I'm not even a particular fan of Forshaw, I thought he should have bene released during the summer. just he is the closest (of our available players) in style to Tronstad, which just shows how poor the summers recruitment was (talking numbers, not the individual players), with no adequate backup for multiple positions (centre back, right wing back, sitting midfielder, striker), whilst having a glut of box to box midfielders and "10s", and 2 left backs, neither of who play -

Agree that both TGH & Montgomery are more box to box. Don't think either of them has the positional discipline to play the Tronstad role Think they may try Forshaw as Tronstads stand in, and then prey his legs manage 4 games in 2 weeks (which seems fancifull at best) -
Todd Cantwell - is he off?

Also, there could be an argument made that a leader/captain would fetch an extra few £100K or so -

It could be both of these things (Tronstad & formation change) in tandem, it could be one of those impacts more than the other I guess we will find that out in the next couple of weeks whilst we have the back 3, but no Tronstad -
Todd Cantwell - is he off?

It sounds like they will take the option above in bold https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/25651075.blackburn-rovers-need-right-balance-cantwell-injury/ Valerien Ismael says Todd Cantwell is “improving well” but insists that Rovers must manage his return from injury carefully. The skipper has not featured since early October after picking up a knee problem and will not be involved against QPR tonight. However, Cantwell could potentially be back in contention for Saturday’s trip to Wrexham if all goes to plan in the next few days. “At the minute it looks good but (QPR) won’t be possible,” Ismael told RoversTV. “We need to give him time. It is important when he comes back, he has to stay 100 per cent and this is a fine line to find. “We have a lot of games and don’t have a normal week to train, so we need to find the right balance to see him back. “But he is improving well. He has a couple of sessions behind him and the response was good.” -

Todd Cantwell - is he off?
KentExile replied to ruggles1995's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Cantwell currently on 44 league appearances for Rovers, with 9 league games to play before the January window opens. My guess is that he will feature in 5 of those 9 games, so that any potential wage rise/fee to Rangers is not triggered, and he will then be sold in early January. If this is the case, it will be interesting to see if they cherry pick certain games where they think he can make the difference, citing they are "managing his fitness" as reasons for sporadic absences, or if they just say he isn't fit yet for a couple more weeks and bring him back for the last 5 games in that 9 game run starting with Oxford on Dec 9th Before someone brings this up, I will note that it is also possible that I am entirely wide of the mark and he returns at the weekend and plays regularly until January (or even the end of the season), I suppose we shall see -

No surprise to most that since Rovers have found a bit of form in the past month, the one game that we didn't win was the one where Tronstad was suspended -

Stefan Mols Michael Mols used to play for Rangers in the 90s/early 2000s
-
Atcheson came on at half time this eve. Litherland not involved for U21s tonight at all, so maybe he is on 1st team bench tomorrow?
-
Atcheson on the bench, presumably to give Olson some minutes, as he has hardly played this season
-
Olson featuring for U21s v Tamworth this evening I wasn't aware he could do that, seeing as he is loaned out in League 2
-
Preview for U21s game at Tamworth in the National League Cup tonight Rovers claiming in their preview that it is a 7pm kick off, Tamworth & BBC both state its 7:45. If anyone is going then it may be worth checking score/update

Stevenage (6.) 4-1-4-1 0:0 Doncasters results have seriously declined since they were in the play off spots in September. O'Riordans performances have in the main been described by the local press in Doncaster as "solid" (which is a comedown from the first couple of months of the season when he was being described as "exceptional"), and when fit, he does play pretty much every minute for them, but I would debate just how solid his performances have been given results over the past 2 months -
The Aynsley Pears depreciation thread.
KentExile replied to Neal's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Which is why they wanted him gone in summer. They will no doubt try again in January, especially so if Pears does ok in Toths absence. & if they succeed, then they will start with the low ball offers for Toths contract, which will fail, & "Greedy Toth" will be sold in the summer & replaced with another foreign punt. Flip a coin, will we get another Toth or another Wahlstedt? -
Literally a cheaper, younger (and to give him some credit) less injury prone version of JRC. As well as a convenient excuse not to sign TGH at the end of the season. As long as Rovers are in the Championship, he will mainly sit on the bench until it all comes full circle and a cheaper, younger replacement comes through the academy in a few years. And despite this, they still haven't been able to tie him down to a new contract yet
-
How he was seen here (during the summer) is one thing, how (and how often) he was seen on the pitch by scouts from League 1 & 2 teams is another. Its not a secret that Rovers cut costs where possible, so the title of "squad player" doesn't mean much, what will matter to scouts /ata analysts etc is performance on the pitch, of which there was not a lot to go on at Championship level
-
Montgomery didn't really play a lot of games or minutes before the summer window opened (featured in 3 games totaling 136 minutes), even then he was sent off in one of those 3 games. Pratt by a necessity & lack of options, will probably play a fair bit by the time the next window opens. If hre performs well before January, then other clubs may start to pay more attention to our U21s Completely agree with the 2nd bold part

Indeed, there is a zero percent chance that Rovers would keep playing a player who is more susceptible to injury because of a lack of thought with their summer transfer business. Look at how well they managed Carter & Wharton, we have nothing to fear -

KentExile replied to Herbie6590's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Also possible, but that doesn't change that he has 1.5 years left on his contract & will not be offered fresh terms at the level that he will accept for him to sign an extension. He will leave either in January or summer, I still think Derby/Birmingham/Wrexham are the likely destinations
