  1. Downing will play in the middle to "recycle possession" as he's a very talented left footed footballer.
  2. All this talk of Whittingham, did he ever end up getting a club after we released him?!
  3. It's not inspiring no, but it's about what I expected. Infact if all them happened then its probably better than i expected to be honest. Some of the names I've seen here have been absolute fantasy signings. From what we have seen of Mowbray so far, we all know he won't strengthen his first 11 with better players than we already have, its all about having a squad where everybody is about as good as everyone else. We had a stand out centre midfielder on loan last year but he didn't seem to like it for some reason and never played him there, I think he started 3 games all season in centre midfield and we won all 3, Bolton away, Wigan home and Derby home. I like Mowbray, but I don't half find his recruitment policy and general team selections baffling.
  4. That, and the draw like many in recent years is just so dull. Had we got Salford away I'm sure there would be a pretty big interest.
  5. Take out Nyambe & O'Neill for Bennett & Evans and that might not be far off. Bottom 6 side for me that, no goals in the side and Hanley isn't suddenly going to transform the worst away defence in the entire FL. Long old season ahead.
  6. Downing said in his interview that he likes the way we play. Where has this myth that Mowbrays sides play "good football" from?
  7. We haven't, won our opening game of the season since Venkys rocked up, and that is no coincidence.
  8. 20 minute impact sub when we need a goal.
  9. Barring the biggest injury crises Ewood has ever seen, there is no chance Chapman starts on the opening day of the season.
  10. If Downing signs I don't think he will play out wide, Mowbray will put him in centre midfield to add some "guile" to the side. Probably alongside Evans. ?
  11. Charlton at home to kick things off. Birmingham Home Boxing Day. Nottingham Forest away New Years day. Cardiff away & WBA home over Easter. Luton away on the final day. https://www.rovers.co.uk/matches/fixtures/
  12. More chance of It being Colin Cooper than Jake Cooper.
  13. I honestly think it's Lenihan/Williams to start the season, any new centre half will start the season on the bench.
  14. Hope not. He's played 18 games in the last 6 years.
  15. Whatever happens, whether anyone signs or not, there is no way that Evans & Bennett don't start the first game of next season.
  16. Travis, Evan's & Davenport as the 3 in midfield, Dack and Rothwell as wide forwards behind DG. Bennett at right back. He'll be back to 4231 and aiming it to DG's head in no time.
  17. Let's not rewrite history. He left to go to a club in the same league as us, played 10 times all season, before leaving to join another championship club a year later. He also only played 10 games last season. Avoid.
  18. Even more unlikely, seems to be one of those happy to be on a big wedge to sit on a bench to me.
  19. Cant see Hanley wanting to come back here, it would be like admitting defeat that he couldn't cut it anywhere else
  20. Unfortunately. I think we'll see that Davenport is Reed's replacement, and Chapman is Conway's replacement.
  21. Fee, wages, and the fact that if they joined they would be instant, first team players. Tony has only signed two players on permanent deals in two and a half years that have become first team regulars, and one of those is Amari Bell. These kind of deals just wont happen, I'm not saying we wont sign any good players this summer, but the ones we do sign I can guarantee will be out of left field and probably not be first team ready.
  22. Byram & Hugill, those kind of signings are just not happening.
  23. Might aswell be the same person, they are both destined to manage all championship clubs at some point.
  24. You are certainly not the only one 47er, It was quite a common myth at the time that he wasn't wearing a helmet. Think it was a few years later that it came out that he was wearing one.
