  1. RE Pereira, he may be first choice now that James Justin is plying his trade at Leeds. Although Choudhury has been ok there. Pereira missed the first couple of games of the season, but did come off the bench in the 2 games  before the international break, so maybe given the couple of weeks before their next game, he will be back in the side then? Too early to say that he isn't their first choice if/when he is fully fit In terms of pedigree, I would have Pereira above Brittain, it depends if his body holds out and lets him get back to where he was
  2. The main instigator of that one was Capello, who apparently also told Bentley that he needed to leave Rovers to play for England "There were a few things to it. Fabio Capello had told me if I wanted to go to the World Cup, he wanted to see me at a club fighting for the Champions League," Warnock told Under The Cosh. Not to say that Nixon didnt also give him/them a nudge on the way out
  3. I responded to what you wrote, not what you meant. What else could I respond to? I also said guessing or making things up, which if you meant what you wrote, were the only 2 options No offense intended
  4. If I was to nit pick, I would also say Henriksen is the replacement for Weimann, & Gudjohnsen is the replacement for Leonard (at least until Gueye gets sold to Turkey this week), rather than the other way around Edit, also De Neve for Beck
  5. top 5 or 6. Pereira at Leicester (if he gets back to where he was), Young at Ipswich (if his legs haven't dropped off), Mads Roerslev at Southampton & van Ewijk at Coventry are probably the stand outs . But Brittain comes in the next lot after that for me
  6. Good summary, RE Pratts 1 month loan, Olson originally joined Altrincham on a 1 month loan last season, played himself into being a regular starter and saw out the season, winning their young player of the year award. I don't mind the short term (anything outside of the transfer window) loans as a way of finding a good fit, either for a longer term loan or another loan higher up the ladder. Short term loans to non league teams offer that flexibility. As they can be recalled and sent elsewhere at a moments notice if it is not working out or if they are obviously a level below where they should be. Either way, they still get some experience in an environment where results matter against grown men, which is a marked change of pace from academy football which focuses mainly on skill/technique
  7. https://www.englandfootball.com/articles/2025/Sep/06/england-mens-under-18s-morocco-match-report-20250609 Seems he was on the pitch for 25 minutes. He came on with the score at 1-1 to score the 2nd and 3rd goals for England in a 4-1 win
  8. I assume that they are trying to negotiate for someone who doesn't mind being controlled by an unseen hand. My money is on this guy Although he does have some stiff competition
  9. And doesn't stay fit for more than 12 minutes at a time
  10. It would seem he does have the on paper qualifications, in fact he may even be over-qualified based on qualifications alone. It's the practical experience (which may be more important than paper qualifications) that he lacks. I will assume he has a driving licence 😉 If we are going to be critical of Rovers, there are plenty of things to criticise them for without us resorting to either guessing or making things up
  11. Apparently picked up an injury on his first training session after joining them last year. Although he has since been training with their first team squad. Looks like he was injured again during pre season, although did return and play 45 mins last week
  12. Shall we open a book? I know where my money is going
  13. Yep, I am in two minds as to if that is a good or a bad thing - it stops everyone pulling in the same direction, which kills any hope of us ever progressing But - I am terrified what direction that may be. If it stops us being pulled further downwards, at a faster rate, then 2 warring factions may be a good thing
  14. He is "a 10", rather than an out and out centre forward Even so, has strike rate for last season was just under 1 in 3 (6 in 19, which also factors in his 6 minutes over 2 appearances for the first team) If we take out those 2 games for the first team, then he scored 6 goals across 17 appearances, during which he played an average of less than 62 minutes per game. not bad in my opinion especially for a 16 year old who isn't playing as a centre forward, and is also playing a few levels above his age group Summary 2024/25 19 Games 6 Goals Scored G M GS AST Premier League International Cup 2 114 0 0 Premier League 2 7 471 4 0 EFL Championship 2 6 0 0 U21 PL Cup 2 125 0 0 National League Cup 2 108 0 0 15 824 4 0 National Friendlies 1 90 0 0 Euro Quals U17 3 138 2 0 4 228 2 0 Total 19 1052 6 0
  15. He is not back at the same level, Macclesfield got promoted last season, and are one of the favourites to do so again. so Edmondson has gone from a 2 month loan at a top end tier 7 team to a half season loan at a top end tier 6 team For a comparison, Montgomery was at this level (tier 6) last season, but is 2 years Edmondson's senior (Montgomery turns 22 later this season, Edmondson turns 20 later this season), and Montgomery was originally at Marine who where one of the favourites for relegation, before getting his move to Chorley after Christmas RE if Rovers profits financially from sending players out on loan, there are generally some % of wages covered (although this is less the lower down the pyramid you get, especially as we get into part time clubs), and there may be loan fees involved for longer term loans, although this again is probably negligible below EFL level. Longer term loans like O'Riordan, may have other bonuses factored in, like Rovers getting a bonus if Doncaster are promoted etc. However, major profits with loaning out players tend to only happen if you are loaning out to Championship level or above, which seeing as that is where Rovers find themselves, that isn't going to happen, so the main focus of loans is player development, both for the benefit of Rovers, and the individual players themselves
  16. ok, how about this one then? https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/68301522 It is obviously newsworthy, any attempt to pretend it is not, is misguided It can also be spin, and probably is... member Rudy & Jordan playing up front together? But still newsworthy nonetheless
  17. Possible live stream of Iceland game, Gudjohnsen starts http://www.fawanews.sc/Iceland vs Azerbaijan.html
  18. To save a wage, its all about cost cutting Maybe he will be loaned to Turkey too? Loan one, get 2 free?
  19. Starts today for O'Riordan - won 3-1 - played the full game at right back Connor O'Riordan 8 - Moved across to fill in at right-back and did a more-than-comfortable job there, keeping it quiet all game and massively contributing to another derby win. Edmondson - drew 1-1 - played the full game Terrible audio, but Macclesfield manger "James Edmondson was outstanding" On the bench Olson - won 1-0 - remained on the bench throughout Barrett - lost 3-1 - remained on the bench throughout Pratt - won 3-1 - remained on the bench throughout Not involved in matchday squad O'Grady-Macken - won 1-0 Not a loan, but Harry Leonard started again for Peterborough against Huddersfield. He picked up another assist as his direct free kick went in off his own teammates arse before being taken off after picking up a knock George Pratt earlier today joined Chorley (6th tier) on loan for a month
  20. You are 2 subs light, it's been 5 from 9 for a few years now, so assuming Baradji doesn't make a Lazarusesc revival, its probably Axel & De Neve or Tyjon (assuming Gueye is gone by then, & Pears still in the cold)
  21. https://news.bet365.com/en-gb/article/how-to-watch-iceland-v-azerbaijan-live-stream-tv-channel-kick-off-time-and-head-to-head-stats/2025090318262596870 Dodgy stick maybe? 😉 Iceland v France is on amazon next week though, as is the Hungary game tomorrow https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/video/sports
  22. we did get Yuki for "a low 6 figure fee" if that makes you feel any better?
  23. Not transfer related, but Kargbo played 85 mins in Sierra Leone's 1-1 draw with Guinea Bissau yesterday Miller played the second half for Australia in a 1-0 win vs New Zealand - he came on at half time - looks like as a wing back Gudjohnsen may play for Iceland vs Azerbaijan tonight Toth may play for Hungary v Ireland tomorrow
  24. I think you are right and that is what will happen I just do not think that this is what should happen, whilst on paper we have the numbers, it looks light on quality PS - Young Keeper? Do you mean 18 year old Michalski? or 21 year old Goddard?
