That’s football fans for you. Takes all sorts. Some are really committed, some are ‘pick their games’ types, some prefer going away, some are loosely fans of their club but not particularly arsed, some just moan about the club even though they’ve not been there since 19xx and so on. So not sure what your point is unsall and why it means we shouldn’t be concerned about crowds now and in the future.

Oh I’ve no visions of those returning, it’s elements of the regular and semi regular attendees I envisage dropping off. There’s evidence of it on this thread already - and this is from fans that spend their days on an Internet forum relating to the club - so invested folk. This won’t be just a Rovers issue, end of the day we won’t really know until next season and subsequent ones.
-
Who’s blaming the club? It’s the EFL to blame for the ridiculous red button initiative (though presumably this deal was voted through?)
-
What about those that can’t make it? They don’t get to watch it, simple as that. But again you aren’t grasping it chaddy, so here I go. This isn’t about mad committed fans that maybe can’t make on odd game. Using you or me as an example, it wouldn’t stop us buying a ST in the future, we’d just be happy we got to see a game we’d have otherwise missed. However, there maybe others that are weighing up renewing for whatever reason, maybe they struggle to get to non Saturday afternoon matches etc or they pick their games, THEY could well keep their cash in their pocket.

Football rule changes - what would you do?

I’ll be topical. Scrap at least two international breaks. Play in two/three windows. I.e November, March, end of season. -
I believe this TV deal runs till about 2021/22, so it could have done untold damage by then.
-
Both Sky and other media only talked about midweek games being on the red button when promoting it in August. The fact that ALL matches outside the 3pm Saturday window will be legally available was hidden about 10 paragraphs down an EFL press release when the new TV deal was signed last year. All very disingenuous and as blueboy says we’ll see the real impact of if next season.

Any Riversiders transferring to the Jack Walker for the QPR firework display?

Of course, they speak like politicians that often these corporate types that they hedge their language even for done deals.

Miss-spoke. I like it. You can get yourself a job as a politician’s spin doctor.

Waggott on Breteton, With the tweaking of the window, it had to be a loan deal, but we are looking in January to make that permanent.” Just looking to? https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16984616.rovers-have-big-belief-in-brereton-says-ceo-waggott/?ref=mac

We’ll probably have around 10 of our home games available through Sky by the end of the season. Without doubt more than we ever had in the Premier League - only problem is we don’t have a PL product anymore to ensure folk keep bothering coming to Ewood

Changes were agreed in the summer. The income from future increases in international TV revenue will be weighted towards those at the top of the table - https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11661/11397468/premier-league-clubs-agree-new-way-of-sharing-international-broadcast-revenue

No wonder, tired room with little drink choice plus a flatter atmosphere then what you’d get in the Blues Bar. A better idea would be some kind of craft beer lounge etc. At least something a bit different. Charge an entry fee unless you’re in the 1875 club etc. I’m all for increasing revenues but the powers that be need to show some initiative. -

Fair enough, I suppose. But what about games like Brentford with a few hundred away fans? -

Speaking of revenue, what happened to the 1875 club lounge in the old Legends Lounge? Big fanfare about it last season, nothing this. Unless the club is reserving it for all these fabled big Championship away followings? -

You can imagine the fawning now: ‘Madame, the fans are always asking when they will see you again’. Pathetic really, but if that’s the game they have to play with this bunch to ensure they keep the club going then it is what it is. -
They’ll see weekend games and games in school holidays, or all of them, depending on the parent, like they always have. We are going round in circles chaddy so I’ll leave it here. I’m not interested in you getting to see games you couldn’t see before, just the well-being of the club. If you think going on for half our home games being shown on TV is a good thing with no negative effects, fine, the proof will by how much crowds in the EFL fall in the next few years, because that will prove the folly of this initiative.
-
So you can’t see a midweek game and you lose interest in the club? No course you don’t, that’s life. The very best way to get folk interested in watching football in the ground.
-
So do I, but not at the expense of bums on seats. Why not show every game live then? Where does it stop? I would love to see every game I can’t get to on TV, but I’m happy I don’t get to. As I care about the well being of the club and the game much more than my selfish wants.
-
It’s a shame for those fans living far away, but no they shouldn’t get to watch every midweek game, just like I shouldn’t get to watch all the away ones. A stupid idea that could damage attendances - something much more important.
-
The impact of the red button will only be properly seen in future seasons. If the crowds of EFL clubs substantially fall then yes the league have made a big error. The EFL does not have the attraction of the PL, having 10+ home games a season live on TV could make a lot of folk question their future ST purchases* The deal before this one was fine, 1 or 2 live matches a weekend. I had no expectation to see every midweek away game on my TV, there was no demand for it amongst fans. Will I watch the Swansea away game? Too right I will but I wouldnt shed a tear if it was scrapped - bigger picture. *Yes I know not you chaddy, you’ll be there regardless.
