  1. I think that's the lazy assumption because we spent 26 years out of the top flight between 66 & 92.
  2. Cunningham looked good in his 10 games or so don't get me wrong. After an injury like that though, not sure I would be rushing out to get him signed up again at the moment.
  3. This is beyond naïve. By the time that comes, our better players (Travis, Armstrong, Dack etc) will all be long gone and we'll be starting another "slow build".
  4. If venkys had only turned up last summer, and that last summer was an unusual odd one out in our recruitment policy (making a mess of the GK situation plus no permanent defenders) I think everyone would agree with those comments. We're nearly 10 years into there ownership now though, we know which way this is going.
  5. Correct. Kean wanted Simon Cox instead.
  6. We did replace those two players. It's just the replacements were Danny Guthrie & Christian Walton. ?
  7. We'll probably finish 10th, with 65 points to keep Mowbray plodding on. Play offs for 2025 is looking good.
  8. Wharton actually played against Burton in the championship under Coyle. Dont think he's made a league appearance since though.
  9. I think we have one already on the books who could sit deep and try and dictate the play, Lewis Holtby. Problem is Mowbray plays him everywhere but that role.
  10. Because someone on here posted them I guess. Anyway, I think the notion that everything will be ok if we sign a couple of decent defenders is naive. I sometimes think the way Mowbray sets up his teams we could have the best defenders in the world playing and it wouldn't make much difference, we're so disjointed most of the time.
  11. European super league has been talked about for over 20 years now. It'll never, ever happen.
  12. We release the training range before the kits every year.
  13. It'll be the latter
  14. 1 - Anywhere there is a space 2 - 4, although Surprisingly Bennett has 9 assists in all competitions since promotion back to the championship, only bettered by Bradley Dack (13) & Adam Armstrong (12) 3 - 0 4 - 0
  15. After seeing Lowe and Evans stroll around our midfield for what seemed like decades, this guy was a breath of fresh air in our league one campaign, finally someone flying into tackles and showing a bit of urgency in midfield. Special mention for that winner at Fleetwood and that performance in goal at the hawthorns. He isn't quite upto it at this level, and should have gone 12 months ago in my opinion to play some football, but his contribution to the league one promotion shouldn't be overlooked.
  16. Whiteman won't happen. On Downing, like you say up until lockdown he was definitely worth another deal, looks to have been off the pace a bit since then though. It can easily happen to players of that age where there legs just seem to go overnight.
  17. That would be more ludicrous than the original HC.
  18. Think you have to take the opposition into account. Even Brereton scored against them! But yes, I'd certainly like to see more of him.
  19. If he goes 3 at the back you just know who is taking the right wing back role...
  20. I certainly agree that they don't make logical appointments. At the time when he joined I couldn't really separate Coyle from Mowbray, both seemed like desperate yesterdays men that were only hired because they had managed to get somebody promoted to the premier league in the past decade, they had also both made pig's ears of several of there previous jobs. Mowbray despite what people think of him now, has probably done better than anyone here expected when we joined, pure luck that he was a decent fit at the time. Of course now I wouldn't put Mowbray in Coyles bracket at all, but I still think that his time here has probably should come to an end.
  21. There was nothing logical about the Mowbray appointment at all, he had just gone 10 games without a win in the third division not long previously! As luck had it, he was a good fit for a while.
  22. This looks like a copy and paste job from last summer. You said then that he wasn't impressed with Tony & Steve and was signing for Hull because he liked Adkins. What happened?!
  23. Yeah, this is pretty much where I'm at with it all.
  24. Saw Sept 12th being mentioned a while ago.
  25. Effective football. That's all I want to see from Rovers teams, effective football that gets results, not passing it sideways and backwards for 20 minutes without creating anything.
