  1. I’m sure he would, as he would’ve on loan this season. But as you say he’s enjoyed his sabbatical first.
  2. Im not knocking it, his career. Will just make me chuckle when he turns up at Shrewsbury or wherever, ‘ I just want to play football’
  3. Samba was born and raised in Paris...
  4. Indeed. There’s more Winston Bogarde’s than anyone would like to admit...
  5. Could have gone on loan though, no? Instead of wasting a year of his career, in his late 20s prime too. Always thought footballers ‘just want to play’?
  6. To be fair to m1st, he’d just forgotten what decade the likes of Tugay and Brad were playing in!
  7. Barnsley as sick as the inept organisation that is the EFL as the rest of us... https://www.barnsleyfc.co.uk/news/2020/july/club-statement/
  8. No it isn’t always judged by success, that’s why ‘Cult hero’ is the other moniker put on players, but not sure he’s that either. He’s been a bright spot in a fairly forgettable era, but ‘club legend’ he ain’t. Nowt ‘silly’ about saying so.
  9. 2020/21 confirmed for 12th September. https://www.rovers.co.uk/news/2020/july/efl-confirm-season-2020-21-start-date/
  10. Thank Christ the club/TM looked at the big picture with Samuel. Been largely poor in his time here (and a lot of time injured), I couldn’t believe the clamour for a new contract from a few on here after he had a couple of decent cameos. If we have any aspirations, we must be aiming higher than new deals for Samuel et al.
  11. Best ask the 14 clubs in the Championship that have had them on sale for months...
  12. I wouldn’t worry. He pops up now and again does morten, usually to tell us how small a club we are, so similar approach today...
  13. #decentservant, I like it!
  14. We’ve heard from the club how many times since March? And I mean the club, not re-hashed EFL statements. A handful? Considering Waggott states he ‘makes all the decisions’, he’s either a piss poor operator and communicator, or a liar and the club is simply in suspended animation until the annual jaunt to Pune...
  15. Don’t tweet them that, it’ll give them ideas!
  16. Then I suppose when you have the turn over of staff that we have, it’s probably not a surprise. Warren Lucy, as an example, I assume runs the social media accounts and he’s a southern hired hand, who will see DG as part of the furniture, he’ll have no connection to our heritage or real awareness of who WE see as legends.
  17. But then they are diminishing the club by calling a solid pro, who’s done a good job in the lower leagues for us (been a favourite of mine since day 1), but still a fairly insignificant figure in the grand scheme of things a ‘club legend’ we are Blackburn Rovers, not Reading. That’s poor PR for me, but WTF do I know ?‍♂️
  18. ‘Club legend’, prime example of how the club has diminished. I’ve always been a big fan of DG, proper craftsman of a centre forward. But CLUB LEGEND? Nah, I’ll stick with Shearer, with Garner, with Crompton, Clayton, Douglas, Tugay, Friedel etc
  19. We conceded 63, was 69 last season, so ‘progress’, like accruing 3 extra points, I suppose... But no clean sheets in the last 11 games is a large reason we missed out..
  20. Harry Maguire was playing in League 1 at 21...
  21. How big is this house? Or is it a top and tail job? Oh to be a footballer (even a perennial fourth division loanee!)
  22. I may be wrong, but hasn’t DG always lived in the north east throughout his time here?
  23. Didn’t know you went to Leyland, Mercer? You rarely even venture to Ewood, as far as I’m aware. ‘I was going to buy 17 tickets, but saw the team, so now I’m off to Majestic for a crate’ being the usual line. How many times have you seen Butterworth?
  24. I would say there’s an element of that, but I would say we’ve just been browbeaten for so long, standards and expectations have dropped. Venky’s biggest legacy is to erase the belief that we should even be the club we were pre Jack in the 80s, i.e. even challenging for promotion. The group I go to away games with are committed Rovers fans, proper dye in the wool. If we’d have been hammered in the PL days, the pitchforks would’ve been out with them in the boozer after for, say, Allardyce. Now? Just a shrug and another pint...
