  1. Yes, you’re right. Episodes 1,2,3 of 5. That’ll teach me to question the ref’s decision. It was brilliant TV but I couldn’t watch it in the end, it was too upsetting for me.
  2. Maybe because no other team has ever chased down a score like that in the fourth innings to win at Test Match at Edgbaston in the history of cricket.
  3. Isn’t that the first “ stand alone “ programme that came out before the series ?
  4. It’s a while back now but I remember there being more than one reason to disallow the goal. If you were to ask me “ Have you ever been to a game that was bent ? “ That game would have to be considered.
  5. It makes a difference when the openers have done their job. Coming out to bat at 107 for 1 is a bit different to 20 for 2.
  6. The Tevez goal against West Ham he was stood on the goal line when the ball hit him. Well offside.
  7. It’s not like the Chicken Chokers to do things like that, is it ?
  8. What can I say ? That was just brilliant. Chasing down that score with just three wickets lost must rank as one of our best performances for a long time.
  9. I was just reading in my paper today an interview with Harry Pinner who was a great loose forward with St Helens. The interviewer asked him about when Saints signed Mal Meninga who was a really top Aussie centre, possibly No1 in the world at the time - “ There was animosity but not from me. I knew how good he was. As captain, I told the other players he’d make us money “. That’s the attitude you need in the camp.
  10. They were supposed to be playing at the opening night of a club in town. I was waiting outside about an hour before it opened and I saw their van drive by with three of them sat on the front bench seat. One of those “ Thames “ vans that all the groups used with a long bench seat. I can’t remember who they were now but apparently the other two couldn’t get to club for all the trouble. That was as close as we got to seeing them. A band called the “ St Louis Union “ who later had a biggish hit with a cover of The Beatles “ Girl “ were the support band, they had to play two sets ! Every time the Stones play in Rio the guy who was promoting the gig tries to take The Stones to court for non appearance. He lives out in Brazil now and he reckons he had to pay everybody back after the gig. He’s full of shit, I never got my 10/- back ( 50p to any youngsters reading this ).
  11. Do you know many fiends Gav ? I’m impressed.
  12. Didn’t they equalise at the death in one game at OT from a corner that should have been a goal kick to us ? A mate of mine had a saying - “ You’ve got to win at at Old Trafford to get a draw “.
  13. Big, big problems at United. I’m not sure there’s a manager out there that could sort the job out.
  14. We’ve got Markanday, Hedges and Dolan for that role. Pass.
  15. If they’re like the United fans I know every appointment is the right appointment until it goes tits up. Pogba was the “ best midfielder in the world “ , now he’s probably on his way he’s a waste of space.
  16. They know different though don’t they. They can see their cards and they can see our cards as well.
  17. If I remember rightly they also pipped us to the signing of Ben Heneghan a few years back. Cue much wailing and gnashing of teeth on here. He ended up going out on loan to Blackpool and hardly played a game for Sheffield Utd.
  18. You can see what’s coming. Shopping at Pound World then we sell Brererton on deadline day.
  19. I’ll say it again - “ You Can’t Put Friends In The Bank “.
  20. Yes he’s quite slender for a centre half. Get him on the Guinness and steak, that’ll fill him out.
  21. Led Zep did nothing for me either although I always thought Jimmy Page was a brilliant session guitarist. I’ve heard him playing on lots of records by other musicians and he always brings something to the record. Anybody see the two biographies on TV the other day on the Stones ? Mick and then Keith. Very interesting programmes. When I look at my generation on film and see what we’ve become politically it makes me really sad. What became of that Sixties spirit of hope and optimism ? I can see the Punks going the same way. All that radicalism, where did it go ? Maybe that’s for the other thread.
  22. Jesus, I’d forgotten my mum was playing in goal for us.
