  1. Totally agree on that, we must be one of the few remaining clubs that seem to be ignoring that demographic. I’d love to see a stat on what percentage of kid season ticket holders stop going when they reach adult prices - especially as many will now be expected to buy their own. A half way house price would go a long way to stopping that drop off.
  2. Not intentional. Even with such competitive pricing at all age brackets, we just wouldn’t jump from 9,000 to 20,000 season tickets sold as an EFL club.
  3. In this league? No, not even close. We only just about sold that many when it was £199 in the Premier League with the ‘Taking Back Ewood’ campaign . And we’ve lost a lot of support since then.
  4. No arguments there, but that’s the reality. The Premier League is an absolute monster, I bet we all come across people constantly that don’t have the foggiest idea about football outside the PL and don’t want to either. As an example of said people - Cardiff’s crowds have just doubled.
  5. I’d love you to be right but I honestly can’t see us ever selling shed loads of STs in this league, even if cheap. We know the Premier League is generally a load of boring shite, I personally think the Championship is a superb competition - key being ‘competition’, however there are a hell of a lot of ‘brandwashed’ folk out there that just aren’t interested in the lower leagues.
  6. Oxford was a one off for many reasons. In the EFL we will always have a ceiling, a lot of folk just aren’t interested on a regular basis at this level. If you made it £10 every week you would soon see numbers buying tickets dwindle as the novelty wore off, as Waggott presumably knows, plus we’ve generally not been a club that sells a lot of walk on tickets - very season ticket holder heavy attendances. Now if we ever did get to the PL, make it £200 for a season ticket - like Huddersfield and they would sell like hot cakes.
  7. Difference is now, EVERY non 3pm game will be on TV, that’s much different than an odd game, as it will now give people a decision to make on ‘is it worth a season ticket?’ And people will just not bother travelling midweek.
  8. Not actually the case, West Yorkshire is the Leeds equivalent to Greater Manchester. Both are metropolitan councils set up in the 70s like Tyne & Wear, South Yorkshire, West Midlands etc. The reason Manchester itself is smaller than most think is areas that people generally think are in the city like Stretford etc. are actually outside the boundaries - as Man City fans like to point out.
  9. It is, but pretty much every town and village in Yorkshire is full of Leeds fans.
  10. Leeds have a vast floating support from Hull to Skipton, North Yorkshire to Barnsley, and they are one club from a massive city, so a bit of success on the pitch and they flock to Elland Road. But as tomphil says they soon disappear.
  11. Made me laugh when Sky briefly had that 3D channel: ‘For the first time you can watch your team in 3D!’.
  12. It’s so many home games being on TV that is the worry.
  13. Idiot Walker family part 67 - In The Times this morning, Watford owner turns down £125 million for 36% stake - that values the club at £350 million. That’s Watford, average Premier League crowd of 20,000.
  14. I’m not, didn’t like the look of the train prices, so I’ll be watching the red button! Makes me sound like a right hypocrite - I’ll be doing it for Swansea too, the rub being though if this service wasn’t offered then I wouldn’t be asking for it. But sorry, wrong thread!
  15. I follow/red button is great for overseas or long distances away UK Rovers fans. However of course Ossydave is right, it does nothing for attendances as locals will now be able to watch getting towards half of our home games on Sky, assuming PNE and Leeds are also red button, along with all night matches, Villa already scheduled, plus others probably as the season goes on. The ‘EFL’ is not the Premier League, it cannot, in my opinion, withstand saturated TV coverage and maintain crowds. I suppose the proof of that will be in the coming seasons as this beds in.
  16. Err £15million, if you don’t mind,
  17. I know where JH is coming from. We put together a quality Championship squad before and the owners sold the lot and as the final straw appointed Owen Coyle. However, this time does feel different, the club seems to be professionally run for the first time since John Williams, they seem to have a plan from Mowbray up to the chief executive. Maybe it was because of those auditors or Waggott and Mowbray have got them bought in to this model of signing young English talent. It all feels quite strange after a near decade of turmoil, but long may this continue, if it does who knows where it could lead...
  18. 5 games and I saw them all, looked exactly what he is, a lower league journeyman. Plus, his ‘languid’ style would not fit the present side one bit. Like Sam Hart, he won’t ever make it at this level, you don’t need to see them play dozens of matches to get to that conclusion. The club is moving on apace and the likes of Gladwin are being left behind, shame for them but that’s football.
  19. Really glad they shut the window early, much less stressful...
  20. He’s not good enough mick, simple as that.
  21. Great Lancs win by 4 wickets! Thought it was curtains at 178/6...
  22. It is, as I’ve put in the match thread, it’s looking like if it isn’t 3pm on a Saturday it’ll be on Sky.
  23. Just Gladwin to go...
