  1. 2nd T20 in South Africa tomorrow. We got away with one last time out against an underprepared SA, Roy needs to get his act together, looking forward to it. I agree with Riverside above, test cricket suffers when players concentrate on the shorter game and all the riches that come with it. As a fan I’d much rather win the Ashes than any cup in the shorter game, but I love watching both forms of the game.
  2. Tyson was unbeatable in his early career, a colossus until the money came rolling in and he took his eye off the ball. Roy Jones was also one of the best boxers to ever set foot in the ring, but that was at middle weight/Super middle. Both are absolute legends, but this tonight is a bit of a freak show for me. Tyson had little or no stamina at the end of his career in 2006, losing to 2 journeymen in Danny Williams and Kevin Mcbride, he won’t have much in the tank after 2 rounds. Jones will sit back, soak up the Tyson attack and win on points, unless Tyson catches him, he will still carry some significant power. I saw Hopkins fight Jones in Vegas a few years back, watched them at Mandalay Bay, that was a terrible fight, tonight will potentially be the same. Ok ok I’ve bought it......being a boxing fan and to once again see 2 legends pull on the leather was a chance I couldn’t miss.
  3. Just watched the NZ vrs Argentina game which the All Blacks won at a canter after losing to them a few weeks ago. The highlight for me was actually before the game started, the All Blacks lined up for the Haka and Sam Cane walked forward, placed an All Black shirt with 10 Maradona on the centre spot, absolute class.
  4. That over by Hendericks going for 27 was the clincher, I was worried up to that point o2g. Now for Saints to beat Wigan.
  5. Very good I liked the quote from Maradona where he talked about giving his opponents a chance, because he drank heavily and took drugs: "Imagine what I could have been, what I could have achieved if I had been clean."
  6. His other 400 games for Santos played in a tin pot league as I said. But can’t argue with your second paragraph, it’s all about opinions Jim, we’ve lost a great today. RIP Diego.
  7. Problem I have with Pele, superb player that he was, he scored all his goals in a tin pot league in Brazil. Anytime you watch footage of Pele his greatest moments are often misses, 1970 world cup springs to mind, Banks save and that outrageous dummy on the keeper and his shot from the half way line.
  8. Couldn’t disagree more. What he did at Napoli was similar to what Shearer did here, unfashionable side and won the league against all the odds, very few of the ‘greats’ have that in the locker. 4 World Cups, won it in 86. The greatest player of all time, but it’s all about opinions darren
  9. Diego Maradona has died, the greatest player to ever grace the game in my opinion. I hated him for years after the World Cup, he had his demons, but what a footballer. Sad day for the football community across the globe. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/54810392
  10. I don't know why, but giving tickets away put me in mind of this game, what was I thinking........ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mmn-rMxDjyg
  11. The Undertaker has at times sent shivers down my spine, my son has been a fan since 2000's. Me being an old **** still pines for Big Daddy and Giant Haystacks! American wrestling is a farce, but they're fit lads/lasses and deserve respect for the entertainment value and thats born out by the fact I've watched The undertaker and had goose bumps running down my spine. End or an era, so I'm told
  12. Amsterdam for 3 days was like a night out in Blackburn late 80’s early 90’s, just tremendous.
  13. Main stand! Robert Plant! Dead posh.....
  14. The actions of those idiots in Pune have destroyed a once proud football club, destroyed families and local businesses and ensured the future of the football club will always be in doubt. I try not to hate, it’s wasted energy, but I reserve the right to hate the owners, Kean and the rest of the scumbags like Agnew that saw a few quid and pissed all over the club that Jack built. Bollox to welcoming them back
  15. Remember it well, great following by the Rovers fans on The Cuckoo Road End. I went the season before and we had around 100 there. Just watching the Barnsley game at home where Newell sat the Barnsley defence on its arse and slotted the ball home. I think for me that was the game where I thought we’re going up here, no problem. Then we had the struggles, but came out of the lull at Tranmere away? Wegerle pen? The rest is history.
  16. The boys from the black stuff - I can’t find words to describe it, fantastic doesn’t do it justice. Proper Tv, stories about real people that still resonate today.
  17. Transmission podcast, for all Joy Division and New Order fans: http://www.neworder.com/newordernow/2020/10/9/transmissions-the-definitive-story.html
  18. What a keeper he was As Sparks said earlier, it seems like all our childhood hero's/entertainers are dying (He wasn't my hero, Jim Arnold was in the Keeper stakes, but you get my drift) Its a clear sign I'm getting old, but I still think I'm 21.
  19. I missed Larissa and Krakow, went to all the rest, I think. I'd forgotten Salzburg, what a place that is! Savage free kick, Trapattoni and The Sound of Music We stayed in Salzburg before the England game in Germany when we beat them 5-1 - Another superb trip, this time watching the national side.
  20. Stays in Sofia... Strip club, dancing bears, Ewood blues suitcases full of soap, Secret police, Waggy (once of this parish) - Great trip darrenrover, it really was. But to be honest all the European away games were fantastic, I missed one or two towards the end and I'm gutted that I did. Lyon, Bulgaria, Germany a few times, but the best of the lot was probably Feyenoord, Amsterdam in the days leading up to the game was like nights out in Blackburn late 80's early 90's, the place was rocking with Rovers, I'm getting goose bumps just typing this.
  21. The football was a side show, the trip was brilliant, most Rovers fans stayed in a hotel with a strip club on the top floor, I never saw the Mrs for 3 days....... 2 of our party missed the flight home, got stopped from boarding because the plane was full, took them 2 days to get home. I could go on. Great times, they can't take away our memories.
  22. Superb

  24. R E S U L T
  25. Tell you what Silas, tremendous professionalism on the part of the Saints player to not react.
