As o2g mentioned, that's a ridiculous outlay just to prevent postponing one match every few years or even decades. None of that matters as the level of the river dictates the outfall. As I'm sure everyone knows water always sits level. This is a one off weather event where, if what people said earlier is correct, you have snow melting and large rainfall. There's not much that can be done about this, and since the wealthy corporations and governments are doing absolutely fuck all to tackle the issues that we all face, we're only going to see more of these sorts of events. In short, this probably isn't the club's fault on this one, but I'd put money on there being a long list of works that the ground staff are needing to undertake that aren't being done as we're operating on a do minimum model that will ultimately be more expensive than just doing the job properly.

Well luckily I am a civil engineer with 10 years of drainage behind me as well. All the stormwater drainage at Ewood will be discharged into the river. If the river is absolutely bulging like has been suggested then there's nowhere for the water to go. Couple this with fourteen years of total neglect and you've got standing water that isn't going away. Not the club's fault really here as this sounds like an extreme weather event, but as per usual it's a problem that will be made worse by the way things have been run for the last fourteen years.
