I no longer bother wether a “ goal “ is offside or not, at either end. They’ve made such a mess of the laws of the game that I just take whatever decision the officials give.

You can usually afford to have one in the team, especially when he’s playing in the opposing half most of the time. It’s when defenders start running into traffic with the ball you have problems.

You pass the ball forward and it gets cut out, you are still between the opposition and our goal. Run forward with the ball and you get robbed, you’re no longer between the opposition and the goal. Having said that players that can carry the ball from the half way line to the opposing penalty area are murder for defenders to deal with. As we saw from time to time with Rothwell.

Luton will be a good test this weekend. They beat us up last season. We’ve got a bit more steel in this team I hope.

What would happen if you came out with a statement like that in an everyday job ? You’d be looking for a another job at this moment.
