  1. I accidentally stumbled across the site that some other people have left for the other day. It makes " The Daily Mail " sound like " The Socialist Worker " . One or two on that have seriously fallen off the edge of the planet.
  2. He won't be going to a " top Premier League side " in a million years. Let's not get carried away.
  3. Not many full backs get to the bye line, they're usually lumping it in from about 25-30 yards out. You end up with the worst of both Worlds - players who aren't particularly good at attacking or defending like Williams. Modern football ! They've lost the plot, we'll end up with a goalkeeper, a centre half, a centre forward and eight midfield players. It's a bit like rugby league since the advent of Summer Rugby. You have a scrum half, a hooker and eleven centres.
  4. Well if Todd Kane is starting for them how good can they be ?
  5. Atkins was ok , great trier. Let's have it right though, he wasn't in anything like Batty's class. We regressed for all sorts of reasons but Batty wasn't one of them.
  6. Just as long as they don't see Dack as a replacement for Grealish.
  7. I know, how do I sleep at night ?
  8. City have just won their league in a canter. Do you think they sat down in May and said " Well we've walked this league, no need to sign anybody ? Not a chance. When we won it that summer we should have gone out a got a top class left winger to replace Jason Wilcox and a top class centre half to replace Ian Pearce. The next close season look at your two least effective players and replace them. That's how you keep on winning things. Not like we did, sitting back and saying " Aren't we great ".
  9. I was thinking West Brom, especially seeing they lost at home to Bolton on Saturday. As I said earlier we've done all we can to keep him. I can't complain there.
  10. Trying hard not to be negative but a bid for Dack wouldn't come as a shock. I think we've covered all the bases with him though hopefully. He's not ready for the Prem but one of our more wealthy rivals might be interested.
  11. I don't think Ipswich will struggle. Hurst knows what he's doing, he'll sort them out. Any away point is a good point, it's just a shame we couldn't get all three.
  12. What you need to understand is not everybody has the same opinion as you . I wasn't at Saturday's game but lots of people said Nyambe was our best player. Some people said he was pretty poor and a weak link. One or two said he was our worst player. Those three groups can't all be right. That's what happens in football . It's a game of opinions. It's a Rovers Message board not the North Korean Central Committee. If Jim or any one else wants a moan this is the place to come.
  13. I'd agree with you there. We've got him quite cheaply. If he's a roaring success we'll be able to ask a good fee for him and if he isn't we won't lose out financially.
  14. My reaction is one of caution. Players sometimes make systems work and sometimes the right system makes players look great. He could turn out to be the new David Bentley ( slightly different in style, I know ) or he could turn out to be the new Matt Derbyshire.
  15. That's what I suspect is behind this signing.
  16. Last time we played 4-2-4 was in the mid 1960's , we were awesome, a team chock full of goals. Ask anybody who saw that team.
  17. There in lies the problem. The dreaded 3-5-2 looms again. If that's not the case I don't see how we're going to get the best out of Armstrong.
  18. He's not a winger Jim, right or left. He's better running after the ball than with it. Normally his first natural movement is away from the ball not towards it. He's a striker pure and simple.
  19. Well it's our 1-4-2-3-1system on display.
  20. Yeah but we'd have still been hanging on at 3-1.
  21. Well it shows the manager is being backed, that's good. Potentially a very good signing. What concerns me is how we fit him into the team. If he's just going to replace Samuel out on the right I don't really see the point, he's not a winger. If we plan to play him up front along side Graham , that's very brave on our part. No many teams play that way today. You wouldn't expect him to play up front on his own, Craig Bellamy he isn't.
  22. We find ourselves hanging on too often in my book.
  23. You still need to be able to take advantage of the added time. Lots of times they did.
  24. I think at this level you need a bit more creativity if you're hoping to do well. I don't think you can afford two water carriers when we still consistently concede goals. If we were keeping clean sheets regularly I could see the rationale of two defensive midfield players, but we aren't.
