22. Preston hair Cutterer if you want to be accurate. Have Preston won a major trophy in the 20th Century, let alone the 21st?
  23. I thought I was the only person in the world who remembers this monstrosity. I think anyone reading this should watch the old episodes of Top of the Pops that BBC 4 are repeating. It's up to 1986 at the moment.
