  1. You need to calm down. You’ll be having a thrombie before the end of the comp.
  2. Best we’ve played for a while. Bellingham makes the difference in midfield. How that one was a pen and the first one wasn’t - I don’t get that at all. I’d be pleased if all holding at corners and free kicks was penalised it’s a blight on the game.
  3. We’ve been bright this half. I was expecting Iran to be better but you can only play what’s in front of you.
  4. I can’t be bothered watching the home nation play at all. I’ll give it a miss until the England game tomorrow.
  5. Somebody tell me I’m dreaming - I think I just read the Southgate is on a £6 million per year contract ! Plus he’s in for a £3 million bonus if by some miracle we actually win the cup. I think the £3 million is safe.
  6. If I remember correctly his fitness was an issue previously.
  7. Reminds me of David Speedie in his determination to get a shot in.
  8. Wales weren’t playing against Treasure Island and Transylvania back in Mikes day.
  9. I was reading an article earlier “ Pick the best Welsh footballer “ - no Mike England in the list but room for Aaron Ramsey and Ryan Giggs. As I recall it Giggs missed as many games as he played.
  10. A very good pal of mine had it. He was a clever guy and extremely well read. It was sad to see him at the end. I hope something different gets me in the end.
  11. We had a benefactor that funded the team in the Premiership - Jack Walker. The dingles had a benefactor that funded the team in the Premiership - SKY and Murdoch in the old days. What’s the difference ? Is the money a different colour ? Does it buy more ?
  12. Well funded club wins a trophy. Shock horror ! It shouldn’t be allowed !
  13. What did it for me with Ronaldo was when Portugal played France in the European Cup Final. He limped off about 20 minutes without having down much. The rest of the team battled like Trojans through normal time and then extra time to win 1-0. When it comes the time to pick up the trophy who should step up but Ronaldo. I played a good while and captained teams. If that would have been me I would have said to whoever took over the arm band “ You’ve won this cup, go and pick it up “. In all honesty I couldn’t have done what Ronaldo did. Had he not won enough in his career by then ? Great player but a complete egotist.
  14. Plenty of teams have spent loads of money and won nothing.
  15. “ No one at the club was available for comment “ . I’m shocked.
  16. A pedant writes - The Rugby League Challenge Cup that Hornets won a century ago is the exact same trophy as the one that teams play for today. That doesn’t apply to the cups top level football teams play for today. The Premier League winners trophy is a stand alone trophy and only 7 teams have won it. Rovers being one.
  17. But, look in the record books. Leeds have never won the Premier League. To pretend otherwise is really re-writing history.
  18. We were hardly the first team to spend a bit of money. Most teams that have won things in the recent past have spent money. You have to go back to the old maximum wage days to find clubs that didn’t.
  19. No, it’s just the Premier League trophy. Of which there is a replica on display in the trophy cabinet at Ewood.
  20. Don’t be silly. Clubs have been buying players as long as organised football has existed. You’ve spent more money than us recently. Am I bitter ? Not at all, it’s the way of the football world. We had plenty of good players taken off us in the past. When Jack came along it was our turn.
  21. That’s the Premier League trophy. We’ve won it once and you haven’t won it at all. The old First Division trophy is a different kettle of fish. I would maintain they were both hard to win but the Premier League trophy was harder. Look at the teams that won the First Division back in the day Ipswich, Forest, Villa, Everton, Leeds etc. Nobody dominated the old First Division as Utd did in the early days of the Premier League.
  22. Do you really that Sam would have set us like that last Sunday ? Not a chance.
  23. You were what you were. Nobody had deliberately sabotaged your club. Mistakes had been made but not because people didn’t care., they just got things wrong. Were your owners/directors at Ewood that afternoon ? Where were our “ owners” last Sunday ? Probably watching the cricket back in India. That is why we’re like a cancer patient. My analogy is we are like the passengers on that plane were the pilot decided to end it all and flew into a mountain. We can’t get off and we can’t influence the flight path. There is honestly no comparison.
