  1. But you are putting those losses solely on the first team manager, they would pretty much the same whoever was in situ in this league, so if your argument is ‘he should’ve got us up to minimise those losses, but he’s crap, so didn’t’, fair enough, but he obviously hasn’t personally ‘burned £100 million’, as he isn’t at fault for the horrendous way they’ve run the club, or for keeping a man you think is so inept and snide on for five years. He’s had mid table budgets for fees and wages and has finished mid table, does that mean he’s a good manager then? Not particularly, as the likes of Luton can show you can make a mockery of your budget in such a competitive league, but he obviously hasn’t ‘burned through £100 million’. VENKY’S have been burning their own cash for some unknown reason for 12 years now…
  2. Every chance we finish 10th, so just another season of oscillating in the second tier - 15th, 11th, 15th, 10th (?) under TM, looking at the squad if he was still here next season, that comfortable home of 15th looked as likely as anything else. So ‘steady’, yes, those final league positions are the epitome of it, but ‘steady progress’, no. (But if thats how you see it, Patrick, then fair enough, you shouldn’t be told to feck off somewhere else just because you doesn’t subscribe to brfcs groupthink.)
  3. To be fair, McTominay is an honorary one with that Lancashire accent of his…
  4. It is absolutely pivotal for the future of the club that the pretty much half of Blackburn that has thus far taken very little interest in BRFC, for a plethora of reasons going back decades, does so going forward. In a way we are pushing against an open door as there is big interest in football within the community, just not, as yet, big interest in the Rovers. More and more of our ST base no longer lives in the town and it is always a challenge to keep a scattered fanbase in the tent, the longer distance fan starts by not making a mid week, that turns into not making an odd weekend game, turns into no ST - we need a solid core of Blues within the town. The community engagement the club has undertaken this past 12 months has certainly had a big impact in social and traditional media, I imagine the social media team are cockahoop with the amount of ‘impressions’, Yasir is certainly earning his corn . Though as J*B says, the proof of the pudding will be in a substantial increase of the Asian community through the gates in the short and medium term. I am certainly seeing more Asian young lads in the Blackburn End, families in the JWL than say, five years ago, but it is an improvement from a very low base. Because as worthy (and essential) as the engagement is, it can’t exist merely so Rovers can help to bring the disparte communities of the town together or for online acclaim, as the social media bandwagon soon moves on to something else. A club’s number one aim is to win matches, as that is what ultimately improves football clubs, and larger Ewood crowds containing Blackburners from every single neighbourhood and walk of life will be a pivotal part of that.
  5. Apropos of nothing, assuming Nyambe shortly goes with all the loanees, Ayala will be the only outfield non British & Irish born player on the books (and he’s spent his career in England). That must be a pretty rare occurrence in the top two divisions in the modern game?
  6. Ha, says the fella with half the board on ignore!
  7. Mark Venus. Today’s LT: Mowbray added: “Mark is under contract, he will have a period of time that he has to work for, I would assume. “I can’t talk for Mark. I’ve been with Mark a long time and I’ve left clubs and Mark has stayed on and done a really good job. “At Coventry, Mark was almost running the club, not as a football manager but behind the scenes. “Let’s wait and see what happens.”
  8. So one person saying it’s BBD getting injured’s fault, now it’s the sub keeper having a stinker in a cup tie… Though maybe it was because we weren’t good enough over 46 games? Indeed, maybe we were nowhere near good enough outside a Mid November to mid January purple patch…
  9. Come on be fair, he was proved right in the end… though he did need TM himself to publicly say in a press conference he was going first. Needs a Patreon account like Nicko. 😁
  10. Which is fair enough, that’s football. But the club briefly looked like it had got its act together… and we know what happened next.
  11. … nicely sums up what 12 years of this regime has done to Blackburn Rovers.
  12. Then more fool him if on the verge of one of the biggest achievements of his career, he preferred to sign development players instead of experience with just months of his contract left… though he is conceited enough to have probably thought a new deal was in the bag.
  13. And there’s nearly a week to Birmingham, so not sure why anybody would need pulling out of today’s game…
  14. We sold our lowest number of STs for over 30 years… so of course it’s a no.
  15. End of the day, a proper manager given a proper budget, ergo giving yourself the best chance of winning football matches is the only thing that really matters if you want to improve the whole operation. As worthy as all the other stuff off the pitch is, without that pivotal bit, it’s merely tinkering at the edges…
  16. On here? Definitely, as the actual game has hardly been discussed, because, well, what’s the point? And at the ground, there would’ve been far more booing, ‘sort it out’ (you know, as hostile as Ewood gets these days) if the man had just signed a new deal, but again nobody bothered, because, well, what was the point?
  17. To be fair, I think the imminent departure of yon mon has taken the sting out of the result, bit of a line in the sand for everybody, now if he had just signed a new deal, it would’ve been very different…
  18. Just shows how long we have been in this stupor as a fanbase, if a smattering of half hearted booing after yet another piss poor performance and an odd ‘sort it out’ chant by a hundred or so in NO1 classes as ‘vicious abuse’.
  19. Christ knows who’s he’s been speaking too (taking an odd post from here and making it fit the whole fanbase, most likely) The present day fan at Ewood now has very low expectations… which is why the surprise (though alas very short) charge up the table was met with such unbridled and unexpected joy…
  20. Probably, I pay little attention to the PL these days… which looks set to continue.
  21. Best tell Luton they won’t be allowed in the PL, I mean what right do they have? Have they seen their low crowds and income?
  22. Away from social media, what ‘abuse’ has he had? He’s been treated very fairly home and away, never a single call for his head, very little dissent generally apart from standard grumbles and ‘sort it out’, which is par for the course, it isn’t a night at the theatre - and that certainly wouldn’t have been the case at all these other less ‘entitled’ clubs, as you know what, we are a pretty fair bunch at Ewood…
