End of the day international football has been based on a four year cycle of the World Cup and Euros for decades. UEFA can feel free to invent a convoluted completion and say it’s ‘competitive’ all they want, but if players and fans don’t buy it then they will be treated like glorified friendlies, especially when you try and cram in a load of fixtures when said players and fans have switched off in the middle of June.

Me neither. Why would it?

So Preston North End have (probably) sold at least double the STs of Blackburn Rovers, imagine ever saying that. And a certain poster actually has the gall to call us all ‘clueless’ with a straight face, as the evidence of the enormous hole the club is in commercially is there for all to see…

Difference being, last year folk weren’t then charged an extra premium post mid June so sales would’ve carried on steadily to KO. This year I imagine they will now dry up to a trickle.

They obviously brainstormed (ha!) that slogan months ago and are going to do it to death on social media instead of any other marketing or, you know, competitive pricing.

Indeed. It makes absolutely no sense, surely every business wants to grow, so why on Earth would a company with a declining customer base, a base that is now at its lowest for decades, look to financially penalise all potential new or returning customers? Business plan of the mad house.

Transfer Window - COMPLETE. Where’s Gregg?

We’ve only signed one permanent centre half in four years, Only paid a fee for one In *EIGHT* years! Some set up this and the new fella comes in spouting the old ‘the owners want sustainable Premier League football’ line. Fantasy land stuff. -
It’s just the totally self defeating nature of an arbitrary seat and price deadline in the middle of the month I can’t get my head around. You are bouncing people unnecessarily into making a decision today when the odds are not stacked in the club’s favour. Delay it until the end of June, a decent manager lands next week (I know, I know!) and you’ll certainly get some waverers signing up. Those that refuse to be bounced today, probably now won’t sign up at all as they’ll refuse to pay a premium on the same seat that is already ridiculously priced. The destruction of the ST base since 2012 couldn’t have been orchestrated better by a Dingle sleeper cell as CEO, never mind a collection of folk paid handsomely to supposedly work in the *best* interests of the club.

Don’t think a Rovers player has lived in Blackburn since Alan Irvine lived near me at Pleckgate in about 1990… -
All anecdotal, of course, but I’m certainly getting the same feeling I had in the summers of 2012 (Kean inexplicably kept on after relegation) and 2016 (Coyle appointed) that sales have fallen off a cliff…

Yeah but it’s not the Originals vs *checks notes* the Superchargers though, is it?

So that would be just the two first team centre halves left (and one of those was on loan in the third division last season). Big rebuild (sorry I mean big potential loanee list to work through) for the DoF, or whoever the hell makes decisions down there. Seven weeks to go… -

Oh I see, you just have an irrational dislike of them, partly due to an incident 25 years ago, sorry I thought you were trying to say they were actually similar set up clubs, which, of course, would be a daft thing to say. -

At 27/28 you still have a load of years left as a centre half. A four year deal taking them to 31/32 is not exactly risky. Another one after that taking them to 35/36 is obviously a different issue. A club built on loans and young lads will eventually lead only in one direction…
