  1. Just goes to show that even well run teams are only one or two bad decisions away from a disaster. In our case two I suppose. Selling out to the Chicken Chokers and firing Big Sam. In Burnley’s case selling out to the Yanks and maybe firing Dyche in the manner they did. IE with no real replacement. At least their guy did better than Kean. Putting the rivalry to one side what happened at Burnley is a disgrace from a financial point of view. I know they thought it was hilarious when the Chokers trashed one of the most well run clubs in the Prem. It’s their turn now. Maybe they’ll be more sympathetic in future ? Neither club should have been put in this predicament.
  2. What was good enough previously for the Premier League isn’t good enough now. The Prem moved on and Dyche didn’t. That doesn’t make him a bad manager, he’d be welcome at Ewood as far as I’m concerned.
  3. Maybe Dyche being “ a very good championship manager “ wasn’t quite enough for a team in the Premier League.
  4. I’ll get in first. Yes, I had four halves in the pub yesterday.
  5. I know I was one of them. Playing football was my outlet.
  6. Even the dogs in the street have heard about him unfortunately.
  7. It’s so they can say they interviewed Farke but Grayson was by far the outstanding candidate.
  8. I think “ did “ is the operative word. The last time they splashed out was years ago now.
  9. He’s lived up here before when he was at City. He was playing in that 7-0 thrashing we gave Forest years ago. My youngest son and myself were waiting out side the main entrance after the game so he could get autographs. It was peeing with rain and nearly all the Forest players just brushed past the kids. Stuart Pearce signed autographs for everybody in the rain. The other players were banging on the coach window for him to get on but he ignored them. Top bloke.
  10. We don’t fulfil any of those criteria. Apart from that keep speculating.
  11. What I think will come as a shock is playing 46 games. When you’re playing two games a week consistently, if you’re not in the full flush of youth. It’s pretty taxing.
  12. Spaniards like winners. When Nadal is doing well he’s all over the TV. If he loses it never gets a mention.
  13. Where we have an apartment in Spain the village has a Real Madrid social club and a Barcelona social club. They are packed out for games. The nearest two top teams are Granada and Malaga. You see the odd Granada shirt being worn but no Malaga kits.
  14. I used to think like that when British teams were in the main English with several Scots, Welsh and Irish amongst them. Now that’s not the case. Both Madrid and Liverpool are full of foreign players. I’m reminded of the comments of the head of NASA when the Russians launched their Sputnik satellite. The President said “ How have the Russians beaten us in the space race ? “ The guy from NASA said “ Well Mr President, their Germans are better than our Germans “.
  15. Teddy boys were before then. Mods and Rockers who knows. I remember getting off the bus at the Boulevard in about 1963 and from a style point of it was like going back in time about 2 years from where I lived near Manchester. Things soon caught up though with the influence of TV and the likes of “ Ready, Steady, Go.”
  16. I think they’ve followed our game plan of getting relegated from the Premier League at exactly the worst possible time.
  17. I think it changed in the mid 1960’s. I was going to derby games in the early 60’s and there wasn’t any trouble. By the mid 1960’s there was. Why it changed I don’t know.
  18. Just watched the highlights of todays games on MOTD. So you’re down to ten men and you score the equaliser, if you’re an idiot you take your shirt off and get booked. Then if you’re a complete moron you go in on the trickiest player on the pitch and dangle a leg out for him to go over and leave your team mates to battle on and lose the game with 9 men. I’d fine him his wages for that. What goes on in their heads ?
  19. One thing I’ll never forgive the Chokers for is taking the pleasure out of watching things like that DVD. Maybe it’s just me.
  20. Save that for next season.
