  1. If you’d have offered me 4th position after this run of games I’d have wept with gratitude. Next 9 games are all winnable, 6 will do.
  2. Despite being outmatched all over the field, both goals down to Kaminski for me.
  3. I like that line up. Pacey forwards and against might Fulham we needed more steel in centre mid than Rothwell gives us.
  4. I really don’t understand why the only two possible reasons for the three not having re-signed so far are ludicrously low offers and Mowbray. For Lenihan and Rothwell, this the the last chance, IN THEIR ENTIRE LIVES, to substantially boost their income - no one will be offering them more next time round when they are in their early 30s. IMO they would be borderline insane to not test the market, and we would be borderline insane to offer them so much that they don’t even look.
  5. Averaging around 30 games a year, and most of his absences have been not only through injury, but the same recurring injury, means he averages only 2/3 to 3/4 of games, so any long-term contract will potentially involve paying him to sit out a full year of it. Not quite such a compelling proposition.
  6. Amazing to see that the two matches between us and Argyle a couple of weeks apart were watched by over 45,000, in the 3rd division!
  7. Both Johnson and Dolan added a lot more today than Rothwell and Buckley have been doing: more bite in the middle. Another pitiful performance from Gallagher. Anyway, I’d have taken two points from the last two games and I wouldn’t put it past us to Nick a point at Fulham. With only 7 goals conceded in the last 15, if we can keep that run rate for the remaining games we will be in the playoffs.
  8. He didn’t pull any out in Feb: no goals, no assists, no trademark runs and no shots remotely on target that I can recall.
  9. I haven’t seen as thuggish a team since the 70s. Ref lost it when he ignored the Nyambe faceplant. One good shot all game, from Pickering, great save to be fair. Buckley needs a rest, Gallagher needs shooting and the only way Rothwell will get to the Premier League is if he pays to get in.
  10. I don’t think Gallagher even challenged for any balls in the air, Rothwell takes his now usual 20 min stupid booking when left in someone’s wake and has yet to do a productive run since the window closed. Good character shown to get over that dreadful start.
  11. No question that our season depends on Gallagher, Khadra, Buckley and Rothwell notching a few between them. Personally, I wouldn’t see three points from the next three games as a disaster, as long as it’s all draws.
  12. So QPR’s two games in hand yielded a massive one point. Dis ain’t over!
  13. Almost as dispiriting as seeing him find endless ways to not get on the receiving end of crosses.
  14. I thought being on the right of a three really suited Nyambe, but Wharton was standout defender for me. Hopefully we can now stop with the play Gally through the middle nonsense; he had plenty of opportunities there last night and was embarrassingly awful for all of them - John O’Mara awful.
  15. Really impressed with the back 3, they have been immense. JRC and SG are just embarrassing, I think they have lost possession every single time. West Brom creating nothing though, could be a sneaky 0-1.
  16. So much for five unforced changes, Rothwell binned and personal issues decimating the first team.
  17. Interesting to hear Kaminski give a positive call-out to the goalkeeping coach as one of the reasons he signed. Another myth debunked.
  18. I agree. There’s a lot more to centre mid than being a schoolyard dribbler. Plus, he does very little in the way of anticipating and moving to cover opponents passing options. Relative to Travis, he’s very immobile when we don’t have the ball.
  19. So much to get frustrated about last night. Totally undisciplined at the back, though I suspect we should give some credit to Forest’s manager for that: suck Lenihan forward then you are only facing two kids. Lenihan’s two yellows were totally unnecessary yet he didn’t take the yellow he should’ve done when miles out of position for their first. Buckleys two missed sitters were both side footers leaning back - maybe he can do those in training but most pros can’t and just focus on power on target. Do the basics before the Brazil stuff. I don’t know what Rothwell thinks he’s doing keep taking it off the centre backs and making easy sideways passes to the wingbacks - that’s last year’s mode plus all three of our CBS can hit really good forward passes. Mind, when he gets forward he all too often makes a bad choice because he’s a head down player in the final third. Brereton has had so few touches this year, Khadra hot and cold, Gallagher a willing workhorse but with more donkey than thoroughbred genes, all put to shame by Dolan’s directness and willingness to shoot. And the manager’s choices beggared belief.
  20. Buckley, Rothwell and Travis all showing how to not score, we can’t keep carrying a middle three who offer so little goal threat.
  21. Given we are second largely thanks to a player who took 2.5 years to come good, it seems perfectly reasonable to judge news players after 2.5 weeks who were thrown into a Plan B that doesn’t exist anyway. I don’t rate Gallagher either, but even he should make more of Giles’s crosses than the assorted midgets at Swansea. 2-0 tonight, Diaz and Giles.
  22. Would that be the Gallagher who most were crying for to be on the end of Giles’s crosses, and the new signings who have been pitched into covering not their normal positions because of an injury crisis, and have only been here a couple of weeks?
  23. Yes, but they are all crap at shooting. Rothwell hits one like vs Cardiff once a year, Bucko was lucky to get his one and Travis never pulls the trigger.
