11 major trophies won in the town of Blackburn… not bad considering ‘it’s not a football town’.
-
Often see that for big games. Loads of folk obviously just buy a ticket anywhere in the stand and head straight for N01
-
Of course the figure is right. The Riverside was fuller for Watford, the JW and Blackburn End were just as busy though. Which makes sense as there were about 1k more home fans in the ground that day over last night. Got to say I don’t remember any conspiracy theories on here post that game though. 😅
-
Obviously isn’t nonsense. Both end blocks of the lower tier were pretty much empty, the middle corporate block (Blackburn End side) was at least half empty. The far corners weren’t totally full. The crowd has to be reported to the police and the SAG. We were 8,000 short of capacity, simple as that.
-
Of course it does, we were 8,000 short of capacity, not 10k which the JW holds. As I said before - 3,000 in the BEnd Upper, 100 or so in the lower, 500 in the Darwen End, c2,000 in the JW, c2000 or so in the Riverside. Add corporate, disabled etc to that and seems fair enough to me. No conspiracy here.
-
Yeah the fact we had 27,600 for Oxford when there were certainly 2,000 empty seats in the Darwen End and a fair few in the BEnd Upper says there’s no funny business going on. Think we are so used to rattling around at Ewood we over-estimate the gate for such games as the ground ‘looks and feels’ much fuller than usual.
-
Forest about 31,367. From memory the highest crowd the ‘new’ Ewood has ever had was something like 30,800 against Liverpool in the 90s - a complete sell out. So that gives you 8,000 empty seats on Tuesday. 3,000 in the BEnd Upper, 100 or so in the lower, 500 in the Darwen End, c2,000 in the JW, c2000 or so in the Riverside. Add corporate, disabled etc to that and seems fair enough to me.

They have to detour to Nottingham first as it’s been double booked by some Liverpool fans. -

He often looks fecked one way or another after a game and you’re thinking ‘that’s him out the next game’… and then he plays - even four hours after his Missus has a kid. -

I’m sure that’s the plan, but there’s no question that game will have taken it out of them. So 12 hours on a bus ain’t going to help. -
The Aynsley Pears appreciation thread.

Odd people at the ground will always have it in for certain players. My uncle used to go mad about MGP every week! First world problems ay! But generally Pears has been supported just like all players are at Ewood. Very supportive crowd. -
Easy enough, make a game in the run in a tenner - I.e Ipswich on Good Friday. Though doubt they will as they’ll be sniffing a decent following from them, but there are others, perhaps Coventry at the end of April, but they probably won’t as they’ve already put on sale the 1/5 ST starting with the Plymouth game. The support is there, it’s long dormant, but only success on the pitch or enticing prices or both will get folk back. Going from October to March with one Saturday home win and £400-£500 STs (£25-£35 walk up) certainly won’t do the trick.

Boro?! They have 44 points already. 13 games to get six points (if it even gets to 50 to survive). Don’t think they need to be planning their trip to Lincoln just yet. -

Be interesting to know how he is going to approach training over the next week. After a humongous effort over 120 minutes straight into two massive games on Saturday/Tuesday with a horrendous coach trip to Swansea thrown in. Minimal exertion and work on the tactical side you’d think… flying to south Wales too would help, but considering they won’t even pay the M6 Toll far more chance of 🐖 flying. -

Not sure half the folk anonymously coming out with all kinds of tripe on here would repeat it in public. -

This place? Of course, everyone gets pelters. But I can’t recall the actual crowd getting on his back, which is all that matters.. -

It isn’t. We struggle to compete because of our ‘small gates’ and we are a ‘small club these days’… neither of those things have anything to do with the owners, of course. -

To be fair Branthwaite was 18 when he was here, very young for a centre half to be chucked into a Championship first team, but he physically looked the part if nothing else, every chance he was going to develop. -

I suppose these legal shenanigans gives us a glimmer that we may, at some point, at an unspecified time in the future be rid of them. Without it I think their ownership would outlive me. -

Can’t agree. If Pears had not got injured my view is the December onwards collapse would not have been as severe. Defences operate on confidence and ours fell to pieces from Sheff Wed onwards and a major part of that was the bloke behind them’s game ending up in tatters, due to his hesitancy, inability to, you know, catch the ball and all manner of howlers. And I say that as someone who thinks Pears is bang average at best, but that fella was another level. -
Talking to a lad yesterday who knows his mum and dad, he was saying they’ve moved down there with him as he’s a real home bird who didn’t want to go…
