AFC Bournemouth v ROVERS
Mattyblue replied to blueboy3333's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
*Ahem* 500. -
I’m not as worried about the centre half issue in the short term mainly due to Williams. I personally think he’s got more attributes to be in the middle than as full back - he’s good positionally, plus strong in the air and can tackle, but just doesn’t really have the mobility a modern full back increasingly needs. If we can try and get through to January relatively unscathed, obviously no guarantees with the injury record of Mulgrew and Lenihan then we can try and get this Bauer at a knock down price or look elsewhere for reinforcements.

Williams definitely, but I believe the new rule is yellows only count in each competition they are received in, so Lenihan won’t be impacted. https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/7002974/yellow-red-cards-count-across-all-competitions-efl-rules/amp/ -

ROVERS VS STOKE CITY
Mattyblue replied to Dreams of 1995's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Rowett... ‘Blackburn showed a massive amount of fight. I think Blackburn gave us a bit of a lesson late on under pressure when they are throwing bodies around and being aggressive and doing everything they can to stop a goal going in.” You can’t say fairer than that.’ We shouldn’t lose sight of how committed this bunch are, obviously not replicated everywhere. -
ROVERS VS STOKE CITY

Couldn’t go as at a wedding. As the speeches started Dack had just hit the post to miss making it 4-0 and I did the socially acceptable thing and put my phone away. About 10 or so minutes later, a fella on a different table goes ‘Stoke missed the pen’, I thought ‘so?, we’re cruising’! Checked at full time to see that would have made it 3-3’! -
The Fieldings at Mellor Brook has been taken over by the owners of The Butlers, we went last week and it was very good.

89/90, wasn’t it?

We won there the season before, Ian Pearce got the winner to qualify us for Europe.

Meanwhile over at Deepdale....
Mattyblue replied to riverkiller's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
The Premier League isn’t a normal league so crowds don’t really come into it. However, normally if you have the lowest crowds in the league you’ll be towards the bottom - though there are exceptions every year. Accy Stanley as an example. -

On crowds of 10/11,000 you could argue that relegation battles should be the norm, a situation we need to be mindful of. Though Brentford seem to be defying logic on that score. -
Season Tickets 2018/19
Mattyblue replied to blueboy3333's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
From Monday night's fans forum... 4. Discounted Home Games TS asked whether the club was still considering discounting ticket prices for a future home game. SW replied that he expected that a game would be chosen in the near future. The club had been disappointed with the level of attendances at home games so far this season. There was some discussion about the possible reasons for this. It was clear that the fact that all Championship games not played on Saturdays at 3pm being shown live on Sky TV was having an effect on attendances across the league. Sky paid £100,000 to the home club for a live TV game and £10,000 to the away club but there were currently no extra payments for the other games now being shown. The fact that Rovers’ first three home games had been with teams with small away followings and the fourth had been live on Sky TV had not helped. There had also been difficulties with both local and national train services. RW asked whether the club would consider laying on coaches from various local communities for fans. This might help encourage more regular attendance. There was some discussion about this and SW agreed to consider the idea. 5. 2018-19 Season Ticket Sales TS asked whether the season ticket price rise had affected sales. SW replied that it was important that the club move away from the benefactor model towards a more financially self-sufficient basis. Whilst the cheap ticket policy in the Premier league had brought an increase in attendances it had made it more difficult to increase prices thereafter. SW stated that season tickets had been taken off sale after the Aston Villa game and that sales stood at 9,641. This was below the club’s stretch target of 10,500, although that target included half season ticket sales (typically around 300-400). https://www.rovers.co.uk/contentassets/72f15c4f64fc46be88e3fa7646577133/ff-minutes-17.9.18.pdf So targets missed and they are 'disappointed' with crowds, let's hope they are being a little more forensic as to WHY behind closed doors... -
Think you’ll be struggling, Ewood Blues and other independents will probably be in a Staffordshire pub by then! Even Away Travel are going at 11.30

Lancashire Clubs - Round Up
Mattyblue replied to Stuart's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Widnes was put in Cheshire with Warrington. 1974 really wrecked Lancashire. -
Good post blueboy. An example of what you’re saying is if you speak to a Darrener of a certain age they will tell you it used to be all about Bolton for them. They used to go to the same schools etc, that doesn’t really happen now. I think the 17 year gap before we played Burnley in 2000 at their place really hyped up that Derby way above all others. To the extent we were in an absolute frenzy by kick off

Interesting thread: https://www.pne-online.net/forum/showthread.php?107219-Is-PNE-being-lined-up-for-general-onward-sale £77million for Preston North End is obviously cloud cuckoo land stuff, but whenever I see valuations like this bandied about for clubs smaller/similar to us, always makes me look back to the actions of the Walkers in 2010 who sold the club for significantly less than just the playing squad was worth, nevermind Premier League status and the club’s assets. I’m sure Preston fans were saying last season that they were a model club - unlike ourselves and Bolton - make the play offs and they could be the next Burnley. Now, a few bad results and Hemmings is an Oyston- esque asset stripper... -
I’m just talking generally, I’ve not seen Brereton play that role at all.

Derby County vs Rovers, Tues 18th Sept
Mattyblue replied to Mike E's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Always remember two lads next to me left when Derby went 2 up... -
Of course. Just makes me laugh just how important it is to Bolton in comparison, to the extent they’ve simply nicked the ‘Dingle’ ‘inbred’ ‘6 fingers’ stuff and transferred it to us. Though not as pathetic as the ‘Plastics’ tag from Preston fans, simply because a few folk used to walk around in Rovers shirts 25 years ago. Though they’ve no issue with most folk in their ‘city’ wearing Liverpool and Man Utd shirts.

Darwen End Closure / New Singing Section
Mattyblue replied to pk1875's topic in Blackburn Rovers Fans Messageboard
Who’s belittling you? How are we ‘further divided’ A suggestion was made to move to NO1 in the Blackburn End, because that is a fairly full area with people that generally stand and sing. More chance of getting chants going there than the now very few of you left in the JW corner. That’s it. Move, don’t move, just an idea. You seem to have this us against them mentality for some reason, usually because a couple of divvies have said something on social media or because of an incident years ago. Most people in the ground don’t see themselves as ‘belonging’ to a particular stand, they just have a ticket there, we are all just Rovers fans, no?
