  1. Papers will have form, tips etc. All have a good racing section on a Saturday.
  2. Aye, it was the absolutely freezing, spent most of the game bouncing on the spot. Great performance from a team that was far too good for that league. Friedel, Duff, Dunn, Jansen, Hignett, Berg, Short, Berkovic, Hughes- christ it's better than our side now!
  3. So , so many, but I'll never forget the first Premier League game at Ewood Park. Rovers 1 Arsenal 0, Shearer was an absolute nightmare for their defence all night and then shoulder barged Carter (?) into the Enclosure and smacked it in, Blackburn End went absolutely potty- WE HAD ARRIVED
  4. Season 8 started in the States on Sunday, I *ahem* found a way of watching it over here. I actually LOLd often.
  5. Whoa whoa whoa preston blue! The MODERN 'game' of football you must be referring to, shirley?
  6. Mad Men. Top class in every way.
  7. So did I! It was such a journey those few years. sometimes wish I had savoured them even more.
  8. Went to Sharjan on Friday- poor again. Absolutely heaving though, wouldn't know a good curry if it was lobbed in their face some folk.
  9. Take Away? Has GOT to be Pizza Italia on Whalley New Road (bottom of St James'), proper thin crusts made by actual Italians. For Currys- Bilash in Darwen is bob on.
  10. Where did you drag this thread from gord?! AESF, whatever hapenned to him?
  11. Now we are talking! 5) Burnley 0 Rovers 2. December 2000. So much build up and hype, but we then gave them a lesson. Ball being sent off for that lunge and doing the walk of shame to the Rovers fans topped it off! 4) PNE 0 Rovers 1. May 2001. Rovers fans packed in to the paddock terrace going potty when Jansen scored, Flitcroft saying 'we did it for Jack' on his tshirt. 'Rovers are back, Rovers are back hello hello1' 3) Rovers 4 Derby county 2. May 1992. Two nill down after 10 minutes, blokes in the Riverside walking out, others almost in tears as it would be 3 play off failures in 4 years. Then Sellars, Newell and 2 from Speedie got us in control! 2) Rovers 1 Newcastle 0. May 1995. Ive never known tension like it, Newcastle bossed the game, Flowers had 'bottle', Shearer got the goal. Almost there! 1) Liverpool 2 rovers 1. May 1995. The away end was a nighmare, people shouting 'Cole's missed a penalty', 'United are winning' etc etc, Redknapp scored.... blur. Greatest day of my life.
  12. get posting pal!

  13. One season only but he totally galvanised the side. It was my first year as a season ticket holder and he was my hero! A clinical finisher that had a field day in that division. His hat trick against Newcastle as their Messiah mk1 returned is still one of my favourite Ewood memories, jumping on the Darwen End fence and giving some to the deluded ones. Another hat trick at Plymouth to get us in to the play offs, his goals against Derby in the semi to get us a 4-2 win after being two down, 'buying' that penalty at Wembley- great days with more to come.
  14. About renaming a stand. Of course, that would be fantastic, but alternatively someone has posted on the LT website a suggestion of sprucing up the gates around the Jack Walker stand and renaming them the Clayton Gates.
  15. Beating Stoke in the cup in 1962: http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=41929 Blackpool away: http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=67422 Bolton Cup Semi: http://www.britishpathe.com/record.php?id=37831 more on British Pathe
  16. Rovers TV are usually pretty good at putting tributes together, just hope they have the time before kick off tomorrow.
  17. Radio Lancs will be having a mini tribute to him on the Sport show tonight- just started.
  18. Sad news, true Rovers man. A few weeks back a couple of videos of him and Dougie were posted, holding court in the Nuttall Street. Part of the very fabric of the club. Proper player, proper fan, proper fella. RIP
  19. West Ham home, October 1993, a young Mattyblue was mascot. 2-0 defeat, that Lee Chapman had me crying all over my signed shirt.
  20. Queued up in the early hours for a ticket, my mate was about 20 people behind me- they sold out before he got to the counter! What a day, went with the Des & Phil 007 Darwen Blues bus. Think we stopped in Ormskirk on the way down, the tension was unbearable in the boozers. On the ground, constant rumours went up 'Andy Cole's missed a penalty' 'West Ham are down to 10 men' all rollocks of course! To see the tears of the grown men around me will stay with me forever, as will the reception all the coaches got when they returned to Ewood, streets were packed! Think I was a little too young to truly appreciate it and I think we all expected more success. But still, the greatest day.
  21. Ive said it many times, I just look to players and management to get a winning formula going on the pitch and to move the club forward while they are here. I've long since stopped looking for 'heroes', the club is all that matters to me.
  22. SSN Daniel Craig says it's McCarthy's 'dream move', just like Lucash!
  23. I am sure he had some essence of normality at Boro, but maybe I just didnt notice?! Think the England experience has caused his marbles to be well and truely lost.
