Season Tickets 2018/19

The surcharge is complete nonsense and not something we ever had before last season. Again Chaddy, you don’t seem to realise that there are Rovers fanatics like me and you, but there are also those that ‘pick their games’. So Joe Bloggs make a late decision to come to the Leeds game. Jack Walker stand - the surcharge will make his ticket £32 in the wings or £34 in the centre! In the second division!!! Red button it is for Joe. Just like it’s Sky for you for the Bolton game. -
Good post, though I do think you’d get diminishing returns with £10 tickets every week. Though nearly £30 a game is absolutely crackers. Mods: maybe merge this with the season ticket thread?

What makes me laugh about these noon kickoffs is it is for such small margins. The standard away allocation (if you were keeping Rovers fans in the Darwen End) was 5,500, that allocation ensured a 3pm kick off. Any more tickets and it’s a full Darwen End job for away fans - and a noon start. So Leeds have been given nearly 8,000 tickets then? Really cashing in? No, 6,800. So all this palava for an extra 1,300 tickets? Yet net it will be less as the early start and probably red button coverage will put off some home fans from buying, so all in all the extra tickets sold will be in the hundreds. When PNE bring about 3/4,000 it will be even more ridiculous to be sitting on Ewood at 12pm, with a load of Rovers fans sitting at home/pub watching the red button. EARTH TO WAGGOTT!! -

Indeed gumboots. A club with our limited fan base loses 10,000 season ticket holders between 2010 and 2012, how many of those will ever come back? And if they don’t, where are the replacements to fill their seat? The club should mull over this kind of stuff before we start hearing about ‘wanting full houses’. Something, by the way we’ve not had on a regular basis at Ewood since 1996. -
Like it chadster. Destroy all records. Should be the BRFC Dark Ages in the club’s history.

Exactly right tomphil. We have a core of 10-12k that turn up to watch any old shite - proof of that these past years. But unlike other clubs we don’t have the catchment area to quickly raise attendances on a good run. A club like a Boro who are one of only 3 league clubs in the whole north east of England have fans from across Teeside, plus into County Durham to the north and North Yorkshire to the south, they can add 5k on to the gate in walk ons on the back of feel good factor. We just don’t have that. As I’ve said on another thread our crowd has always been heavily reliant on season ticket sales, we haven’t ever sold many walk on tickets game by game. So Waggott needs to do everything in his power therefore to increase those sales each close season. This summer was a mammoth missed opportunity to do just that. So, the ‘disappointment’ of the powers that be need to start looking closer to home for answers. -
A bit of cash spent and their fans think it’s the second coming of the Clough years. You wouldn’t think they’d been out of the top flight for 20 years with two stints in League 1 to boot.

Even the yearly puff pieces in agency friendly papers have now stopped.

Mowbray disappointed with attendances. Not true what he says about grounds like Pride Park being full when we go there - well over 10,000 empty seats at Derby, for example. But there is obviously a feeling within the players and staff that they deserve more backing - they do. Though perhaps knock on your Chief Exec’s door to ask why we can’t sell more than 9,600 season tickets... https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport/16908899.tony-mowbray-feels-a-warmth-from-fans-to-rovers-players/?ref=mac -
Does it not feel much longer in many ways? Amazes me that we’ve only been out of the PL for six years, feels a lifetime.
-
Not everybody charges Bolton prices though. £20 at West Brom next month. Still many clubs charging reasonable-ish prices, a certain few have lost the plot. On your general point, who knows where pay TV and Sky in particular now goes in regards to football with Murdoch gone and a US corporation now in situ.

AFC Bournemouth v ROVERS

But middling Championship clubs don’t, they make just as many changes as PL clubs now. Totally get your point Gav, the modern game often makes me ask ‘what’s the point?’ What do clubs exist for now, if not to try and win things or even enjoy a cup run? Mid table Premier League clubs, say Everton, for example, will make 10 changes, get beat, for what? So they can still finish 9th? The authorities are trying, getting rid of extra time, replays etc. But it’s just ingrained with clubs now, so you just get on with it and enjoy seeing some fringe players, though the collapse in FA Cup crowds over the past 15 years says the fans aren’t mugs. -
Good chance it will be one season as it’s 3 up next year.

Mogga’s presser: Mulgrew’s playing as long as he gets through tomorrow’s training.

‘Felt contact, entitled to go down’ Total nonsense, often said by pundits who played in an age where players did the exact opposite. -
Though that could be a red button job as it’s not 3pm...
-
Leeds away has been ruined for years because of pricing, shame because it would be an away loads would look forward to. Either into the city centre for a few or go to the likes of Holmfirth.
-
Psychological thing, £27 and you’d sell more. Three quid extra and break the thirty barrier and it’s ‘’OW MUCH?!”
-
Roversfan99 and chaddy have sparred daily for as long as I remember, neither of them ever gives an inch! Always give 110% Great stuff!
-
They do Jim, but we rarely sell more than 2/3 thousand walk ons, never have, especially in this league. Makes those poor season ticket sales even more noticeable.
-
Realities are they won’t be, you’ve been a Rovers fan long enough now tomphil to know how our fan base works!
-
On general sale now with only 600 sold to season ticket holders and 1875. As I said on page 1, Rovers fans just don’t pay £30, especially not when on Sky (plus train issues this time to compound it). Looks like the good numbers we had at Stoke won’t get close to being matched down the road at Bolton - says a lot.

‘Hater’ and ‘hating on’ can go with ‘my bad’ to English Room 101.

Caddis that desperate for a club he’s been editing his own wiki ‘He predominantly plays as either a right back or right winger, but due to his versatility, and having two good feet, he can also play at left back and anywhere across the midfield.’ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Caddis

AFC Bournemouth v ROVERS

It’s an interesting debate. Resting half/the whole team used to bring howls of derision, it is now largely just accepted, even encouraged. Indeed a lot of fans look forward to a cup tie purely as a chance to see some emerging players. The stakes are now so high in league football, a promotion or relegation can completely transform/ruin a club, so the chance to actually win something or even just have an enjoyable cup run is down everyone’s priority list. It’s sad but it neatly sums up the modern game.
