@K-Hod I was in the airport yesterday, you get the picture, sat around for many hours waiting for the flight to be called….. Anyway, I see this young lad and his dad wondering around in a football shirt, but one I’d never seen before. I must have seen them 4/5 times, is it a Saudi team I was thinking, or a 3rd kit…… Nope…..It was a Fontaines DC shirt made to look like a footy top 😂 Then on further inspection it’s actually a Bohemians FC top. Thought of you, glad you enjoyed the gig and I’ve made it a mission to have a listen.

It’s got plenty of space even when full. They also do VIP on the balcony which is great too, worth the few extra pounds in my experience.

Piece Hall is a great venue Mark, you’ll not be disappointed. Faithless played on Friday and went down a treat by all accounts. I know someone who works close by and listens to all the sound checks - Rag n Bone Man being the best so far by all accounts 😂 If you’re after food before the gig - Ricci’s place in town centre was excellent, but you’d need to book.

Always liked Kendal Calling, but not been for 20yrs, I would imagine it’s change a bit since then. We’ve got Oasis a week today and after all the hype I’m really ‘Mad Fer It’. Last gig of the summer for us and going out with a bang.

I too was at The Libertines last night, I didn’t see any fighting, but the gig was stopped due to "Crushing' at the front. Now call me old fashioned, but if you stand at the front you expect a certain amount of being knocked around etc? I don't want people to get hurt, I hope nobody was, but goodness me, its a small outdoor venue, its hardly Oasis at Wembley....... I agree with K-Hod, they were on top form last night, looked to be enjoying themselves and despite Pete forgetting the words in one song, it was seamless, I really enjoyed listening to some guitar music again and a band that are rooted in English folk music and proud to shout it loudly. Oasis next in a few weeks time.

I’ve been watching the superb scenes today on The Mall, a real celebration for the Lionesses and quite right too. But you’re right roverandout, one of the things that has really struck me is how many of the girls have said they’re proud to be English, it’s unheard of these days in case you upset someone. It’s great to hear and we should hear it more often.

I was in Halifax yesterday to watch a gig at the Peace Hall, a venue that is quickly turning into one of the country’s best for concerts and is also a great place to spend time, eat drink and shop. But the reason mainly for this post is how buzzing the town was during the day. I'm not daft enough to think it isn't related to the Peace Hall gig, but alfresco dining, not a table to be had in the town centre unless you'd booked, people drinking in the streets at the local bars, table service and some really good pubs, it was a joy to see and reasonably priced. King Georges Hall used to be one of North Wests best venues, on the 'circuit' for most artists, but those days now seem gone for ever. Imagine an ambitious concert season, eating places and bars from Town Hall to old Debenhams serving thousands of people going to gigs and just out for a spot of lunch/tea, it would massively boost the local economy and support the cash strapped council in the process. I was told last night that Calderdale council contribute less that £1m to support The Peace Hall, in return the venue pulls in over £10m, its a no brainer. Just think what a busy King Georges could achieve for the town, sad to say it doesn't look like happening despite some really good people trying to make a difference. So it looks like Halifax will continue to corner that market and what a great job they're doing as well.
