  1. Hmmm, now what does that remind me of... ‘No no it was a good idea to sack Sam, we just didn’t know that he’d be replaced by Ke*n’
  2. No it’s not wrong. If you can’t afford £30, you can’t afford it, simple as that. No point talking about spreading season ticket costs as you can’t buy one in October. Now if you’d have said ‘for those that can afford it get your arse to Ewood’ then it would be a fair point. But no. Honestly chaddy, not sure what planet you’re on half the time.
  3. Because that’s a bloody daft thing to say, many people can’t just get down ‘regardless of cost’.
  4. Great idea, but it won’t happen.
  5. However, was the REAL attendance a fair bit lower, as the police may have let the cat out of the bag; Chief Insp John Bullas, the match commander, said: "Around 18,000 people attended the game and the vast majority were well-behaved.
  6. 13,212 home fans, which is our biggest turn out of the season by nearly a 1,000.
  7. “I could have left Blackburn but I’m way happier now than the time I could have left Gillingham, It’s a massive a massive club, I love being here, everything is here to go to the next level. “I had conversations with the manager and the club and they said they didn’t want me to leave, so I told them I’ll leave it with you, I want to stay, I won't kick up a fuss, I want to be here and if an offer comes in they accept it, then it out of my hands then it becomes my decision” Those bids definitely happened then, plus now the feature interviews are starting, expect more incoming in January.
  8. It converted into a dance music place and is now shut, I think?
  9. It doesn’t bother me personally because I know he’s usually wrong. However a lot of folk will take what he says at face value, especially because I doubt a lot of readers realise he’s just a fan, not an LT journo. Anyway we’ve probably done this to death (until next week!)
  10. Always with the hyperbole. No crimes, just poor writing and a seeming insatiable need to find some way of slagging off the support each week. He’s very innovative on that score, I’ll give him that. If he was doing a blog somewhere then I’d be saying, ‘you’re wrong, but good luck to you’, however the LT sill plays a pivotal role for a lot of fans when it comes to Rovers news, in fact it’s often the only place they go for Rovers stories and I would prefer not to see exaggerations and plain untruths as the basis for their main weekly column. If you don’t know the facts, don’t attempt to recite them and stick to your opinions. We get enough shit for our crowds from ill informed non Blues, I don’t want to read it from the representative of our fanbase in the local paper too - is that too much to ask?
  11. Ah I see, it was just that I didn’t understand the point he was making. Thanks for the clarification Biz. In fact, what he meant to do was focus on a completely unrelated point about how we didn’t build on the title win and failed to add even more fans - we definitely would have needed a bigger Riverside in that case- nothing to do with coming out with more untruths to base another ‘fair weather Rovers fans’ piece on. Maybe he needs to be clearer in future or better yet actually just concentrate on stuff on the pitch for once.
  12. Agree, but I’ll go back to the fact that we’ve never sold a lot of walk ons week to week. Our crowds have always waxed and waned on the back of season ticket sales, which have always made up the vast majority of our support, that’s why this summer was so disappointing on that score and we are seeing the results now.
  13. A lot of these kind of sites are staffed by young volunteers trying to pad out their portfolios for their sport journalism courses. Nixon can’t go on for ever!
  14. But we rarely had a full stadium in 1994/1995, ergo an average crowd of 25,000, actually lower than the relegation season. Then still 20,000 in the second tier, very respectable, then again averages higher than title winning support once back up in 2001. Thats not a question of ‘rounding’ up decreasing numbers, but just competely wrong as our crowds actually INCREASED in the PL between 1998 and 2003 to levels higher than 1995. Now what is correct is that Venky’s have lost us 10,000 ST holders. And for a bit of historical context, crowds also dropped substantially between Souness’ later period from about 2003 until the ‘Taking Back Ewood’ campaign of cheap STs in 2009 - quite apt considering the discussions re crowds, pricing etc going on currently. I’m boring myself now but the facts are facts and I’m very protective of our reputation when it comes to this stuff and articles like that just don’t help.
  15. I’d take that with a pinch of salt. If TV want it on, it’s on. We’ve been told for the past few years that ‘the police’ and other ‘safety’ groups insist that any game which will have a full Darwen End of away fans MUST kick off at 12pm due to public order. So when we played Man Utd in the cup, chosen to be on BT, whose fans have repeatedly wrecked pubs and the away end itself over the years, the authorities seemingly had no ‘public order issues’ and it kicked off at ...4.15pm
  16. Think Leeds fans and their ilk forget that we dined at the top table for nigh on 20 years. Big games and away supports coming to Ewood year in, year out. Like we should be overawed/amazed. Indeed we were up there almost another decade after Leeds’ ignominious collapse to the lower leagues, so spare us the ‘massive’ stuff, ‘ear plugs’ etc.
  17. Now I am worried... https://soccersouls.com/2018/10/16/6-goals-in-10-games-wigan-beating-west-brom-to-sign-this-championship-sensation-would-elevate-their-attacking-fluidity/
  18. He said we lost 10,000 fans between 1995 and 1999, not that we failed to build on our success post 95. Damn right we messed up the second half of the 90s, but not the point he was making. His point was the ground is so full of empty seats because we started losing fans from 95 onwards - categorically not true, in fact we had a higher average attendance than 1995 on numerous occasions until 2003 (including the relegation season itself) and again in 2009/2010. Never met the bloke, he sounds like a committed fan himself, merely pointing out that he either exaggerates or simply spoutes untruths as the basis of his argument most weeks. Use Blue Eyed Boy as a comparison, folk might not always agree with his opinions, but he is a stickler for facts. If you aren’t going to research them, don’t just make them up to help support your piece. ‘Always had crap support have Rovers’, is the kind of shite I’ve often heard and inaccurate articles in the area’s paper just perpetuate such myths.
  19. The standard police story in the LT that always lands before any half decent crowd these days. A crowd lower than what we attracted pretty much every game for 20 years before 2012. Burnley get around 20k each match and I don’t see a story about the t’Turf from Lancs police every fortnight. https://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/news/16992902.police-warning-ahead-of-blackburn-rovers-v-leeds-united-match/?ref=mr&lp=1
  20. Read that O’Neill is the 4th best paid manager in international football. Amazing stat when you think of the size of some other football nations.
  21. Clubs like Tottenham just don’t buy players like Dack anymore (he says!) I’d be amazed.
  22. Still plenty of friendlies, Scotland have had one in both international breaks this season.
  23. I’m remaining cautious, he said something similar in his presser before one of the matches he ended up missing last time.
  24. Speaking in his press conference, the boss says: “Charlie Mulgrew had a few days off but trained today; hopefully he’ll train tomorrow too and will be fine for the weekend.” #Rovers
