George Pratt Appreciation!!
Tyrone Shoelaces replied to NeilInBristol's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
He’s very composed with the ball at his feet and he can bring it out of defence without losing possession. -

Valérien Ismaël: Blackburn Rovers Head Coach
Tyrone Shoelaces replied to DE.'s topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Given the hand he’s been dealt I think he’s doing a good job. There’s no lack of effort from the players. That hasn’t always been the case over the past few years. -

Of the young Rovers centre halves I’ve seen he looked to have the most potential. -

I saw that happen in a FA cup tie - Rochdale v Oldham back in the early 1970’s. Rochdale went 2-0 late on up so the Oldham fans invaded the running track area trying to get the match abandoned. There was two mounted coppers on a little Kop area just to one side. They galloped the horses down the Kop, leapt over the barrier wall like it was the Grand National and galloped the full length of the pitch, turned around a galloped back ! People were diving head first back over the wall to get out of the way. How nobody wasn’t killed or seriously injured I’ll never know. -

I remember him playing against Everton at Ewood. He just picked up the ball in the old inside left position, came inside, dipped his shoulder to come inside the two would be tacklers and slotted the ball into the far corner. As cool as you like. He made it look really easy. Reminded me of the goals Bryan Douglas used to score regularly. -

I think modern football is a bit more complicated nowadays than when you and I last played. Whether that’s a good thing or not is another story. Nobody signs a player on Friday and then throws them into the game on Saturday these days. It used to happen regularly in the old days. I remember Don Martin signing in those circumstances and looking completely lost in his first game. -

Obviously Pratt has had two extra weeks to learn what was required to play the position in the first team. -

The two statements aren’t contradictory. Pratt may not have been ready for the Derby game for the reasons stated. So then it came down to one of Hedges, Pickering or Ribeiro for the left centre back role. Ismael may well have chosen Hedges on account of his height. Myself I would have chosen Pickering in that case and left Hedges out wide. -

It all depends who you mean by “ we “. I suspect Rovers won’t get anything. -

I predicted a while ago that heading the ball will be banned at some point in the future. -
Jim, that’s all they know. They can’t play any other way.

Sounds like they bowled like it today. The idea was to bat all day today and give them a rest. As it was they’re back bowling again in no time.

I’ve only seen the highlights so I can’t really comment on performances. I thought the header from Gudjohnsen was top notch, they are very easy to get wrong at that angle. The lad can finish, not much doubt about that. Gueye should have scored with his header, how can a big guy be so poor at heading the ball ? All in all a great win. I couldn’t see that coming at 8.00 pm with so many players being out for one reason or another. 100% effort from every player and that’s all I ever ask for from Rovers players. As I’ve said before the players are playing for the manager so we might has well get behind him. The set piece coach is earning his corn, that’s good to see. Top marks for Miller playing after flying all over the world last week. -

I’ve just realised that non of the usual main stream channels are even showing the highlights this evening. Then they wonder why most kids no longer have an interest in playing cricket.

Crawley out to one that he could have easily left alone. They need to realise that you don’t have to score off every ball. We needed to hang around for longer and see Starc off. At least our bowlers have got us right back into the game. Nice to see us fight fire with fire for once, that one from Wood that hit the grill was real shaker. No helmet and that would have been a broken jaw. They don’t like it up ‘em either.

He was a nasty bastard as well. All this shit about “ he’s not really a very good tackler “ or “ he just doesn’t know how to tackle “ - bollocks, he knew exactly what he was doing. -
Who ? Where’s he playing these days ?
