  1. Good pay day again for Accy when the game is re-played.
  2. That's what being a good header of the ball entails. You've got to risk getting nutted from time to time, some players can't handle that, just like some don't like being on the end of an heavy tackle. Other guys thrive on that sort of stuff. People used to tell me MGP was a good header of the ball - until the Chelsea game at Old Trafford. Lots of very tall guys are poor headers of the ball, it's not unusual.
  3. The video's proved he headed it about three times. How many flick ons did he contribute for players to run on to down the middle ? How many times did he out muscle an opposing centre half under a high ball ? He got shunted out onto the wing for a reason. Same thing happened at Big Club apparently.
  4. There's an unwritten rule in the rugby league team I support. They have a booze up immediately after the last game of the season. The pub of choice is slap bang in the middle of town near the Town Hall. Any player who hasn't scored a try in the course of the season has to strip naked, run out of the pub, do a lap of the Town Hall and run back in again. I've seen it happen several times. Normally it's on a Sunday night in September and they wait while it's almost dark. Maybe we should adopt a similar rule ?
  5. Playing 6 at the back isn't going to lead to a glut of goal scoring chances very often. But we still leak goals most weeks. When did Evans last score a goal ? Anybody know ?
  6. I think that's pretty obvious seeing Big Ben never gets a chance there. I'm waiting for the headline when he does get a goal - ' Big Ben Strikes ' or better still ' Big Ben Strikes Three Times ' !
  7. That's just my opinion, if he signs we'll see. My memory of him is him being consistently out jumped by centre halves. I don't think I'm the only person who mentioned this last time he was with us.
  8. A fully fit Chapman is dynamite and I'd sign him tomorrow but I have concerns about the amount of muscle injuries he has.
  9. Yeah but who was he jumping against ? Nobody. Anybody can jump for a header unopposed. He's not so good jumping with defenders around him. Incidentally how did we get a 1-1 out of that game ? Bristol ran us ragged before we scored.
  10. I think he always have muscle problems until he learns how to use his body more wisely. I remember him coming on at Oldham as a sub. He'd only just come on when he got the ball out on the wing about 70 yards from goal. The Oldham full back was about 7 or 8 yards away and waiting for him. Chapman just booted the ball up the wing and set off in a foot race with the full back ! Well he isn't Gareth Bale and the full back was no slouch so Chapman got slide tackled into touch. I just though ,' You've no brains son, take it nearer to the full back, then have a foot race '.
  11. I'm not a big fan of Gallagher but he would be an improvement on Brereton. He's not Danny Graham Mk 2 any more than Brereton is. He hasn't got the physicality needed for that role and he's another 6 ft 2 in player that jumps about 5ft 10 in.
  12. Something happens to Graham and we're snookered. We need a player to vie with Graham for the strikers shirt now, if fact we needed one in summer but we signed Armstrong and Brereton instead. It's like Geoff Boycott used to say - ' The score looks ok now but what happens if we lose two quick wickets ? '
  13. When he played centrally for us he was normally pretty quiet and ineffectual.
  14. My initial thought was the goalkeeper may have got there first. I've played it back several times and I'm not convinced he would have got to the ball first now.
  15. Just catching up on todays paper. Ralph Hasenhuttl has said he will trim the squad before seeking signings in January. ' At first I think the squad is very big, so we have a lot of positions were we have too many players and maybe one or the other is leaving us and we bring something new. We might be able to get Reed after all if we box clever.
  16. I would have thought getting to play against 10 men for 70 minutes is a fair amount of luck irrespective of the sending off being justified or not.
  17. We can't play with wingers, too many weak links in the rest of the team.
  18. It's this bloody old lap top Stuart, it's got a mind of it's own. Hopefully Father Christmas will bring me a new one.
  19. By and large results have been better than performances but you could have said that about last season also.
  20. A few of us mentioned that when some of our fans were jumping up and down when we signed him in the summer. No names no pack drill.
  21. I would have taken a 1-1 all day long at 3-00 pm but that feels like a defeat.
  22. Chapman and Bauer have both been out most of the season injured. With Gladwin and Davenport permanently occupying our two treatment tables we haven't room for any more passengers.
  23. Wickham looked like being a good striker but unfortunately he's made of glass. He misses more games than he plays.
  24. I think he played in the same Spurs youth team as Noel Brotherston.
  25. Me too, that would be us over achieving in my opinion. Good close season and we could have a proper go next time.
