  1. Id rather DG stsrts if possible. Then replaced on 60 mark. He is so important to how we play in my opinion. He is not an impact sub that is going to make too much happen with tired legs around him. Get him on from the start when the lads are fresh.
  2. Think it was 24 points from the 11 matches they have played together. Or something.
  3. We need someone similar to DG, a good target man and focal point of the team. Any of them around?
  4. Plenty of cover for Evans and Graham (15 million cough cough) and as for Lenihan and Downing, defenders are coming. In short, if we are tinkering because we have no choice, only one man to blame.
  5. They commentator on the red button was pretty awful. barely got a players name right but he did make me chuckle when he said the ball hit that Brentford defender right in the 'orchestra'.
  6. When Gallagher was decent for us, it was usually in a front two. We obviously do not play that way anymore with Dack almost being a midfielder just with license to support the front man. AA as well seems to be from the old school days of a front two. Perhaps together they could form a decent little and large act but football is not like that these days. Dack is our main man and we play to his strengths. i just hope that we have seen the last of Gallagher on the wings (wide forward/inverted winger/inside forward etc etc). He should be back up to DG and BB should be out on loan somewhere. We have enough players to cover those advanced roles without having to put a 6ft striker out there. It has not worked anyhow and is not going to help these guys confidence. AA has shown some value wide at least because of his pace - I just do not see what Gallagher really offers there.
  7. He tweeted after the game of his happiness at winning and the performance and said something along the lines of roll on Saturday. Would suggest to me that there is no injury, probably cramp.
  8. I dunno, he has a fantastic left peg, is a great crosser of the ball and is an intelligent footballer. He had a lot more pace about him when younger too and was more a flying winger (am I allowed to say that?). Certainly the best older signing we have made since probably Tugay and Salgado. Agree with the rest though. Peter Whittingham (now same age at 35) could not make an impact in a L1 promotion team at 33 years old. Is now still without a club since leaving us. Downing still doing it at a midtable Championship club.
  9. I don't think many would be confused. They occupy the wide forward positions. Certainly not traditional wingers in the sense of sending crosses into the box onto the heads of two centre forwards but they are there to provide the width along with the overlapping full backs.
  10. Inverted wingers, inside forwards...whatever you want to call them.
  11. Have to give credit to AA last night as well. He has received some criticism this season and for the most part, deservedly so. I thought he had a good game and was instrumental in the goal. First the tackle, then the run behind and cross field ball to Downing. Besides the goal, I thought he gave them problems throughout the game. Another night he would have bagged two goals if it were not for Raya. I also thought that he grafted defensively too and him and Nyambe worked well together down that right side for the most part. I do hope he is finally growing into this wing position because his pace can really trouble teams, simply by having that pace he prevents the oppo defence from pushing up too far. Him and Rothwell on the wings is probably the way to go when we are looking for fast counter attacks. Holtby is the one that is seemingly hard to fit in at the moment. obvious quality but doesnt offer the pace of either of those two on the wing and I have not been convinced with him in CM so far.
  12. Ever since that Derby incident - its almost like he has been frozen out. Out of Downing and Johnson, you would have thought the latter would have the bigger impact considering he is three years younger. Difference being that one is a model professional and you can see why he spent most of his career at the top level and the other is just one of the lads. Doubt you would catch Downing down the boozer during the season.
  13. Rothwell and Nyambe were best on pitch yesterday.
  14. Those saying Graham is done - i'm not so sure. Sure, he cannot play the full 90 or maybe 2 matches in a week but I just thought he was a bit rusty. As a focal point he is still at 35 much better than anything else that we have. This is rather damning when you think we have splashed out 15 million on strikers but for me, DG needs to have a run of games with SG or BB coming on to replace him for the last 25/20 - ease them in with 'heavy 'coaching' (lol) rather than ease him out. Also damning is that a 35-year old Downing showed Bell how to play LB despite it not being his preferred position. Put some dangerous balls into the box and never hid from the ball like Bell does. Think he showed stay there for the time being until we can (if we can believe TM) pick up a new LB in January.
  15. Credit definitely due - but as many have said, this is the sort of team selection that we want. Pretty much all players playing in their correct positions and Rothwell and Nyambe starting. I mean choose, Gallagher on the wing or Rothwell? Its a no brainer.
  16. Oh yes, i would have messed my pants if he somehow bent that into the corner.
  17. Commentator is blind. how many times did he call Graham, Dack? Then when it actually was Dack, he called him Lenihan.
