Obviously we are down the bottom end, but hmm not sure about some of those salaries. Sheff Wed straight out of the third division with the same wage bill as parachute club Watford, as one example? -

Because Ewood is pro Venky’s, like it was pro Teflon, it ain’t pro JDT. -
I was listening to Radio 5 the other day and I can’t remember the pundit but he was pretty much saying that a lot of managers know it’s nonsense but they are petrified of being labelled a dinosaur and not getting another job. The game has collectively lost the plot on the back of Pep playing a certain way, but with world class players.

I think they would turn, the crowd always turns after horrendous runs, unless your Teflon Tony, of course. I don’t think they should, by the way, after a good season last time and a decent one this term until a month ago, but he’s never been particularly popular at Ewood, so you go say 2-0 down to Rotherham and he’ll cop it big time. -

I love the bloke, I think he’ll turn it round as he’s a bloody good manager in my opinion. But eventually everyone runs out of road, and if we didn’t win a single game after November and collapsed to that extent of course he should go. -
Feel few to do what you want, but you are just going to give up on one of the greatest thrills in life, getting your own children following in your footsteps? You’ll just let them be another one of millions with a City shirt on? Something they have zero connection to? Instead of being part of something shared with you? These owners will leave, we will rebuild this club, why not be part of it with your own family?

The club doesn’t bother with that (or the actual league table), dinosaur thinking… you should see the ‘academy grads minutes on pitch = value added’ table 🤩 -

Complicated business this football lark, ain’t it? Take it Luton were well clued up on ‘Goodhart’s law’ and R rating? Or maybe they thought they’d been knocking on the door so their ‘target’ was to improve the side and go one better the year after? -

No, why on earth would I compare those two as career managers. I’m responding to both Matt and rigger that state all managers should be dismissed on the spot for losing five games. Stupid thing to do before looking at the big picture, I.e job done overall, league position, injuries, opposition, games coming up etc etc. -

Shame we had to sack that Kenny bloke in April 1992, wasn’t it. -

Well obviously, so any manager losing five is sacked on the spot then for you? -

Sometimes, but this is about every manager that loses five games. -

Any manager who loses five in a row should be immediately sacked? Seems an extremely knee jerk way to look at things? No context at all about league position, previous results, opposition, injuries etc? -
The R still seems pretty strong with white Blackburn kids. Of course I have to differentiate because the Asian Blackburn accent is a different accent, similar-ish, but different. As the Asian community of Blackburn continues to grow the R will ultimately keep weakening. But it’s still strong in Darwen and Hyndburn.

’Improving performance’ at this odd club could well mean improved ‘metrics’ like minutes on the pitch for academy grads, selling said players on for a profit etc. Not, you know, the traditional definition of ‘improved performance’, I.e winning games of football and finishing in a higher position in that thing called a ‘league table’. -

Obviously he doesn’t believe it, how could he with this budget, but at least he’s taking in standard football platitudes of actually, you know, trying to achieve something, even if he’s only paying lip service to it, the other fella can’t even be arsed to pretend. Does make me laugh (cry) that the two ‘senior’ execs at the club can’t even get on the same page on what we even exist for. -

One thing about this very strange football club that helps managers is that they are given a contract and that’s that. So these poor runs have a chance to be turned round. He may well have been potted this morning at a Birmingham or a Watford or a Millwall etc. What doesn’t help managers here is everything else. -

This summer just summed up the nonsense that has been this past 13 (THIRTEEN) years. TM finally puts together a decent season, but we do nothing in January, we fall away. JDT comes in improves it again, we do nothing in January, we fall away - but still have our best season since being down here. Obviously we aren’t a million miles away, we missed out on goal difference! So what is the response of the CEO in his big set piece interview on the eve of KO? Was it ‘we are ambitious for the season, 8th, then 7th, we are now looking for top 6, we are excited for what this team can achieve etc etc ’. Err no, it was ‘no pressure for results, we are just looking to stay in the league and develop players… got a new bus though’ A ridiculous regime. -

We haven’t sold less than that under Ke*n or Coyle or after they hiked the prices after Covid. They won’t next summer either. -

Totally agree with you, however that is only scratching at the surface. Selling a few more shirts, season tickets or sponsorships won’t alter the fact that this club actively does not want to pursue promotion. -

Swag reckons the project is to ‘develop players’ and there’s ‘no pressure to get results. GB reckons the project it’s to become an ‘established Premier League club’… Square that circle.
